In 1942 the US Pacific campaign wound up creating the circumstances for a tank engagement on a tiny atoll in the middle of the ocean. It was the origin of the expression 'the two-thousand yard stare,' a battle that probably didn't need to happen but still wound up happening, and it involved a lot of carnage amid exactly zero shade. So, of course we were going to talk about it. Tom's series are all dry and boring. His scripts are not as good as Joe's. I had to stop listening to both the IRA series and this one because I got so bored I couldn't pay attention. It would be unwise to let Tom write another series. This podcast loses it's magic when he does. Joe's scriptwriting abilities are much better. #NoMoreTom
