The word "nuzzle" is being used and Victoria Beckham's humiliation is complete. Yes, we have an update on the devastating private family breakdown playing out in the most public of ways. Including: Why was Brooklyn Beckham's name trademarked to his mum? Why are wedding guests posting, and then deleting their recollections of 'that' dance? And what does the 'Atlantic Gap' have to do with all this? It's all here.  Also, there have been four shark attacks in New South Wales in just 48 hours, with devastating repercussions. So, is it time Australia got better and louder about shark education? And, do you have an age-gap friendship? Amelia Lester, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright discuss an article that argues every 20-something woman needs a 40-something friend. What do both sides of that dynamic get out of those relationships? And why do they confuse everyone?  Plus: The meaning behind Naomi Osaka's "catwalk" moment at the Australian Open.  OH, and if you can't get enough Beckham news, Mia Freedman hosted a subscriber episode for Outlouders, and you can listen to it, here.  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to The Quicky: Are Shark Attacks On The Rise? & Clare Stephens On The Beckham Family Feud Listen to our latest episode: Brooklyn Beckham Goes Nuclear: An Emergency Meeting Listen: The Superstar Podcaster Who’s Been ‘Red-Pilled’ & Was JLo Really That Rude? One of the most listened to men in the world is being accused of 'red-pilling' his audience. But what is that, and has it happened to Steven Bartlett of Diary of a CEO? Our (literal) foreign policy expert Amelia Lester is back and we have questions for her about Greenland. Namely, where is it? Why does Trump want it? And what happens if he gets it? Also, JLo has been accused of being rude when she didn't say "Hi" to the Glambot Guy on the red carpet at the Golden Globes last week. We all love stories of snooty celebrities but is this just an extension of telling women to "Smile"? Plus, on your Instagram it's 2016. So why are we so attracted to recent nostalgia, and what are the tell-tale signs that a pic was taken the year the whole world lurched towards the flaming bin? All that and other excellent stuff too on today's Mamamia Out Loud with Holly Wainwright, Jessie Stephens and Amelia Lester.  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: We’ve Entered The Year Of Friction-maxxing Listen: Our Best Heated Rivalry Theory & Taylor Swift's Mum Listen: A Spectacular Writers' Festival Collapse & The Jennifer Lawrence Dog Drama Listen: Why Mia Really Left... Could you have guests over without cleaning all the way up? What about turning off the GPS when you're driving? How about not tracking your kids and partner, no matter what? This year, it's all about friction-maxxing. Learning to live without a few of the conveniences that have become crutches, all in the pursuit of becoming - no big deal - more human. Em is horrified and Jessie is inspired by this essay in The Cut by Kathryn Jezer-Morton.  Also, Holly's favourite Dax Shepard says that he will pay for his daughter to freeze her eggs when she turns 18. Is this genius, generous parenting, or snow-plough dadding in action?  And, is everyone brushing their faces now?  Plus, our recommendations include something glowy for your face, the best coffee pot in the world, and a book Jessie cannot stop thinking about.  SUBSCRIBE here: Support independent women's media  Recommendations Em recommends a Moka Coffee Pot  Jessie recommends Heart the Lover by Lily King. Since when did cosy chats about books suck up quite so many headlines? Adelaide Writers' Week is the longest-running literary event in Australia and this week it collapsed under the weight of its own controversy. So, Em asks Holly and Jessie, what are writers' festivals for, anyway? Jennifer Lawrence re-homed her dogs after she had a baby and Jessie wants to know why nobody warned her that talking about that will ruin her life. And Jessie would know.   When does a situationship become a boy/girlfriend? And when does a boy/girlfriend become a partner? And does anyone (apart from Raye) like the word husband? Thanks to Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, we have a new commitment ladder for relationships in 2026. Also, the job choice that can predict your age and stage.  And the new endo test that could change everything for women tired of waiting for an answer about why they're in agony.  Oh, and did Holly just get fleeced by Harry Styles?  SUBSCRIBE here: Support independent women's media  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: Why Mia Really Left... It's Golden Globes day and Mia Freedman is joining Holly, Jessie and Em to talk about frocks that landed and jokes that didn't. We're not mad, we'll just wait for our podcast category invite next year.  When a former Disney star decides to put her mothers' group on blast, famous faces included, what could make it worse? Only a defensive Dad entering the chat. Yes, we're unpacking Ashley Tisdale's viral "toxic mums" essay. Also, the Beckhams' family estrangement gets brutal - thanks to a recipe for roast chicken. It's January 1 and Outlouders know what that means. For almost a decade, on the first day of every year Mia Freedman, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright have shared the single word that they hope will define the year ahead.  This year, they picked: Creativity, Nup, and, um, Let Them. But did they live by them? And what about Amelia Lester and Emily Vernem and the wider Outlouder family? It's time to find out, and to pick our words for 2026. Let's just say, some lessons have been learned.  Outlouders, you might hear your words on this special episode. In 2025, we went viral for a concept that was maybe a little too relatable – micropettiness. If you've been feeling slightly annoyed with loved ones over the holidays, maybe a little bit of micropettiness is perfectly acceptable for this time of year.  Plus, hoarding, throwing, selling and Swedish death cleaning — we’re talking about 'stuff' and why what we do with it goes far deeper than just clearing clutter. We discuss why you either love having lots of things around you (or not) and the reasons why many people – particularly parents – hold onto random objects. If you’ve spent the past week surrounded by a growing pile of presents and wrapping paper, we think you’ll enjoy this conversation. It’s the second episode of our Summer Book Club and this time, we’re diving headfirst into Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry. So then, it was the book that promised joy, mess, meaning and maybe a mild existential spiral — did it deliver? 👀 In this episode, Em V, Jessie and Holly unpack: Why this story hits differently when you read it in summer The characters we wanted to hug… and the ones we wanted to gently shake Big love, big choices and the pressure to live a 'beautiful' life Whether this book is hopeful escapism or a mirror held a little too close And the one question it leaves you asking long after the last page It’s warm, emotional, occasionally unhinged (in a good way) and exactly the kind of book you want to argue about with friends. Read it. Feel things. Then come scream about it with us. Summer Book Club Episode 3 drops on January 25 when we'll be discussing the Melaleuca by Angie Faye Martin. Look, it was random, it was rogue and so... it had to be repeated. This was one of our most talked about subscriber conversations this year so naturally, it made the cut when it came to deciding which episodes we'd bring out from behind the paywall as a little treat for you this summer. Enjoy. A particular flavour of jam. Disintegrating straws. Cutlery chaos. Some things aren’t just annoying — they’re downright offensive. After stumbling across a Substack by Tamsin Amy called Things I Deem Offensive, Em V was inspired to make her own list. Jessie and Holly? Naturally, they already had their grievances locked and loaded. From harsh bathroom lighting to chocolate that lies to your face, the trio have some notes for the world. Pufferfishes unite — consider this episode your official permission slip to complain loudly about the little things.  And do we want to hear what gets your hackles up? Hell, yeah.  Support independent women's media Don't miss an episode of Mamamia Out Loud Discover more Mamamia Podcasts here including the very latest episode of Parenting Out Loud, the parenting podcast for people who don't listen to... parenting podcasts. Open marriages have been quite the topic on the show this year so when we were deciding which shows to bring you as part of Our Most Talked About Conversations summer listening, this episode was a no-brainer. Mindy Kaling recently revealed she chose solo motherhood because she didn't want to compromise on money, career decisions, or parenting choices. She joins a growing number of high-profile women who are reimagining traditional approaches to family, marriage and relationships. We unpack the rise of intentional solo parenting and non-traditional family structures. Plus, everyone's talking about this surprise TV hit of the year (and no, it's not The White Lotus). We discuss why it's capturing everyone's attention. And in our recommendations: jelly beans vs brussels sprouts in an unexpected health showdown, and Mia discovers a soothing video trend that's helping her unwind. Which of your festive traditions are just plain 'tacky'? Emily Vernem has a list, and you're probably on it. Holly Wainwright and Jessie Stephens certainly are.  This is the last 'normal programming' show for 2025, and we're leaning into comfort and joy. Thanks for an enlightening subscriber's episode discussing the reasons why Mia took a sabbatical. Mia, I am so sorry that you have been a target of so much hate and to the whole team, copping the detritus via association. I think joining the subscriber's episodes are a great way to re-enter a realm where you love to be and have something to offer. I wonder if having a guest on No Filter who can discuss why people are driven to behave this way would be helpful? All the best. Happy yr back.

