You cannot talk baseball and softball without discussing the role and significance of the umpire. This week, I got the opportunity to talk to the first woman to umpire a Division 1 baseball game. That woman is THE Natola Hawthorne. She is not just significant from a historical standpoint, but she gives excellent information on the role of the umpire in a way that you may have never considered along with how it all came to be. This episode was historical, moving, and an important point for all of us to see the significance of women in this space AND how we can all benefit from learning, promoting, and being in the moment of the evolution and acceptance of Women in Sports. The AUSL officially concluded its season with the All-Star Cup ending on August 31st and crowning its inaugural winner. I discuss who the Top 4 are, from where you may know them, and crown the actual winner. Alignment brings happiness and peace to anyone who experiences it. Now, add that to both softball and baseball. In this episode, I discuss how alignment positively affects softball through the AUSL and the Team USA softball team that recently competed in the Team World Games. I also discussed the possibility of alignment and expansion teams to the MLB. What will it look like and what are some questions that still linger? The AUSL concluded its inaugural season and crowned its first champion. Though the season may be over, professional softball fans will have the opportunity to continue to engage with the AUSL through the All-Star Cup that takes place August 2nd-31st. I discuss all about this new competition that the AUSL is bringing to fans that gives us all a new way to engage in softball. The collegiate baseball season concluded this week with the Men's College World Series and a familiar name as champion.
