After the toppling and subsequent retirement of Liberal leader Sussan Ley, the hotly contested byelection in the seat of Farrer is seen as a litmus test for the newly led Liberals, the surging One Nation and the emboldened Nationals. Clancy and Errol speak to Independent candidate Michelle Milthorpe, who narrowly lost to Ley in the 2025 election. She discusses the issues facing the electorate under previous governments such as water management and lack of medical access, as well as the threat of One Nation, plus her own personal experiences that led her to politics.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week Clancy, Errol and Wendell turn their attention to the only sensible way to launch a rugby league season. By shipping it 12,000 kilometres across the Pacific and hoping Americans finally understand what a forward pass is. With the 2026 NRL season kicking off in Las Vegas, the show previews the year ahead. The contenders, the pretenders, the coaches already under pressure and the annual question of whether this is finally the Warriors’ year.Thankfully, Fox League host and one of the game’s sharpest minds, Yvonne Sampson, joins the show to unpack Vegas Round, the shifting power dynamics across the competition, the young stars ready to launch and the veterans wondering if it's time to join the London Broncos. From expansion chat to premiership windows and which fanbase is most likely to implode by Easter, this is your unofficial and entirely unqualified guide to the 2026 NRL season.Get around it before your club is mathematically eliminated by May.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week Clancy and Errol attempt to finally answer a question that has plagued Australians for generations: what’s the go with New Zealand? From their polite accents and suspiciously competent rugby teams to their intense loyalty to provincial towns nobody here has heard of, this episode unpacks our strange cousins across the ditch. Thankfully, Kiwi comedian and New Zealand Today creator Guy Williams drops in to explain the cultural quirks, small-town politics, tall poppy syndrome and national psyche of Aotearoa... and why Australians still somehow don’t quite get it. There is a famous saying about politics '“There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen”. Last week felt like a decade. The Federal Coalition has imploded. The entire concept of an 'Opposition' now ceases to exist. What the hell has happened? The Betoota Advocate attempts to explain 'The Coalition' - what it is, how it functions, and why has it all gone to shit. Joining the editors is one man who knows all too well how dysfunctional this political institution has become: former Liberal Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What turns a routine delivery into folklore? How does one wide ball at the Gabba trigger a generation of English PTSD? And why do the strangest, funniest and most chaotic moments always seem to find their way into this rivalry? In Part Two of our deep dive into Ashes mythology, Clancy & Errol once again sits down with Peter Lalor to revisit a fresh batch of chaos from the vault.   From Harmison’s first-ball moonshot that nearly killed second slip, to Stuart MacGill’s 12-wicket fever dream, to Colin Cowdrey waddling out of a Boeing 707 to save England with nothing but a borrowed bat and enormous optimism. Also examined are some of the more questionable cultural artefacts of Ashes lore, including David “Bumble” Lloyd’s broken cock yarn and Michael Slater belting 176 while Alan Mullally put the dog up Narromine's favourite son. It’s another lap through the moments that prove the Ashes is less a cricket series and more a centuries-old soap opera with better screenwriting.   This mini-series is brought to you by BWS. On your way out? BWS are here for it with cold bevvies close by! Follow Cricket et al on SubstackSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I enjoyed this episode, but I’d encourage you to think even bigger. While housing is undeniably critical, it’s part of a broader issue — access to national wealth. The real first priority should be ensuring that the wealth of this country is meaningfully reflected in the lives of all Australians. That includes housing affordability but also fair wages, accessible healthcare, quality education, and stronger public services. Let’s start from the root, not just the branches.

Your guest would be better for the Nationals than the current leader.

The Nats are beholden to Cotton and Coal and farmers are way behind on their list of priorities, that's why the minir parties are growing their votes.
