Description

Dan Harris is a fidgety, skeptical ABC newsman who had a panic attack live on Good Morning America, which led him to something he always thought was ridiculous: meditation. He wrote the bestselling book, "10% Happier," started an app -- "10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics" -- and now, in this podcast, Dan talks with smart people about whether there's anything beyond 10%. Basically, here's what this podcast is obsessed with: Can you be an ambitious person and still strive for enlightenment (whatever that means)? New episodes every Wednesday morning.

What is the Buddhist term you mentioned about catastrophic thinking? Perpontia?

I really enjoyed the podcast. I want to add that "negative thinking" isn't understood the way you guys are discussing it. I think you are talking about awareness and allowing one self space to feel into whatever feelings are preveiling. Negative thinking is often associated with catastrophising, suicide and other similar emotions. I think the term "positive thinking" has been flogged to death hence so many people dislike using it. However you are not talking about negative thinking and self inflicting depression but allowing one self to feel all emotions including negative emotions. We indeed must allow ourselves to feel it all. And we don't talk enough about it I think. Thanks for bringing the conversation.

this is such an important and amazing podcast! as a fan of Brett Eldredge I never knew that he struggled with anxiety or anxiety attacks. I've always loved how real and authentic Brett is with his fans and on social media. Thank you for this

I love the whole episode but specifically at the very end where they elaborate on who am I what do I want what is my purpose. It's important to remember that and a good reminder for myself today thank you!

Informative. I am waiting for someone to discuss the effectiveness of wearable neurostimulation devices for anxiety, depression and insomnia. There are two FDA approved devices, both which require a prescription.

OMG OMG OMG...THANK YOU THANK YOU I am a 'recovering Christian' - so many things in this resonated. I mentioned meditation to a dear friend of mine and she said that exact thing, 'opening to demons...' - sigh. THANK YOU for bringing this to the table. As I read my bible, it is SO CLEAR that Jesus was incredibly mindful and meditated. It's, like, RIGHT THERE!! I could go on and on...for now, thank you, nameste, bless you and everything in between. HUGS

Adderall is not "meth"amphetamine... it is simply amphetamine salts... and can be detrimental for folks with any kind of (even treatment resistant) depression, in the long run...
