Jake's second appearance on the podcast was something very special. 40 episodes in and by a country mile, that was the best one yet. Never one to be held back by the line of questioning, Jake and I touched on a wide range of subjects as varied as teenage money laundering, bringing back Mephedrone and "The Indie Rip."We even mentioned his choice of album a little bit, the glorious 2008 masterpiece by Mystery Jets, 21.Hugest of shouts to everyone that came out to the stunning venue of West Hampstead Arts Club last night. There's no doubt about it, cut me and I bleed indie, but for episode 39 we’re delving into a new genre for the podcast….This show has allowed me to display my expertise and knowledge in all things 00's and skinny jeaned. Yes, I was a proper Junglist and on todays episode I get to prove my D n' B credentials with a man that has been setting dancefloors alight since 2008, from the Depressed CEO Podcast it's Jimmy The Gent!Jimmy was a dream of a guest and I had so much fun inviting this total stranger to my hotel room to deep dive his emotional attachment to the debut album from Drum n' Bass pioneers Chase & Status. (what a sentence)We also discuss edibles in hotel mini bars, singing at record store staff to find a song and DJing to Gen Zers.

This weeks episode see's me joined by the frontman of a Canadian band in the thick of a European tour. It's Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd!We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs in this episode, but it's also the most anxious a guest has made me feel by a LONG way. Tom share's a truly incredible story about his band's first time playing a KEXP session....... honest to god, I'll be carrying the second stress of that experience for a long time to come!Tom's album of choice was an absolute joy to discuss. Orange Juice's 1982 debut was the blue print for so many of my favourite bands like The Maccabees, The Cribs and Mystery Jets, so there is much to discuss....We also talk 6 Music Dad's, Basshunter inspired Scottish bangers and of course, Lisa Vanderpump.If you've not listened to Ducks Ltd yet, they released their second album, Harm's Way, last year and it is an exhilarating masterclass in indie jangle. Something a little different today....It's been a glorious summer and watching stadiums full of Oasis fans in my social media feed has been an absolute joy to behold. On so many occassions, there's been fans (mostly men) crying their eyes out at these shows. Me included!So on this episode I wrote a few words asking why Oasis so often have me and so many other people crying their eyes out. There's a few contributions from listeners , but it's mostly a solo episode.I'm really proud of this change from the normal format and would love to know what you all think of it. Oasis? The Maccabees? Rilo Kiley? Wuf Lyf? The Rapture? It's been a year of big come backs. But not one of them has the cultural heft of today's guest's truly massive comeback.In the mid 00's David Chanell took a Hertfordshire town and injected heavy levels of indie to a place that was dangerously negelected in skinny jean wearers.With his clubnight (and indeed his band!) back to business this Autumn, it only felt right to get David on the pod to hear about how his band, The Fullertons, went from playing Walkabout in Watford to playing shows in Moscow.He picked an almighty riff machine of an album and in this episode, we talk about finding your tribe in independent music venues (shout out to Trinity!),having big hair and questionable scarf wearing.If you're not a fan of the cigarette smoking Southern riff merchants, then at least listen for my truly absurd intro to this incredible album, where I imagine a world in which the fourth Kings of Leon album didn't exist...Enjoy irresponsibly.

Hot on the trail of Glastonbury, I've just had one of the biggest weekends of MY LIFE!On Friday night I got to witness LCD Soundsystem turn Brixton into a joyous sweaty mess.Then on Sunday, it was the come back of the year (I definitley can't think of any other come backs this year....) it was The Maccabees in Berlin!It was such a joyous couple of days, I couldn't not mention it on the podcast.
