Description
How did a man who claims he had 13 alibi witnesses get convicted of murder and serve 20 years in prison? In this original series from Dateline NBC, producer Dan Slepian chronicles the case of Richard Rosario, who was convicted of a 1996 murder in New York City. Rosario has always insisted that he is innocent, and that 13 alibi witnesses will swear he was a thousand miles away in Florida while the crime was happening in New York. Ride along in real time as Slepian spends two years digging deep into Rosario’s case in a quest for the truth.

guess what, nobody is required to be nice, or apologize, or give condolences for someone they don't know. the fact that she automatically expects that from anyone is entitled and childish. and to assume someone committed a murder based on this is the problem. everyone wants someone held accountable. However, when you don't care who that is, with no proof, no weapon, no DNA, nothing, is not acceptable. you're just happy someone paid the price. pathetic In my opinion.
didn't have the time? that's their damn job. if the detectives can't handle their jobs, step down immediately. it's sickening how many police , investigators are so far beyond failing.
if this doesn't show you how ignorant people living in New York are nothing will Jesus Christ what a group of ignorant people

I never heard answers to the following questions. • Why was he in FL during the murder? • When did he arrive in FL prior to the murder? • How did he get from NY to FL (bus, fly, drive)? Maybe I missed these answer and if so, please correct me. Thanks

My heart goes out to this family! However, this story could probably have been told in one episodes. Guy gets falsely accused of murder. cops bungle the investigation, they hire Kathleen Zellner after waiting for 20 years, he gets out, real killer is still out there. No twists in the story, straight forward.
It’s really ridiculous for a cop to say “prove you’re innocent” when the burden of proof lies solely on the defense. Our “justice” system is so twisted for this reason: convictions matter more than the truth.
He’s right. Prosecutors don’t give a shit if they are right, they just want a notch on their legal bedpost. It’s repulsive.
Good podcast except the last few episodes. Violent offenders (murder, rape, child abuse)belong in prison. There’s no place in our society for these people, except incarceration...punishment, no rehabilitation required. We don’t need these people to reintegrate into our society.

throw him back in prison
great podcast. My jaw was open for the majority of the episodes. Thank God for attorneys who give their time for cases like this. Hopeless. Don't get caught up in the justice system! Highly recommend this podcast!
What a great story! Very well researched and presented. My heart breaks for the family of the accused and family of the victim. It's hard to stomach the fact that there are many more sitting in prison wrongfully convicted of crimes. It's so nice to see that there are those who are interested in their stories and telling them. I pray that George's family can find some peace and they find the douchebag that killed him!! I also hope that the accused can find some peace one day too....he deserves that. :)
great podcast!
I wonder if it would be possible to put Richard in touch with Nick Yarris? I hear the frustration in Richard's voice as he says, "no one can understand what he's been through," but that isn't so. Mr. Yarris went through very nearly the exact same experience-the biggest difference I can see being he had no family outside to support him through his struggles, and so his fight for the majority of his time in prison was fought solo. Mr. Yarris' story of the way he was able to find his way through all his pain. From the depths of his despair, having lost all hope of ever being free, when he wrote to his judge requesting an end to all appeals and demanding his execution be carried out post haste. All the way through to the place he is now.. free, finally.. and, in the end, truly, one of the most inspiring individuals I have ever seen. Has Richard seen 'Fear of 13'? would it help him to know he's not the only one?
Great podcast and straight to the point. This is a double edged sword, a man is finally free after spending 20 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit and now the victims family has no closure. All of the police/prosecution efforts was focused on Rosario and things were most likely missed, will the persons involved ever be caught now?! The American "justice" system is in need of serious overhaul. It is very disturbing to hear case after case about individuals convicted with shaky eyewitness testimony, ineffective counsel, and prosecutors who are more concerned with keeping high conviction rates than finding the actual perpretrator. It's actually quite terrifying that someone could accuse you of murder and get you convicted or put to death based solely on their word.
i saw it on the news this morning, they are working on getting him freed.. good Lord forbid anyone getting these investigators poor guy had young children.. 20 years in prison for something he didn't did.. should put the judge and investigators in jail for what they did! make it the law to serve time if you mess up this bad in an investigation. shame on them.. and the killer is he still out their!!?? goodness!
your appreciated for following up did he win ? maybe freedom but lost his life
