We're back from Malmö and ready to digest everything that went down at Eurovision 2024. In this episode, Conor and Lou are reunited to chat about the chaos that was Eurovision 2024. Back in January, Ireland voted to send Bambie Thug to Malmö with their song, "Doomsday Blue". Despite facing many obstacles from home and abroad, Bambie Thug did the unthinkable at the contest. Not only did they break Ireland's non-qualification streak, they brought us back into the Top 10! Bambie achieved Ireland's best result at Eurovision in 24 years - finishing in 6th place with 278 points. We'll hear from some of the Irish delegation following this result including Michael Kealy and Bambie themselves. Switzerland took home the trophy on Saturday night with Nemo and "The Code". Finishing 1st with the jury and 5th in the televote, Nemo received a total of 591 points. This is Switzerland's third win. We'll share our thoughts on Nemo's historic win as the first non-binary representative to win Eurovision. Plus, it's safe to say Eurovision 2024 was chaotic. We'll chat about The Netherlands disqualification, the double-standards set by the EBU, and what needs to happen in the future to safeguard Eurovision. It's nearly time to hear the iconic Eurovision intro music. But before that, we're sharing our final pre-show/pre-Eurovision predictions for 2024. As we went to record this episode, RTÉ released a snippet of Bambie Thug's rehearsal for Ireland. It's safe to say we went into meltdown alongside the rest of the Eurovision community. Listen to our reaction only minutes after our first watch. We'd also like to thank you for listening and supporting us throughout the season. The podcast would be nothing with you - the listeners! Make sure you are strapped in and ready as we're ramping things up next week as we're live from Malmö! Head over to our social media sites now for more videos, photos, and games! On April 30th 1994, the Eurovision Song Contest came to Ireland for the fifth time following back-to-back wins. Today, we're celebrating 30 years since Dublin hosted an iconic edition of the contest which saw Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan complete the hat trick for Ireland, the iconic interval act performance and birth of Riverdance, and ultimately Ireland's sixth win. To help us celebrate, we're delighted to be joined by three iconic figures from the 1994 contest. To start, we chat the one of our hosts from the evening - Cynthia Ní Mhurchú. Alongside the late Gerry Ryan, Cynthia guiding over 300 million viewers through the extravaganza on the night - including introducing Riverdance to the world. Of course, we could not celebrate the 1994 contest without speaking to the winners. It is an honour to speak with the rock 'n' roll kids themselves, Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan. Paul & Charlie share how they came together to perform "Rock 'n' Roll Kids" on the Eurovision stage, share funny stories from their travels across Europe, and how the song remains as popular as ever. In this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou react to the running-order for both semi-finals. On March 26th, SVT and the EBU revealed the running-order for both semi-finals. As we know, this year will see the Big 5 + Sweden perform their songs in full amongst their fellow competitors in the semis. If you did not know, producers determine the running-order with staging plans, colours, and style all taken into consideration. During the allocation draw in January, each country was drawn into either the first or second half of the first or second semi-final. From this, producers determine the running-order! On this episode of Éirevision, we're chatting about the final five songs to be added to the class of 2024! Greece, Portugal, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan all revealed their entries for Eurovision 2024. Greece were one of the earliest country to reveal their artist for 2024. They internally selected Marina Satti back in October however, they are one of the last to reveal their song. "Zari", meaning "Dice" gives us traditional Greek rhythms alongside a fantastic vocal from Marina. Portugal's Festival da Canção 2024 was the final national final of the season. Iolanda took the crown with "Grito". The song translates to "Scream". Will Portugal's qualification streak continue? Georgia announced Nutsa as their representative in January. Now, she's coming to put out the fire with her song "Firefighter". The song uses 'firefighter' as metaphor for the fight against various negative aspects like wars, envy, and hate. Georgia haven't qualified for the final since 2015. Will their luck change this year? Armenia have decided to send LADANIVA and their song, "Jako". The song asserts the right to think freely and to be whoever you want to be. LADANIVA, comprised of Armenian vocalist Jaklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas, bring a multicultural mix of ethnic sounds, unique experiences and authenticity.  Azerbaijan were the final country to release their song. They have chosen FAHREE with the song, "Özünle Apar" which features Ilkin Dovlatov. Head over to our social media sites now for more videos, photos, and games!
