the reason the character of Daniels turn down the role of bubbles is because he just came off of another David Simon show called the corner and he was the drug addict in that and didn't want to get Typecast.

On the bit about Godfather, Rawls and Rocky, think it's clear there's a difference between racist characters and racist movies, or between showing racism and being racist. Rawls along the show is obviously a racist character, Godfather ain't a racist movie because it has shown a minor racist character in it...

This a great show. Hosts have charming banter and give thoughtful insight on the shows. They never talk over each other and truly take in what the other is saying. So glad I found it and so sorry I'm out of episodes. I burned through season one in a wek Rewatch number two for me and ready to startagain to watch along.

I like the LeBron v Kawhi comparison but I would tweak it. To me, if you bring up LeBron, you bring up all around greatness that doesn't apply to McNulty. While I've never heard anything bad about Westbrook off the court, I do think he has a hard headedness in his being that parallels McNulty beautifully.

The Wire is one of my top 3 favorite shows of all time. I'd been meaning to rewatch it for a while but hadn't taken the time. This podcast was just the push I needed. I've been listening to each episode and then watching the corresponding episode, and it makes watching it again even better than the first time. Love the insightful, sometimes humorous, sometimes serious commentary! Jemele and Van have great chemistry as hosts.
