It's my birthday today, so I figured i'd celebrate by watching my favorite movie of all time and make Chris and Anita watch it with me! Starting off 2026 with a triple feature of movies I had never seen before. Finally getting this one out of the vault and since we have been taking a short break for the holidays, I figure i'll give everyone an extra present and release it to everyone. A while back, we watched Kubrick's The Shining and Anita was not a fan. She is a huge fan of Stephen King's novel, so I got her to watch the version he did for TV and I was surprised at both of our reactions to it! Where to even begin with this film? It's an original for sure, even though it recycles a lot from other horror flicks. We have some glorious Claymation kills, random aliens, birds and lizards attacking people, a Casio keyboard score that is dying to be remixed by Trade Voorhees, a genuinely creepy scene from the best actor in the film and a plot that had me asking...Why?!? The Halloween Hustle begins and before Anita runs off, we had to get one more Alien film in, especially since this is a direct sequel to Prometheus. They weren't really fans of that film but this one actually has Xenomorphs and some decent kills, so I think it'll fare better. Chris and I also try and figure out our favorite and least favorite horror games, Brent is confused by In Vitro Fertilization and Anita has thoughts about Alien: Earth. The first question I was asked when I told Chris and Anita about this movie was, why?!? Did we really need to know where the Xenomorphs come from? Maybe, maybe not but we're gonna learn anyway. No Xenomorphs this time, just Predators and jungles! This is only my second time watching this film and a first time watch for Chris and Anita. If this was released today, would this be considered a "Soft Reboot?" It certainly feels like one and for some reason, it really made Chris want to go on a holiday of the Jet Blue variety.
