Description
Kaleidotrope Podcast is a queer romantic comedy podcast set on a slightly magical college campus and playing around with romance tropes, particularly fanfiction tropes.
The plot centers around Drew and Harrison, two reluctant college radio co-hosts-turned-accidental-advice-givers who find themselves in the middle of the campus’s oldest mystery: Do happy endings really happen at Sidlesmith? Can you really find your trope?
And if the magic isn’t real, what does that mean for two polar opposites who find themselves falling for each other twice a week for half an hour on a suddenly popular radio show?

I must say, I wasn't a fan of Harrison's stubborn idealization of relationships here, and I think Drew failed to adress the irrationality of Harrison's point. Obviously, not *all* relationships are dysfunctional or built on an abusive relationship, but some are. Believing no relationship is ever unhealthy is absolutely unrealistic, and Harrison's insistence on justifying a relationship built upon blackmail read very shady to me. IRL, people suffer abuse in this type of dysfunctional relationship, and while it's not always the case, sometimes there *are* power imbalances that lead to gaslighting, abuse, and violence in the worst cases. I really enjoy this show, don't take me wrong, but I think this wasn't handled well. It's not okay at all to hear this type of stuff go unadressed and completely validated. These are the myths of romantic love that, by denying that some relationships are toxic by mature (again, blackmail is NOT OKAY), get people into abusive relationships.
This was so sweet! Aw! I'm loving Drew and Harrison's banter sooooo much!