i am sick to death of hearing that fresh food is sooo expensive. fresh in season food in the non luxury category is much cheaper than pre prepped and ready made or convenience food. the thing is that people are busy so easy quick solutions are chosen. much of it of low nutritonal value. what's more most australians [see rosemary stanford who is actually qualified to comment] get more than enough protein but not enough fruit and veg. it takes 20 mins to make a nutritious meal from scratch.

my boss jokes on April fool... he sent a message everyone was getting a pay rise. I didn't realise it was the first so I got excited adjusting my budget as relief washed over me that I might not be drowning with the cost of living anymore ... then 30 mins later. April...fools ... cruel

Follow up to Clare's problem with her delivery... I've been a postie for 14 years, so hopefully I can sooth your delivery distress. For access to your blanket after work hours, you can apply for the delivery to be made to Australia Post parcel lockers. They're usually located at shopping centres. You're allocated a code, you punch it in, and one of the lockers will open and behold your beloved blanket. I really love Mammia Outloud and everyone's varied options and experiences. I especially love Clare's insite and passions, and humour. Please never stop podcasting x I'm enjoying this parasocial relationship 🥰 #MammaMiaOutloud #AustraliaPost #parasocialrelationship

hard to listen to them talking about the NSW Birth Trauma enquiry when they don't know much about it, and actually their words are a bit harmful.

Leering is very different to looking up because a beautiful person (young or old) walks past. Appreciating beauty is ok…I look at beautiful women & I’m a hetro woman. Leering has a creepy energy behind it that makes your gut churn. Teach your girls about gut feelings & let them enjoy the attention of being gazed upon briefly because of their changing looks.

cant find a place to comment on the subacriber- only episodes (billionaires giving away money), so here it is: setting aside the tax question (to which I agree with Holly tbh - taxes pay for the roads and other infrastructure Bezos useslike everyone else!), Mia still had no adequate answer to the longstanding fact that Bezos has never paid his workers adequately, and given the obscene profits he rakes in, he could well afford to do so. Why should people who are working a (hard) full time job, still have to rely on food banks etc because they're not adequately paid - when their CEO is making a show of his 'philanthropy'?

pretty sure Marian Keyes talked eloquently about 'The Fear' after a night of drinking - possibly in 'Rachel's Holiday'? I know it as an Irish (Catholic) expression particularly - so very appropriate @jessiestephens90 😄
