Esther Ibanga is the first African woman to win the NIMANO Peace Prize. She brought peace to the warring communities and led advocacy campaigns against the incessant killings of women and children, through her NGO, Women Without Walls Initiative, WOWWI
Prof Maathai Wangari was the first African woman to receive the prestigious Nobel prize for Peace. She was the first woman to obtain her Doctorate Degree in East and Central Africa. She founded the Green Belt Movement which stood to conserve the environment and planted millions of trees during her days.
