People often ask us how we start a project and where the inspiration for a design comes from. When designing kitchens and baths, the inspiration often comes from a tile that we have fallen in love with. Today we are going to talk all things tile with our guest Ryan Fasan, who is a Technical Consultant and Ceramic Tile Specialist with Tile of Spain. We are in good hands with Ryan today and excited to talk to him about the latest in tile trends in preparation for the upcoming Coverings Expo held in Atlanta in April, which we will both attend. Listen to today’s episode here: https://spoti.fi/3I46Lve?
Watch today’s episode on YouTube: https://bit.ly/InsideDesignYouTube Key Takeaways: Green and blue tiles are still a fan favorite as the pandemic driven trend of connectivity with nature remains hot. Plan ahead during the construction/renovation phase when using large format tiles to avoid unnecessary cutting of tiles. Did you know that beautiful textured and colorful patterns can be digitized on to tile?  SPONSOR This episode is sponsored by Currey & Company, an Atlanta-based, second-generation family owner-producer of beautiful residential and contract lighting, in-stock case goods and upholstery, and a broad range of statement-making accessories. If you are attending High Point Market, Currey & Company is an absolute must on your agenda! They will be showcasing 300 new introductions to this market including several chandeliers made with green bottle glass that we are very excited about. They always have a great lunch and much-needed cocktails to accompany a long list of book signings, parties and — this Spring — a pop-up with Threads, a new high-end pillow line.  Most importantly, Currey has a brand-new website with tons of new features! Just a few that we will definitely be using are the true freight calculator, a configurator for the multi-drop pendants, multiple ways to search and also the ability to make project boards.  So check out our dear friends and our go-to source at curreyandcompany.com.  BIO – KANDRAC & KOLE Voted one of “Atlanta's Top 20 Residential Interior Designers” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Kandrac & Kole Interior Designs is an acclaimed design firm with two decades of experience serving residential and commercial clients. If you are overwhelmed with all the demands of social media as it pertains to your business, you are not alone! Besides running a full-service design business and hosting a full podcast schedule, Joann and I also do our own social media. Yes, we have pondered the notion of contracting this out, but we are too committed to our authenticity to embrace the idea of handing it over to a third party… so here we sit.  TikTok is a platform that we have yet to fully jump on board with and that will probably actually change after today’s episode. Our guest Lauren Moore is a content strategist who helps brands find their voice and grow their online presence for business results. Today Lauren is going to talk to us about why TikTok can help you grow your Instagram following and how her side-hustle book club went viral. Her work has notably increased the organic reach of clients, including major brands like MTV, Campbell's, and Subaru, contributing to more than 12 million combined follower growth. In collaboration with Phil Pallen Collective, she has strategically guided and grown more than 350 brands globally. Lauren is the founder of @BookHuddle, a vibrant community of 130k book enthusiasts that hosts reading retreats across North America. She believes anyone can achieve their dreams with hard work and an open mind. SHOW NOTES Trends come and go, and they influence us whether we realize it or not. In this episode, we talk about what’s IN and what’s OUT for 2024, how to balance new trends with updated classics, and how to know when it’s time for a refresh. 1.    SPONSOR We source a lot of Norwalk furniture in our projects for a number of reasons, one being that Norwalk builds heirloom quality furniture rather than landfill quality furniture. You know what that is also called? Sustainable! Doing their part to create healthy homes and environments is a core principle at Norwalk and we want to be a part of that. Another reason is that, unlike many other manufacturers, Norwalk has a particularly fabulous array of patterns and bright, fun fabrics to partner with performance fabrics, leathers, and textures like boucle and velvet. If you are in the Trade, you really must be sourcing Norwalk Furniture. Check out their website – norwalkfurniture.com and especially their 360-Design tool to help visualize pieces. They are now shipping in under 8 weeks! Key Take Aways: 1.    Learn what classic items stand the test of time and what to spend your money on. 2.    Why wellness and restoration is so important and how to create it in your home. 3.    How many years you can get by before it’s time to update your furnishings. In this episode, we share inspiration and insights from our experience attending the Aspire Summit in Atlanta, a two-day event for entrepreneurs aimed at inspiring growth financially, professionally, and personally. We are always looking for ways to grow, and thought an event NOT focused on interior design, but rather on small business success, would be a breath of fresh air.   Key Takeaways: 1.    Take time AWAY from your business to work on your business. 2.    Nobody cares more about your money than you. It’s important to increase your financial IQ. 3.    Visualize the next scene in your movie or chapter in your life. Allow yourself to daydream then vocalize that to the universe and ask the universe to send you signs and signals.   Resources and Links kandrac-kole.com/our-podcast facebook.com/kandracandkole twitter.com/KandracKole instagram.com/kandrackole   BIO: Kandrac & Kole was voted one of Atlanta’s Top 20 Residential Interior Designers by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and has been featured on HGTV as well as in The New York Times, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Home Magazine.
