Matthew and Dean finally deliver on their long anticipated coverage of Battlestar Galactica. Matthew hasn't seen any episode of BSG and Dean has seen every episode of BSG. This is the first time the lads have covered a show with this particular wrinkle, and it makes for some interesting conversation. LSG Media is proud to present "Recommissioned: A Battlestar Galactica Podcast". We will be covering all four seasons with brief breaks between seasons. Expect new episodes to drop every Thursday. Just a quick update on our BSG podcast scheduling. We will be returning the week of December 10, 2018.
Matthew and Dean finally tackle "Razor", and the lads have plenty to say about this peek back at the days of the Pegasus under Cain. The lads put command decisions back under the microscope to see if the actions of Cain or Shaw are good, bad, right, wrong, just, or unjust. Matthew and Dean officially start their coverage of season 1 with the great episode, "33" - dive in and watch Matthew's crazy theories unfold as Dean leads him along through the maze that is the motivations of the Cylons. On this week's episode listen as Matthew comes to a stunning (perhaps not so obvious) conclusion as to why Boomer is soaked and sitting on the Galactica with some memory issues. Perhaps he isn't as astute as we originally thought? Matthew gets his first introduction to Tom Zarek, and the lads get into a discussion about the inmate population, and the logistics of handling prison labor while on the run from the Cylons. How much are you willing to risk over one person's life? This is one of the central questions that BSG asks us this week and Matthew and Dean dive deep into the opposing stances of Tigh and Adama as it relates to Search & Rescue Operations for Starbuck. Is Adama's relentless searching a liability for the fleet? Is Tigh in the right to point out that the entire fleet isn't worth the danger of pushing the search? Starbuck's discovery also has the lads discussing the biology and (possible) evolution of the Cylons. Another strong episode with the great one-two punch of both moral and physical conflicts. An inquest shines a light onto prior decisions by Adama to keep the cylon threat classified, and it also places one of Chief Tyrol's subordinates directly in the line of fire for Hardian's relentless interrogation. Is the hearing justified or simply paranoia run amok? Matthew and Dean examine these decisions and discuss possible alternatives had things gone a little differently. Dean finally gets what he has been waiting for: more Gaius Baltar. He's been promising Matthew that Gaius is an interesting character, and Matthew is starting to see the light. The lads try to shed some light onto Gaius by evaluating him as a character. Is Gaius a man who has experienced an easy life because of his innate talents? Can he relate to Adama and the rest of the crew? Can Adama and the rest of the crew relate to him? Is Gaius a good person? Is he a bad person? How does he stack up against the rest of the crew in terms of value v. liability. No matter what the answers are - Gaius always provokes great discussion. The lads had a bit of a layoff between recordings, but that won't effect the end listener. It was - however - a perfect episode for Matthew to come back in on. Matthew has plenty to say about the heavy focus on Starbuck, as well as the focus on the Cylon mythos. Dean likens himself to Leoben;  He is watching truth float past Matthew in the proverbial stream. He leads Matthew along, but is he helping or simply dumping half-baked philosophies into Matthew's fertile mind? Have a listen and learn about all of the mysteries of "Flesh and Bone". Matthew and Dean discuss the tonal shift with "Tigh Me Up" and how it seems oddly placed in the series. Ron D. Moore himself decided to "punt" on the original take of the episode which was to be much darker. The thought process was to let the audience come up for air after a heavy and dark preceding episode. The lads did find plenty to like this week especially as it relates to Gaius Baltar, and of course the titular, Saul Tigh and his tumultuous relationship with Ellen.  Follow Dean on Twitter. @Dean_LSGMedia Follow Matthew on Twitter. @MatthewFromLSG Follow LSG Media on Twitter. @LSGMedia Support LSG Media by becoming a member. More love for Gaius Baltar as well as some fighter pilot chops from Lee Adama. Matthew and Dean lean towards this being the best physical action of the season. Matthew had a few gripes with the finale, but his mind is "spinning with Cylon conspiracy thoughts" and he can't wait to hit you with his theories. Dean recalls the first time he watched this episode and the level of excitement he felt when Adama and Rosalyn went head-to-head. Dean is also a big fan of Chief Tyrol and Colonel Tigh this week. It's fun watching an old favorite along with some new people, especially when one of those people is fresh and unspoiled.
