Description

Dan Harris is a fidgety, skeptical ABC newsman who had a panic attack live on Good Morning America, which led him to something he always thought was ridiculous: meditation. He wrote the bestselling book, "10% Happier," started an app -- "10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics" -- and now, in this podcast, Dan talks with smart people about whether there's anything beyond 10%. Basically, here's what this podcast is obsessed with: Can you be an ambitious person and still strive for enlightenment (whatever that means)? New episodes every Wednesday morning.

this is such an important and amazing podcast! as a fan of Brett Eldredge I never knew that he struggled with anxiety or anxiety attacks. I've always loved how real and authentic Brett is with his fans and on social media. Thank you for this

I love the whole episode but specifically at the very end where they elaborate on who am I what do I want what is my purpose. It's important to remember that and a good reminder for myself today thank you!

Informative. I am waiting for someone to discuss the effectiveness of wearable neurostimulation devices for anxiety, depression and insomnia. There are two FDA approved devices, both which require a prescription.

OMG OMG OMG...THANK YOU THANK YOU I am a 'recovering Christian' - so many things in this resonated. I mentioned meditation to a dear friend of mine and she said that exact thing, 'opening to demons...' - sigh. THANK YOU for bringing this to the table. As I read my bible, it is SO CLEAR that Jesus was incredibly mindful and meditated. It's, like, RIGHT THERE!! I could go on and on...for now, thank you, nameste, bless you and everything in between. HUGS

Adderall is not "meth"amphetamine... it is simply amphetamine salts... and can be detrimental for folks with any kind of (even treatment resistant) depression, in the long run...

Hi there Dan, I'm pretty sure that yoga is meditation. One is deeply focused on the breath. Each movement corresponds to an inhale or exhale. If you do yoga without each exhale or inhale corresponding to a movement, that does change the dynamic. The Focus on breath is central to Ingengar and Astanga yoga. If you practice yoga correctly, after 45 minutes, you are, as you say, at the deep end of the pool by the time you're done. Love your podcast. You're changing the world.

Maxwell Smart Hi Yvonne! You're right; however, there are some people who do not do yoga for the meditation and do it merely for "the workout." I often wonder if they're getting the full benefits. As someone who has done yoga for a long time (though not quite consistently) I've noiticed that some teachers and some styles incorporate meditation and the true spirit of yoga a lot better.

Hi! I am a fan of all the 10% Happier media modes (book, app, podcasts...). I am wondering if you can do a podcast on mindfulness/meditation for educators or mental health professionals? I'd love it. Thanks!
