Sales Figures of the PlayStation 5 are in the press, and it turns out the PS5 isn't matching the sales numbers of the PS4. We talk about the possible reasons why there's a discrepancy, what makes the PS5 different from Playstations before it, and how it's all potentially having a trickle down effect on the industry that we are seeing now. Of course, there might be a game on the horizon to help really move sales of the PS5 (and Xbox Series as well). We talk about all this and much more in the week in video games, on another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Valve's Rumored Next Game: Deadlock * Could the Fallout 4 Updates Stop? * Microsoft Proteus Controller * Redfall Offline Mode Happening After All   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! We start this week with a major update that occurred not even 15 minutes after we got off the air last week on the Helldivers 2 story. Then we jump into the big news of the week out of Microsoft, and the stunning studio closures including Tango Gameworks, makers of the award nominated and winning Hi-Fi Rush. Why on earth would Microsoft close such a successful studio? We try to dig deep to figure out the reasons why, and take a closer look between the lines of some of the executive comments out of Microsoft.   Also in the News: * EA Revisits In Game Ads * Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement of Announcement * Dungeons & Dragons meets Dead by Daylight * DDR World Announced   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! Sony finds themselves in some hot water with their fanbase, especially in certain countries this week. It was announced that Helldivers 2 on Steam will soon require a PlayStation Network account to log in, however PSN doesn't exist in all the countries where Steam has sold the game! This has led to some very negative reviews by the fanbase, putting a blemish on what has otherwise been a very well received game. We look at the options the fans might have beyond negative review posting. All this and much more in the news make up another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Dave & Busters to implement controversial bet system * LimitedRunGames comments on CDR 3DO game sales * PS5 to add multiplayer invites thru new methods * Nintendo World Champtionships rated by ESRB   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! Rumors for the Nintendo Switch Successor console are heating up this week. Hardware maker related leaks were put on the internet, indicating that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have only moderate technical increases, which make the leaks even that more believable  to our hosts. Is it possible the new Nintendo Switch could even release this year? We analyze all the rumors, and talk about the rest of the week in gaming news. All this and much more on another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Blizzcon 2024 Called Off * ESA On Game Preservation * Zelda Prototype Cartridge Found * Fallout 4 Next Gen Update   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! The servers for Littlebigplanet 3 unexpectedly went permanently offline this week, thanks to a group of punks who were trying to exploit the server. While jerk gamers are always going to exist, we take a moment to reflect on how sad it is that the many customized levels of this game will no longer be accessible. Of course, there was maintenance that started in January, and many people are just now finding out about this, so is it really as big of a deal as we all make it out to be this week? We still beg to have a Littlebigplanet 4 someday. All this and much more news round out another week of the longest running video game podcast now in four digits worth of episodes, Orange Lounge Radio!   In the News:   * Target the Next to Stop Physical Media Sales? * Nintendo Indie World Recap * Playstation E3 Trailer (Bus) for Sale on Marketplace * Fortnite Upcoming Feature Leaks   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! Thank you so much to all of our listeners, wether it's chatting live with us on sunday, or lurking on the podcast feed, for being the fuel to our fire for ONE THOUSAND episodes. A controversial patent filed by a streaming device and TV maker has the gaming community talking, as it might inject even more ads into our games whenever we put it on pause. We aren't really sure how this might work without fail anyway, as some consoles already do their own thing in pause mode. Is this a patent that a company might actually act on? Or will the pushback be too great? We discuss this and much more in the week of gaming news. All this on our last triple digit epsiode as we hit a milestone thousand episodes next week. Thank you all for keeping our show going and being the longest running video game podcast to date!   Also in the news:   * Fight to Stop Online Shutdowns * Xbox Sets Up Team on Backwards (and Forwards) Compatibility * Dragon Quest Exec Producer Stepping Down * Another Studio Accused of Toxic Environment   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! Final Fantasy XIV released on Xbox Series this week, and while Rob took the opportunity to unlock some quick achievements, not every Xbox player has been so lucky. An overzealous algorhythm has allegedly been banning people unnecessairly, for behavior one would expect in an MMO. Is Xbox being too anal rentative with it's policy, or is this a downside of leaning too much into AI? We discuss this and much more in the news on another week of the longest running weekly video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the news:   * Digital Xbox Series X Leaks * Nintendo Testing Center Changes * Sega Sells Relic * Gamestop Struggles   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! A radical shift in editorial content at one major gaming news website has caused the Editor in Chief to resign. We discuss this shift, and the potential reasons behind it, as well as the rise of guides in what people look for online. This also brings us to a talk on how we consume headlines altogether, including a bit of a tangent on some of the biggest headlines of our time. All this and more make up another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the news:   * Steam Family Sharing Update * Patient able to