Hey there double ugly, it's time for one of the wildest movies we've ever reviewed here on Film Junk. John De Hart's Champagne and Bullets (aka Geteven aka Road to Revenge) is an indie film and vanity project that will challenge your very perception of what cinema can be. It's the buddy cop softcore satanic cult action thriller you didn't know you needed in your life. But is John De Hart a creative visionary or just a guy trying to make out with a Playboy model in a hot tub? How many people in this movie are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol? Can movies be so bad they're good or does that just make them good? Not a problem... we're ready to do the shimmy slide on this week's podcast.
The Film Junk Podcast is a goddamn miracle of modern science and this week we're taking a look at another (indisputable?) all-time classic. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has won its fair share of awards over the years but it's time for a modern diagnosis. Is Nurse Ratched one of the most chilling villains ever put on screen or does she actually seem kinda reasonable? Is this a career-best performance for Jack Nicholson? How do we feel about the portrayal of mental illness in the movie? It makes us feel very... peculiar. We're talking about form, content, interrelationships and so much more on this week's podcast.
Hey you guys! It's our first adventure in a brand new format and the Film Junk crew is diving deep into our childhood memories with the 1985 classic The Goonies. But does the movie still hold up without bully blinders on? Is it Dicky D's greatest invention or should Steven Spielberg get all the credit? Let's hop on our bikes and find out the truth about One-Eyed Willy's treasure together.
Just a quick taste of Film Junk's new format starting with a clip from our upcoming retro review of the 1985 classic The Goonies.
