The Christmas season is meant to be filled with peace, joy, and hope—the good news of Jesus! Yet, in life’s unexpected moments, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by fear, worry, and anxiety. Without realizing it, we may start placing control above trusting in the King of Kings. But how we respond to the unexpected reveals who truly reigns in our hearts. Join us as we explore the stories of King Herod and Joseph in Scripture. While Herod clung to the illusion of control, Joseph faced his fears and chose to trust God’s plan. His response shows us that even in the midst of fear, we can embrace trust over control.

This means examining areas where worldly influences may have distorted our identity in Him, surrendering these at the cross, and embracing the truth of who we are in Christ. God has made Himself accessible to us through prayer, inviting us to boldly approach Him with our needs and desires. Often, we either underestimate God’s power or doubt our worthiness to pray. Yet, God desires bold, faith-filled prayers—ones that can move mountains and perform miracles, like parting seas or raising the dead. Ephesians 3:20-21 reminds us that He is able to do far more than we can imagine through His power within us. The Kingdom of God operates on principles that are entirely different from those of the world, and the church must be aware of this distinction to avoid conforming to the world's ways. While the world's kingdom leads to brokenness and regret, God's Kingdom offers healing and blessing. Jesus instructs the church to be in the world but not like it, showing compassion and humility to help people come to faith. In a world filled with anxiety from financial instability, job stress, and personal struggles, it seems impossible to escape the constant worry that overtakes our minds and hearts. However, in the Kingdom of God, peace is meant to be the norm. While external stressors will always exist, our response to them can be transformed. As believers, we're called to seek God's Kingdom first, laying down our burdens and embracing His peace. To practice this peace, we can engage in prayer and journaling, focusing on God's promises and allowing the Prince of Peace to calm our anxious hearts.
