Celebrate Your Wins!

"It's better to share the good than to not celebrate the win because I don't want to make it seem like this is really great; It really is great. It's kind of nice. That's the reward of all the shit you put up with to get to that."Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how our ego can get in the way of us celebrating ourselves. We must fall in love with the process instead of the results. The more we fall in love the process the better the results get. It's OK to celebrate that you've shown up and put your art, yourself, your passions, etc out there. You've got this!10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life. So, if you’re an actor, writer or filmmaker and you like what you hear in the snippets from our Working Actors Community zooms enough to want to be a part of it, CLICK HERE.Remember, “failure” is just opportunity in disguise, and you can flip the script to make your setbacks serve you.SHOW LINKS:10,000 NOs: THE BOOKSUBSCRIBE TO OUR (WEEKLY) NEWSLETTERFOLLOW MATT ON SOCIALFIND OUT HOW YOU CAN JOIN THE WORKING ACTORS COMMUNITY
"It's kind of like being an actor. That's what we do. You can play someone who is considered a monster, but you are not looking at them with the same lens that you might in a normal life. If you have to play them then you have to look at them from a detached viewpoint so that you can get inside their perspective and defend it. And the only way to do that is if you don't judge it, but you just try to observe it and understand it, and then place yourself within it." Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how important perspective is when you are dealing with resistance in life. When problems arise, you can ask yourself what is this here to teach me in this moment? You are no longer becoming a victim to a circumstance and instead approaching it with a growth mindset. This simple change of perspective can unlock the doors you need in order to grow and achieve your goals. 10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life.
"How to we go from just being someone who occasionally feels things and sporadically creates them to someone who can do this on a professional level? Where there's both a consistency and still a spontaneity and an authentic desire to express yourself."Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss creativity and how to create a system that allows us to be an artist professionally. Matt references Rick Rubin and his view on art in the world and the marketplace. He talks about how our art is a reflection of who we are in the world in that moment. No one's art is better than someone else's. If you don't create it, then no one will. This thought process and view on art allows us to stop comparing ourselves to others. It can be the key to unlocking new ideas and allows us to not shut down when we feel inferior to other people's art. You never know how someone will view your art. It may be the next "great" thing. 10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life.
"It's like a made up goal. But I'm going, I'm giving myself two hours. I'm putting the timer on. All of a sudden, it does force you, kind of in the way that Tony Robbins talks about, which is like get into a peak state and then do your thing. Like his whole thing is every day starts with, 'Yes! Yes! Yes!" You know, like getting into that hyped up mode and then you're focused; and then you do your work when you're doing your work and you relax when you're relaxing."Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how we can tackle tasks and execute effectively by getting our mindset and energy into a peak state. Matt references Tony Robbins who uses movement and breath work to get himself into a "peak state" every morning so that whatever life throws at us, isn't too overwhelming.10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life.
"Write for yourself. Make the art for yourself. And in doing that, you will be making the art for others. But you can't really make it for the audience. You don't know what they want. They don't know what they want. And then he quoted Steve Jobs as saying, 'The customer doesn't know what they want, until you show it to them.'"Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how it's important to let our art be an expression of where we are at in the moment. If we focus too much on the audience, the marketplace, etc we can lose the authenticity of what we are creating. You don't always know what the audience wants and as Matt mentions, they often don't either. 10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life.
"You plant the seeds, you don't go look at them every day. Because if you looked at them every day, you'd be like, 'They are not growing. It's just dirt... It's just dirt. Nothing happened. I'm watering them, I planted 'em, like seven days ago... There's just dirt there, forget it.' But, if you walk away and you go, 'No, I planted the seeds. They're done. It's gonna grow.' You come back in a month, that thing has sprouted. You come back in a year, that thing is a tree."Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how it's easy to doubt ourselves when we aren't getting the results we want in that moment. It's in these times that we have to double down on our vision. The external has just not caught up to the internal yet. When you plant a seed you don't go and repeatedly check on it to see if anythings changed. You trust that if you continue to water it, the flower will bloom.10,000 NOs is here to inspire you and help you realize you are not alone if you’re battling to overcome rejection in your career or life.
"Remember that for the next time. It's easier said than done, but you really should own that. When I got out of my way, not only did everybody really respond to me, but I knew I crushed it."Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. Today, we discuss how we can be our own biggest enemy. Sometimes we need to get out of our own way to get the results we desire. It's why sometimes when we are thrown into a situation and we don't have time to think, we get great results. We no longer are wasting energy on guarding ourselves and it allows our true essence to come out. "In some ways we don't have to earn it. It's so against my nature to even say that. But, I always think I've got to earn it before I can get it. And that's why I think for me, the 25 years of earning it, now I'm allowed to receive it. But, you can just click the switch and go, 'I'm going to receive it.'"Today’s episode was ripped directly from one of our 10,000 NOs Working Actors Community weekly zooms where Matt addresses the challenges that face our members. "Digital did not ruin filmmaking. Digital gave us the Duplass brothers. Digital democratized it and then people were like, 'Oh well, it's not digital that's going to ruin it, it's this thing called YouTube that's going to ruin it.' And in fact YouTube is incredibly entertaining and good stuff percolates up all the time. And I would just say, sadly every new technology turn has been met with the same argument of it's going to ruin X, and yet it hasn't."Today’s episode is a sit down with Matt's friend and award-winning film director, Ben Hansford, where they discuss AI and how it's affecting actors & the entertainment industry. Ben, one of the leading creatives in the A.I. & Machine Learning space (which he now teaches at USC), has worked on multi-national campaigns for some of the world’s largest brands including  Nike, Old Spice, Bethesda, Call of Duty, Bungie, Activision, EA, X-Box, Microsoft, Mountain Dew, Marvel, & more.
