Execution is the solution!Yesterday Derek taught on identifying the old and new self, today he will teach on the need to learn God’s solution for the problem of the old self. Listen as Derek shares three things which are not God’s solution for the old nature: self, law, and religion. Those methods cannot change the rebellious and corrupt nature of the old self. God’s remedy is execution of the old nature—the execution that took place when Jesus died on the cross for us.
The very nature of Jesus; within us.Today, we explored how the new self is the product of God’s Word, the truth. In the new self, God’s purpose and His image are imparted to us. The nature of the new self can be described by the words, righteousness and holiness. The new self is born from the seed of the Word of God, which is divine, eternal, incorruptible, and so our nature produced from that seed also is divine, eternal, and incorruptible. It’s the very nature of Jesus Himself.
Realize the fulfillment of God’s purposes in you life. The new person within us must be brought to maturity through a process of cultivation. As we spend time in God’s Word, we behold His glory and we are changed by His truth. Thereafter we must systematically and progressively deny the demands of the old self and yield instead to the influence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to enlighten our eyes to see what God has for us in the new man.
Are you willing to embrace God’s purposes?God’s purposes for His people have never changed. He’s given us the power and ability to do just what He has created us to do through the incorruptible seed of His Word and the power of His Holy Spirit. The questions we must answer are; Are we willing to lay aside the old man, and put on the new man? Are we willing to yield our lives in obedience to God and His Word? Are we willing to take up our place in the Body of Christ and fulfill the great commission and make disciples of all nations?
The meaning of New Testament is the same as in "last will and testament."We are heirs of a kingdom, but many Christians do not realize that fact, nor do we walk in our inheritance. But first, we must be delivered from the domain of darkness. Satan has no more legal claim against us.
Blessings will track you down when you obey the voice of the Lord...Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. When we walk in obedience to God, we don't have to pursue blessings, they overtake us. Blessing naturally results from obedience to God.
On the cross, Jesus bore the curse that we might walk in the blessings of God.The requirement to Israel in the Old Testament was to listen to the voice of God. In the New Testament, too, Jesus repeats this command when He says, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."
On the cross, Jesus became our substitute, bearing our wounds.Deuteronomy 28 contains the definitive list of blessings and curses-both of which come upon us and overtake us based on one principle: If we listen to and obey the voice of God. Many physical benefits are included.
The will of God for us is abundance--that we may serve Him with joy and gladness of heart.Today, Derek brings out the material blessings that are contained in Deuteronomy 28. If we listen to the voice of the Lord, we will be blessed in the city and in the country...and all that we put our hand to do.
What, exactly, is "the promise of the Spirit"? And how can we receive it in faith?Scripture tells us that Abraham was blessed "in every way," and that we Christians might come into that blessing. The Holy Spirit is called to help us understand and receive our inheritance. Today Derek explains there are five specific ways in which the Holy Spirit helps us.
Did you know the Holy Spirit confronts you with a choice that determines your destiny?Today, Derek explains how we depend on the Holy Spirit in every way. Among other things, He is our Servant-Guide. Confronting us with a choice that determines our destiny is part of His function. He reveals the Father and the Son to us, equips us with His gifts, and guides us to our meeting with our heavenly Bridegroom.
God's divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness. Our God is not stingy. He is not in spiritual or financial need. He is the author and source of everything and He provides for His people in abundance. So how do we become recipients of all that? Through His very great and precious promises in the Bible.
Everything that belongs to Jesus Christ belongs to us, "if"...Today, Derek explains actual steps we must take to obtain the inheritance that belongs to us in Christ Jesus. Listen and be encouraged to hear that ALL God's promises are available to you!
God does not make promises and then change His mind.Every promise of God in the Bible that fits my situation and fills my need is for me NOW-and there are over eight thousand of them! But many of these promises are conditional-we have no right to the promise until we meet God's conditions.
How was Abraham an intercessor? The intercessor, Derek points out, is the one who stands between God and that which is being prayed for. Abraham was an intercessor When the Lord told him that He was going to destroy Sodom, Abraham stood in between and pleaded for mercy.
Moses stayed the Lord's hand against Israel. The Lord became angry with the Israelites because they turned away from Him and worshiped instead the golden calf. God wanted Moses to step aside, but he stood firm, reminding God of His covenant with His people.
Why pray when we know God has purposed to do something?Daniel read that the period was ending when God was going to restore the Jews to their land. Even though by law he was forbidden to pray, he continued to seek the Lord for the fulfillment of His promise to restore the Jews.
For such a time as this...As intercessor, Queen Esther placed herself in harm's way, standing between all Jews and those who wanted to destroy them all. She stood her ground in the face of her own possible execution-fasting and praying to her God for three days and bringing about a change of heart in the King.
Will you stand in the gap for your nation? The one person that God looks for in times of crisis is the intercessor. Today there is guilt and failure on the part of all segments of society-the prophets, the priests, the secular rulers and the people. God is looking for those who will stand in the gap for their country and their land. Will you?
Derek begins this study by looking at guilt and the remedy for it through the Lamb who carries away our sin. We obtain forgiveness of sin by confessing it and receiving our forgiveness, then walking in the righteousness Christ has provided for us; a righteousness which has never known sin, which has no guilty past, and which has nothing to be ashamed of.