play video games with brain technology * Pokemon Website up for years is served DMCA * Sony PSVR2 Pauses Production   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! The gaming news seems to have slowed down a bit, but that doesn't stop us from tackling the headlines of the week, including a confirmed date for a show where will likely be lots of gaming news, Summer Game Fest. The creator of Summer Game Fest has finally broken a silence on the layoffs occuring in the industry, but are folks on social media holding him to an unrealistic standard? We discuss this and so much more on another week of the longest running podcast about video games, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the news:   * Pokemon Lawyer (former) Comments on Fan Projects * Atari Bringing Recharged Series to the Arcade * Unreal Engine Cost for Non-Game Use * Playstation 5 9.0 Update   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! This week's show was recorded on March 10th, or MAR10 day. A day to celebrate Mario because... it's not his birthday... nor an anniversay... just another silly nerd holiday like some others out there. Nintendo does embrace MAR10 day though with some announcements of their own, including the obvious (a new movie, of course), and the "well that makes sense" (a new lego set). We celebrate Mario and ALL things great in the gaming industry... and drag those things bringing the gaming industry down (certain CEOs). It all makes up another week of the longest running podcast about video games, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the news:   * Yuzu Emulator Folds * EA on Generative AI * Toriyama Akira Passes at 68 * WB to Delist Adult Swim Games on Steam   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! Sadly a horrible trend in the gaming industry continues this week, as Sony has announced layoffs impacting many of their studios in different countries. We try to discuss on this show answers as to why this keeps happening this year in particular, and if there could possibly be an end in sight. On top of this news from multiple studios as well as studio separations, there's a whole lot of shakeup going on in the gaming industry. We try to wrap our heads around this and much more in this weeks gaming news. All on another episode of the longest running podcast about video games, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Pokemon Presents Highlights * Nintendo Claims in Emulator Lawsuit * GTA 6 Devs Take Issue with Rockstar Return to Office Policy * Octopath Traveler Delisted (Temporary)   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! The rumors about Xbox last week were really going into overdrive, and this week we finally got some clarity from some of the big leaders at Team Xbox about the future direction of the gaming platform. The information we recieved seemed... not as hyped as everyone seemed to think it would be. On the Internet? Surely you jest. Still, we talk about the news that did come out including four Xbox titles soon to be multiplatform. In the news later on, we talk about a similar story from Sony regarding PC multi-platform releases. We talk about all this news and much more on another episode of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Switch Rumored to now be 2025 Release * No Mans Sky Omega Update * PC-8801 Ys Releases for Switch * Helldivers 2 Server Expansions due to Successes   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! We were unexpectedly out last week due to storms, and BOY did we come back to a ton of rumors about what's going on at Microsoft. Could there be truth to the rumor that Microsoft is about to exit the hardware business? Or is this just about Starfield and a couple other games going to PS5? As usual, clickbait driven YouTubers blow everything out of proportion. We take a minute to review what we know and what we speculate could be forthcoming. As Phil Spencer has mentioned more information this week, we could have a lot more to dissect on our next show. All this and more round out another episode of the longest running podcast about video games, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * FF7 Rebirth Deep Dive "Direct" with Demo! * BS F-Zero Grand Prix * Disney and Fortnite make Agreement * Ubisoft Defends Pricing of Skull & Bones   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! In what has become a disturbing trend in 2024's gaming industry, a large amount of layoffs happened at Microsoft this week, largely impacting Activision/Blizzard as the result of their merger. While some redundancy is expected, the cancelation of a project that Blizzard had been working on for six years compounded the situation. How do we remain enthusiastic about the games industry when this news never seems to end? Why does it keep happening? We discuss all this and much more on another episode the longest running weekly podcast about video games, Orange Lounge Radio!   Also in the News:   * Palworld Smashing Sales Records, is the Target Growing? * Overwatch 2 Competitive League * Nintendo Reschedules Concerts * LaserDisc Preservation Efforts   All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! The game Palworld launched this weekend on Steam and Xbox Game Pass, really taking the gaming world by storm. The concept of playing a game with Pokemon elements in 4K has proven very attractive to people who have been waiting a long time for their games to look this sharp. However, is there a darker side to this magic? Rumors about A.I. influence, as well as plagarism of Pokemon have started many conversations online. We look at the situation from different perspectives, and talk about how this is sure is sure to tee up an interesting year where the government might start having to get involved. On a special early holiday edition of Orange Lounge Radio, our hosts talk about the recent hack of Insomniac games. The official news came out this week that E3 would be no more. Of course, if you've been following the show's updates since the last show happened in 2019, this isn't too much of a surprise. However now the industry can move forward in deciding what's next. What do we speculate will happen next, does a new show pop up to take it's place? Does something existing fill the gap? Is there even a gap to be filled?
