In Chapter One of Running On Om, from 2013-2016, Julia embarked on a journey to explore questions of the mind, body and spirit connection with a diverse range of guests. After taking a break from the podcast, from 2019-2020, Julia returned to explore how female endurance athletes and outdoor adventurers navigate these questions and more. Julia is no longer releasing new ROO episodes, but the podcast still strives to empower, inspire, and uplift all who listen to these powerful stories, all the while elevating the women who share them.

Danielle Black Lyons is a surfer, artist, mother and co-founder of Textured Waves, a collective aimed at promoting diversity in surfing. Danielle lives in California with her husband and son and surfs daily. Danielle co-founded Textured Waves with several other women in response to a representation issue in surfing. The goal of Textured Waves is to elevate the culture and sport of women's surfing towards women of color and underrepresented demographics through representation, community, and sisterly camaraderie.
Janet Cherobon-Bawcom is a former professional runner now working as a registered nurse and a running coach. She lives and works close to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Born in Kapsabet Kenya, Janet came to the US on an athletic scholarship, before becoming a decorated professional runner. Janet has run in multiple Olympic Trials (including the most recent US 2020 marathon trials in Atlanta), and represented the US at the 2012 Olympics, placing 12th in the 10000m. She has a half marathon PR of 1:09:55 and a marathon best of 2:29:45, among other impressive running credentials.
Marilyn Okoro is a British professional middle distance runner, who has competed at the pinnacle of her sport at the Olympics, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games. She has spent time in both the United States and United Kingdom training, and is now living in Northern England as she prepares to make the 2021 Great Britain Olympic team.
Ajeé Wilson is a professional middle distance runner, running for Adidas and the Juventus Track Club in Philadelphia. She is a 2016 Olympian, 2021 hopeful and a multiple-time American Record holder. Ajeé turned Pro out of high school, foregoing the traditional NCAA path, forging her own way whilst still gaining a college degree. Ajeé’s drive and determination to succeed is prominent throughout this podcast.
Alison Mariella Désir is a runner, mother, and an activist. She is the founder of Harlem Run, as well as several other running collectives for women. She is a Global Ambassador for Hoka One One, and Athlete Advisor for Oiselle. Alison has a huge presence in the running community, of which she is a powerful advocate for women, both on a grassroots level and on a higher platform with brands and key community leaders.

Alli Penovich is a freediver based out of Florida, competing in the disciplines of freediving and spearfishing. She is sponsored by Amavara, Cobian and Florida Freedivers. Piseth Sam is an athlete and the co-owner of PowerHouse Fitness. She is a licensed massage therapist and certified personal trainer. At the age of five, Piseth and her family fled Cambodia and came to the US as refugees. Piseth practices trauma informed treatments as part of her philosophy that movement transforms.
Jeannie Rice is a fiercely competitive runner. She holds multiple age group World Records and US National Records, most notably breaking her own World Record in the marathon running a 3:24 at the 2019 Berlin Marathon. At 72 years young, Jeannie is yet to slow down and remains determined to keep challenging herself in the realm of running and life. Jeannie approaches running with a love and simplicity that allows her to keep pushing her limits at an age many would have found reasons to cease competing.

Jordan Marie Brings Three White Horses Daniel is a citizen of the Kul Wicasa Oyate, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. She is a 4th Generation Runner, who started running when she was 10 years old. She is an advocate who focuses on MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), and uses her running as a mechanism for her advocacy work. This episode deeply probes topics near and dear to Jordan’s heart.

It is a live conversation between Emma Spencer, an elite distance runner, running coach, software engineer and runs for the Tracksmith Boston racing team. And Molly Seidel, a professional runner for Saucony, living in Boston, MA. She graduated from Notre Dame with four NCAA national titles to her name and remains the only woman to date with wins at both the high school Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships and the NCAA National Cross Country Championships. She ran her debut marathon at the 2020 US Olympic trials, running 2:27:31, to take second and a Tokyo Olympic berth.
Peyton Thomas is an elite runner and PhD student in Marine Biology at the University of Northern Carolina Wilmington. She ran a PR of 2:42:54 to place 78th at the US 2020 Olympic Marathon trials, and was the only American born black female to start. She qualified for the trials at CIM, which was her first road marathon. She has also run the Bigfoot 40 miler, a sister race to the Bigfoot 200 miler.
