Ethical manpower is more than a buzzword, it is a mindset we need to be talking about now more than ever.Back in 2011, I sat down with Tristan on Nightline to unpack what ethical manpower really looks like in practice, the tough decisions leaders face, and what happens when you choose to do the right thing even when it is not the easy thing.I am bringing this conversation back because it is just as relevant today as the day we recorded it, especially as organizations rethink how they hire, manage and support people in a world of constant change. If you care about leadership, culture and doing business the right way, this is a must listen.

I'm back with another episode of the Nightline Replay! For over a decade, I was the host of Nightline on DubaiEye 103.8FM and had the opportunity to talk to the UAE community and interview some incredible people. I'm digging back into the archive and sharing some of my favourite episodes. This episode is particularly interesting, especially given the recent discussions about going back to old school analogue methods and the power of writing things down by hand. I had the chance to talk with Sunni Brown and Stacy Weitzner about doodling and how it brings art and information together. This was a conversation post-TED in 2011, and it's as relevant today as it was back then ! Enjoy.
Some programs only make sense later.I finished my BA at Carleton University 35 years ago and, like most students, I was just happy to be done. But about 10 years later, I realized how formative the Mass Communication experience really was in shaping how I think about media and digital literacy, democracy, information, and the power of a national story. That’s why it was so interesting to sit down with Zach Landry, who’s just wrapping up his four years at Carleton, to hear how the program looks from the student lens right now.Full conversation here:YouTube: https://youtu.be/Mm8ZWeg02a8Spotify: https://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/Zgx9HfzUBZbWhat did you think your education gave you at the time, and what do you see differently now?

Why Study Journalism?

What makes someone choose journalism, not just as a major, but as a career? In this clip, Zach Landry and I jump into the why behind his decision, what attracted him to the field early on, and what journalism has meant to him since. If you’ve ever considered media, storytelling, or reporting, this one will hit home.Grab the full podcast on Spotify and YouTube.https://youtu.be/Mm8ZWeg02a8?si=LKXBC5cCWJVbzwzUhttps://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/Zgx9HfzUBZb
Zacharie Landry, a recent grad from Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication, joins James for a catching up conversation on what it takes to build a journalism career right now. They dig into the reporters who inspired Zach early on, how journalism school holds up once you are in it, and why long form storytelling still matters even as the industry shifts. Along the way, they talk about shrinking local news, the rise of independent platforms like YouTube and Substack, and the tension between going solo and having editorial standards. This is a wonderful look at journalism as a career from a new graduates perspective.
In this episode, I sit down with world‑renowned explorer Adrian Hayes to dig into what truly drives him as an adventurer and how those same forces show up in everyday life. Recorded in 2013, our conversation goes beyond expeditions and records to uncover the mindset, lessons, and hard‑won wisdom Adrian brings back from the extremes of the planet. If you’ve ever wondered how exploration connects to resilience, purpose, and personal growth in ordinary life, you’ll get a lot from this one.

Here is another clip from 2017 and my conversation with Jeffrey Durmer, MD, PhD. A huge thanks to James Kelley, Ph.D. who was my co-host for making this conversation happen.Listen to the podcast on Youtube, Spotify or where you get your podcasts.https://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/AQRfODsz5Wbhttps://youtu.be/faH5tttpasYWe explored how a 24/7 mentality becomes the default lesson we pass on. We hustle, answer emails late, and treat sleep as negotiable. Meanwhile our health, relationships, and creativity show the strain.Listening back now, the ideas we discussed then matter even more today. If we want children who value balance and sustainable productivity, we must demonstrate it. Protecting sleep, setting clear boundaries around work, and treating rest as essential are small changes with big long term benefits. This clip is a throwback invitation to reflect and act. Are we modeling the life we hope our children will lead? If not, what one change could you start today that they will learn from tomorrow?I’d love to hear practical ways you or your family protect sleep and balance.
