In the final episode of the season, Everett German joins the show to recap Charleston's NCAA Tournament loss to SDSU and preview the summer ahead. We also share our favorite memories from the year, and reminisce about a special basketball season in the Holy City.
Minutes after the NCAA Tournament bracket is revealed, Tommy is joined by friend-of-the-program Ryan Teichler to react to the 5-12 matchup between the College of Charleston and San Diego State in Orlando. We take a look at what the Aztecs do well, where the Cougars may have an advantage, and the rest of the South region.
Less than 24 hours after watching Charleston cut down the nets, Harrison Bowne and Tommy react to everything that went down at the CAA Tournament: Reyne Smith goes streaking, physical play vs. Towson, Ryan Larson's heroics, and much more. Then we talk possible NCAA Tournament seeding, and the unique pleasure of not sweating out Selection Sunday.
Harrison and Tommy recap a dominant regular season finale win over the Stony Brook Seawolves, Senior Day recognition, Benny Buckets' career night, and an impressive comeback win over the Towson Tigers. Next, we look at the NCAA Tournament bubble picture and vent our frustrations about the disrespect for the Charleston Cougars. Finally, we cool off and preview Charleston's bracket matchups in the upcoming CAA tournament.
Everett German is back on the podcast to recap the Northeastern and Elon games, and answer some lingering questions about the Cougars. We discuss which Charleston players we'd like to see on the All-CAA teams, the bench vs. the starters, the value of the floater and more.
Charleston got back to their winning ways this week, completing season sweeps of UNCW and Hampton. The overalls-clad Logan Kennedy joins the show to discuss a dominant route of the Seahawks, Pat Robinson and Benny Buckets' big week, and Ryan Larson returning to form. We also discuss the CAA's newly-announced extension of their current media partnerships.
Our favorite Philadelphia-based anonymous Charleston alum Redshirt Junior joins after watching Charleston drop a bubble-bursting game to the Drexel Dragons. We chat what led to the disappointing defeat, and how the Cougars recover from here on out. Then we turn to a much-needed win at Delaware, and compare CofC and Hofstra schedules down the home stretch.
Following the Cougars' first loss in months, CofC broadcaster Danny Johnson - who won 25 straight games with the Cougars as a senior - reflects on the Hofstra game. We talk silver linings from the loss, a good loss vs. a bad loss, and what we expect from the Cougars on Thursday. Then Danny answers questions submitted from the CofC Fans Discord channel.
One of our favorite New England Cougar fans checks in after Charleston's dominant win at Northeastern. Tommy and Martin talk about the CofC crowd at Matthews Arena, how Kelsey's Cougs have flipped the script on Bill Coen and Reyne Smith going nuclear at Monmouth. Then we check the CAA standings at the midway point of the conference season, and preview the games ahead.
We've got a jam-packed Holy City Hoops episode, breaking down a decisive 3-0 stretch for the Charleston Cougars. Ryan and Tommy recap an absolute battle in Wilmington, a first half scare against Elon, and a light-out defensive performance against William & Mary. We also touch on haters poo-pooing the CofC schedule and our favorite Andrew Goudelock memories.
National college basketball writer/podcaster Jeff Goodman joins the HCH podcast to give his impressions of the #23 Charleston Cougars. Jeff describes the atmosphere at The Six, the impressive maturity and chemistry of these Cougars, and why Pat Kelsey is a "unicorn" in the coaching profession. Then we discuss how the program can build long term success, and what Charleston's realistic at-large hopes are right now.
Back from the holidays, Tommy checks in with former CofC basketball player Harrison Bowne after the first week of conference play. We recap a massive statement win for Charleston at Towson, and a dominant home opener versus Hampton. We also touch on Ante Brzovic having a massive week, and the now infamous "shove" at the end of the Towson game. We wrap up by revisiting the #RankCharleston movement and previewing the upcoming schedule.
Our pal Redshirt Junior rejoins the pod to recap the Presbyterian and North Greenville games, before doing a CAA Hoops check-in as we near conference play. Then we revisit the latest recurring segment on this show - will Charleston be ranked in the AP Top 25 poll? Plus #FreshmenWatch, advanced stats, and more.
It was a drama-free week for Charleston, as the Cougars cruised past Old Dominion and The Citadel. Ryan Teichler joins the pod to chat through Ante Brzovic's latest breakout game, the CofC crowd at McAlister Field House, and the team's building momentum. We also try to guess when we'll see Charleston's freshmen, and... multi-bid CAA?
Everett German, voice of the Charleston Cougars, joins the podcast to recap last week's narrow victory over Kent State. We discuss Big Shot Scott, the "Everybody Eats" mentality of the team, and who has been the best player for CofC thus far. Then we talk AP voting, and whether Charleston will crack the top 25 (and if that matters).
Minutes after Charleston upsets Virginia Tech to win the Charleston Classic, Tommy and Anthony are on the mic with their instant reactions. We chat through the atmosphere at TD Arena, the versatility of Charleston's roster, unexpected defensive performances and much more. We also talk through how this title sets CofC up for the rest of the non-conference schedule and into CAA play.
It was an eventful first week of College of Charleston basketball as the Cougars went 1-1. Our pal "Redshirt Junior" is back on the podcast to recap a euphoric but ultimately tragic game against top-ranked North Carolina. We also recap a solid season-opening win over Chattanooga. Next, we look ahead to another tough battle against Richmond at TD Arena, before previewing ESPN's Charleston Classic field.
College basketball is back and we'll get you up to speed before tipoff. Harrison joins the pod to recap a busy offseason for the Cougars, from the national waves made on the recruiting trail, to conference realignment. Then we preview the Cougars' two games this week:
Leading returning scorer Reyne Smith makes his Holy City Hoops debut. Reyne looks back on his rookie season, the differences between Australian and American basketball, and how he spent his offseason. Then we look ahead to expectations for this year's Cougars and how his role figures to change.
The Holy City Hoops podcast returns, welcoming back Coach Kelsey to preview the upcoming College of Charleston basketball season. Kelsey talks about what he took away from his first season in Charleston, how this squad differs from last year's roster, and what each new player brings to the program.
