The Sam’s open with Ipswich, Leeds, and Southampton all winning twice while Foxes dropped 2 points at last place Wednesday. QPR is almost out of trouble with a couple of big wins. League 1 has seen Pompey move back into first place. Not much changed at the top in League 2 as everyone drew over the midweek. More magic of the cup already has 3 non-league clubs advancing to the 3rd round, and one club with local ties for the boys is in their city of Annapolis. www.Dufootballshow.com Support the show and get extra content: https://www.patreon.com/dufootballshow Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
The top of the Championship all blew their opportunities as Leicester lost twice, Ipswich could only manage draws and Leeds got a single point and then lost at home. Pompey is so close to a League 1 title but their draw to Bolton holds it off for another week. Stockport and Wrexham have secured automatic promotion out of League 2.   Welcome to  League 1 Wrexham.   www.Dufootballshow.com   Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
This week both the Sam’s suffered crushing defeats. Man City takes control of the league as Palace and Villa hand Liverpool and Arsenal massive losses. Newcastle find themselves right back in the hunt for Europe by manhandling Spurs. Don’t look now, can Chelsea sneak into Europe after beating Everton 6-0. The Sam’s open with a change at the top of the championship as Leicester won Leeds lost and Ipswich lost in the Old Farm Derby 1-0 to Norwich. Portsmouth is getting closer and closer to not just promotion but winning League 1, while Carlisle United gets the dubious distinction of being the first club relegated in all of professional football. Mansfield lost badly in League 2, and despite being around the top all season they now find themselves outside the automatic promotion spots now.   www.Dufootballshow.com   Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
This week the Sam’s open with the bottom of the table where both Luton and Everton won… wait Everton won, why yes they did. The Northwest Derby sees Liverpool now trailing Arsenal in the table. Newcastle and West Ham both had smash-and-grabs to continue the fight for the final spots in Europe. English Premier League Midweek games did not disappoint, and Chelsea Man U was wild. The whole week had a lot of early goals, Phil Foden got a hat trick over Villa, Arsenal got a chance to rest for a week with an easy win over Luton, Forest finally showed up at home, the Cherries stay on A roll, and the nil-nil match was entertaining.  Unfortunately, we can't go a week without talking about points deductions.    Match order Chelsea 4 - Man United 3 Manchester City 4 - Aston Villa one arsenal 2 Luton 0 Liverpool 3 Sheffield 1  Everton 1 Newcastle 1  Forest 3 Fulham 1 Burnley 1 Wolves 1 Bournemouth 1 Crystal Palace 0 West Ham 1 Tottenham 1  Brentford 0 Brighton 0   www.Dufootballshow.com Support the show and get extra content: https://www.patreon.com/dufootballshow www.DUdripshack.com Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
The Championship completely flipped the script this week as Ipswich leap-frogged everyone into first place. Three teams are separated by a point each. League 1 could be decided this week as Pompey gets ready to host Derby, it would seem the playoff is mostly decided too. In League 2 Stockport has moved back into 1st as Wrexham beat Mansfield but it’s looking like all three are heading to automatic promotion. www.Dufootballshow.com   Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
This week the Sam’s open with the match everyone had their eye on, Newcastle and West Ham! I know everyone thought it would be City and Arsenal, but we also talked about Fulham’s shootout with the Blades before that too. Another match for Everton and another shot of Malort for big Sam. Villa continues their hold on fourth despite Spurs getting a come-from-behind win over Luton. The Sam’s enjoy #4 on Whisky Advocates Top 20 of 2023 Little Book Chapter 7 the retrospect. It was limited matches throughout the EFL as international duty affects teams in the championship and League 1 but that’s not gonna stop the Sam’s from talking about League 2. They also take a moment to catch up on the National League along with the north and south divisions to see how some of the darlings of the FA Cup did. Also, a few surprising clubs have dropped into the lower non-leagues. www.Dufootballshow.com Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
No matches in the Prem but it doesn’t mean the league didn’t give the Sam’s something to talk about. Forest received their point deduction, and Everton faces their second charge as Leicester has now been charged too. What does all of this mean, hell if the Sam’s know but they sure as heck talk about it. What does this mean for other clubs and the league? Could this push the Big 6 to a “super league”?   The Sam’s do this while enjoying #5 on Whisky Advocates’ top 20 of 2023 the Wild Turkey Masters Keep Voyage. Leeds take over the top spot in the Championship as the Foxes, the Tractor Boys and the Saints are all in striking distance. Pompey continues to lead at the top of League 2 as it would seem only Derby is in the hunt. League 2 says Tranmere beat 1st and 3rd place in the same week as Forest Green got themselves out of the drop in the mid-week to find themselves back in the drop by the weekend.   www.Dufootballshow.com   Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
This week the Sam’s open with Luton Towns roller coaster of a week. Losing to Bournemouth, drawing Forest, and then seeing Forest get a points deduction. The FA Cup was fantastic as Coventry advance to the semis, City and Chelsea advance but the Northwest Derby was a banger of a match as Man U beat Liverpool. Around the rest of the league, Burnley got a win, Spurs were “Spursy” and Villa escaped with a point. The Sam’s enjoy #6 on Whisky Advocates Top 20 of 2023 Markers Mark Cellar 2023 release. Catch up with the rest of the English Football League.  The Sam’s open with another win for Leeds as they only sit 3 back of Leicester. Ipswich and Southampton points total would have them in the top 2 if it was another season. 7 spots in the bottom are separated by 3 points. Pompey’s lead in League 1 sits at 5 points but most everyone is caught up on matches. League 2 saw all top 4 side continue winning ways.   For Premier Leauge coverage download the main show:  www.Dufootballshow.com Facebook @DUfootballshow Instagram @DUfootballshow Twitter @DUfootballshow YouTube @DUfootballshow
This week the Sam’s open with Arsenal regaining the top spot as they won late over Brentford and Liverpool drew with Man City. Mel’s Villa took a bad loss to Spurs and big Sam is also back to drink Malort as Everton gave away two cheap penalties to Man U. Burnley and Sheffield give away 2 goal leads, Luton keeps fighting and Chelsea has an impressive win. The crew enjoys #7 on Whisky Advocates Top 20 of 2023 Dewars 21 Mizunara Finished. The Sam’s open with the Manchester Derby outside of a screamer of a goal by Rashford, it was a one-sided affair for City. Everton, Forest, and Luton can’t help themselves out of the bottom despite the opportunities to do so. Villa stays ahead of Spurs, while Newcastle makes a final shot at Europa and Arsenal is seemingly scoring for fun. This week the Sam’s open with Villa’s impressive win and hold on to the final Champions League spot. Fulham completely outplay Man U in their own building and Arsenal’s barrages of goals continue. The Sam’s open with the top of the table as Liverpool set the pace and Arsenal answered, while City didn’t. Villa and Spurs swap the final Champions League spot again. Wolves are proving to be quite a tough out. Forest got a big win, Luton fell at home for a second week and Everton got out of the drop and awaited their appeal decision. The boys are into the top 10 of Whisky Advocates Top 20 of 2023 with Glen Dronach’s 12-year Cask Strength, which both the Sam’s were quite enamored by.
