The Bears went to Green Bay on a roll to face a pretty lousy Packers team, and Tyson Bagent gave them zero chance of winning, and then the defense decided to treat every Green Bay long pass like a tornado drill. The Packers can't stop the run, and the Bears are the best at running it, so naturally, they just didn't bother to do it. But hey, at least a lot of defensive players got hurt! Caleb might be back next week. Not a moment too soon.
Jed Hoyer's post-season press conference might not deserve to be picked apart comment by comment, but let's do it anyway. He seems to think he build a World Series roster that fell hilariously short, that the Cubs have elite hitting and defense and a teensy tiny bit of a pitching problem. Allow me to explain to him how much of that is wrong.
The Bears won a second straight game with a backup quarterback and technically they started the same guy, but Tyson Bagent played as well as his less than electric arm will let him in a 23-12 win over the Jets. The Bears dominated the entire game, but things got mildy spicy when a two-play TD drive by the Jets brought them within 11 points with 9:08 to go. The Bears never gave the ball back. That, honestly, was super impressive. It's the RECRAP brought to you by Schlitz.
It all started with two dopes and a dream. Before the Pointless Exercise Podcast there was The Other 15% Podcast, and the Hire Jim Essian/Desipio Podcast and then just the Desipio podcast. 500 episodes later, we're back where it all began with special guest and original co-host Michael Bradt. In a wide-raging discussion (rambling, mostly) we discuss everything from the current Cubs to media members we used to harass, to old episodes, to Tony Horton workouts, to fun shows to rewatch, to...well, you'll just have to listen to the whole thing. Five hundred of anything is a lot to try to remember.
The Cubs have been a mostly lousy playoff team since they won the 2017 NLDS against the Nationals, and that didn't change this season. They spent less than 27 hours in the playoffs, got eight hits, scored one run and trailed for 17 of the 18 innings. So, if that doesn't make you want to listen to a half hour recap of this, what would?
