We’re in a very practical portion of the epistle, and Romans twelve can accurately be described as epic! Verses one through thirteen beautifully describe how we’re to live and love in these last days. Even a casual observer can see love is absent in all too many lives. Can you think of any time in your life when we have been more divided and Christians have been more disrespected? Today we’re going to see the Lord perform a miracle through the Apostle Peter. Did you know that the Lord has works for you to do as well? But we need to be prepared in order to do them and there is no better way to be prepared than to study the Word of God. Whether it’s at a birthday party, a Christmas get-together or maybe a school graduation, we’re accustomed to giving and receiving gifts. And as we know, many of them are never used or are just put away in storage somewhere. Now God gives each of His children spiritual gifts… but sadly many Christians never put them to use. Imagine how that makes the Lord feel? Pastor Jeff Johnson returns to his study of Romans here on Sound Doctrine and we’ll be focusing once again on chapter twelve... one of a few spots in Scripture that list the spiritual gifts. Whether we’re helping someone get their groceries every now and then, caring for babies in the nursery, or helping teach a Sunday School class, God can use us in powerful ways. We all have gifts the Lord has given us to serve His Kingdom. The question is are you putting the gifts He’s given you to use? God wants to use us and our gifts! It’s not only a high privilege but very fulfilling. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
We return to Romans chapter twelve, verses one and two today. The early part of this chapter speaks of consecration. Put another way, our attitude towards God. We’ll learn that as we give ourselves over to God, He begins to unveil His will to us. Every Christian should have a burning desire to know God’s will for their life. Does that describe you? People will go to great lengths to try to find out what God wants them to do, and what He wants them NOT to do. You may be pleased to know the Lord doesn’t want that to be a mystery. Romans chapter twelve is a good place to turn to discover God’s will for your life. And that’s where we’ll be today on Sound Doctrine. We’ve entered a highly practical portion of Romans. We’re once again in the Book of Acts today on Sound Doctrine as Pastor Jeff Johnson is showing us what the early Christian church was like. There is one common thread that we see. It was that Jesus received the glory. They knew their Lord and were very happy to give all Glory and Honor to Him. Christians today should follow in those footsteps. We turn your attention to the greatness of our God today, and don’t you agree that such a reminder is sorely needed in a day like ours, where hope is low and discouragement is running high? Pastor Jeff Johnson will be finishing Romans chapter eleven where we see the importance of a right perspective of our God. When you come to understand how great and big our God is, you should be left with a thankful heart and want to praise and worship Him. Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll get to know our all knowing, all powerful God, and we are going to marvel for a bit at His grace and goodness in our lives. How should we respond to God’s goodness? The only proper response is to trust Him, and then praise and worship Him. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
We are all sinners. We may not like the sound of that, but the truth is the truth, right? When we blow it, and we all do, we need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness and that nothing can separate us from His love. Need proof? Well just look at Israel. Let’s do that now, as we hear the rest of pastor Jeff’s message, “God’s Provision is Mercy.” To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
We’re digging deep into Romans chapter eleven. And in today’s passage we learn about God’s provision and mercy. And that of course is Jesus. The Lord is our Messiah, and He is Messiah to everyone who accepts His free gift. While Israel has rejected their Messiah, one day their eyes will be opened, and they will experience God’s provision firsthand. As we go deeper into chapter eleven today, Paul is pointing out that God is not done with Israel. He’s looked at the past, present and future to build that case. I’m sure you’ve heard the term, “replacement theology”. It’s a false belief that God is done with Israel. Today on Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson we see that the Apostle Paul is now doing and saying something completely different than what he has in the past and people are skeptical of his new found faith. But we will see he has changed his direction because he’s met the true and living God. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
In the courtroom we’re accustomed to seeing both the plaintiff and the defendant make their case before the judge. All the evidence is laid out. And on occasion there’s what we might refer to as an open-and-shut case. Meaning there’s no doubt, because the facts are clear. Well that’s what we find here in Romans eleven. The apostle Paul is making a very strong case that God isn’t done with the nation of Israel. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
Some wonder today if God has forgotten about His people. Others suggest the Jews have been replaced by the church. But this chapter in Romans makes it clear… God isn’t done with Israel, and they have a glorious future. With antisemitism running rampant today, this is a message that everyone needs to hear. Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson presents a message called, “Down but Not Out!” And we’ll consider what God has planned for Israel. It’s a subject of some controversy. While they have rejected their Messiah, God has not forsaken them. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
As you think back on the evangelists that God has greatly used, Billy Graham and Dwight L. Moody probably come to mind. These men led millions of people to Christ! But what if I was to tell you that God wants you to be an evangelist too? And by His strength and resources, you can be very effective at it. Whether it’s at work, in the neighborhood, or at home. When you think about it, we should count it a privilege to be able to share with others what we have received through the death of Christ on the cross. But very sadly this is often neglected. Some are under the impression this is the pastor’s job. But in reality every Christian is to be involved in the work of an evangelist. So how are you doing with that? Well I think we can all use some encouragement in this area, so let’s turn to Romans chapter ten and join pastor Jeff Johnson To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29?v=20251111
Today, in Acts chapter nine, the Lord has appeared to Saul. In an abrupt change of events Saul is no longer the persecutor of Christians but now proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God. It is a huge change of direction for Saul’s life. The change was dramatic. And as Saul continued to grow in the Lord, his preaching became more powerful.
