Description
We believe that George R. R. Martin has put a lot of effort and thought into creating a deeper dimension of archetype and symbol in his writing. He’s created connections between past and future, between sky and ground. He’s built on classic figures from world mythology and twisted them around in new and incredible ways to fashion his own archetypal characters whose divine roles are played out by the characters in the story. He’s done all of this not only to be artistic and clever, but because he’s actually participating in a grand tradition of esoteric, symbolic art. Keeping this tradition alive is of critical importance and tremendous value to society, and that is why I believe this facet of A Song of Ice and Fire is so worthy of study. This podcast is intended to be our vehicle to explore these inner workings, and it is fueled by enthusiasm, yours and mine.

The Nightfort - the oldest castle on the Wall, the place where Night's King and Queen sacrificed to the Others, the place where the first Night's Watch probably organized, the place where Brandon the Builder probably built the Wall... and the place with the only talking weirwood face in the entire story. There's much to explain!!???? Join our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/davidlightbringer???? Teeshirts & Merch: https://www.bonfire.com/store/david-lightbringer/
Aerea's freaky parasitic worms hold the secret! That and the Alien movie franchise. Come and see exactly how blood magic was used to engineer both dragons and the Valyrians who can control them. Septon Barth recoils in horror, but you plunge on, unafraid. You're a real champ.
Is Bloodraven really the three-eyed crow? Why have he and the children of the forest been watching for Bran? Why do the children even need human greenseers if they have their own? Will the white walkers invade the cave, and how will Bran leave? How far down do the tunnels go, and the underground river? All this and more!
It's the ultimate face-stealing assassin training ground for Arya Stark, but what are the Faceless Men actually doing when they wear people's faces? Is that magic? Why do they have so much weirwood in their House of Black and White? What is their agenda, with Arya or anything else? What does this have to do with House Bolton? And why are they collecting so much dragon stuff?
Everything from how the mysteries of the House of the Undying work to the role it plays in the story (Dany's and Euron's, mainly), including theories about what the shade trees are (related to weirwoods? something else?), where they come from, what they symbolize, what about the little dwarf, and more. Special thanks to artist Oana Novicov for the title image and all her new HOTU art featured in the video! Really outstanding work, check out her art: https://www.deviantart.com/oananovicov712
We know greenseers and skinchangers are psychic, but did you notice that the wolves have their own wolf-to-wolf telepathy, and that the Starks can use it to talk to one another, and even boost each other's magic? Plus, there may be something similar going on with the ravens...
Debunking Ancient Andals theory and proving when the Andals came, how we cane know that, and showing the exact events that caused the Andal Invasion to begin. Plus, "what was the first Valyrian sword in Westeros?"
Is Bloodraven really the three-eyed crow? Why have he and the children of the forest been watching for Bran? Why do the children even need human greenseers if they have their own? Will the white walkers invade the cave, and how will Bran leave? How far down do the tunnels go, and the underground river? All this and more!
My ultimate guide to Dothraki culture, religion, and history begins with the question "where did the Dothraki come from?" They do have an origin that predates their presence on the Dothraki sea, and to uncover it, we'll follow the twin trails of historical / physical evidence and religious / mythological evidence. Plenty of Essosi history, plenty of Dany and Drogo, and even Great Empire of the Dawn mythology included as well!
How does the dragonbinder really work? We know "all Euron's gifts are poisoned," so it's obviously some sort of trick and trap to ensnare Victarion, but how is that going to work? How does giving Vic the dragonbinder and sending him to Meereen lead to Euron claiming a dragon? Which dragon, and where? I have answers to all of these questions with a new Winds of Winter Predictions theory! It's a trap, Victarion, don't blow that thing!
Rumors that Helaena or others could be using glass candles on House of the Dragon Season 3 gave me a good reason to hit you with my best glass candle theories, plus an exploration of their powers, both known and suspected. Did the Targaryens use them on Dragonstone & how does a candle explain the Dornish Letter mystery? Is Euron using a candle to corrupt people like Leyton Hightower or Daenerys? What will Dany see with the glass candle Marwyn the Mage is surely bringing her? How is Starry Wisdom Cult using the candles to enact their agenda? Are glass candles keeping the ghosts of the Great Empire of the Dawn alive somehow??? A brand new Winds of Winter predictions theory here too!
What was "King Egg" (a.k.a. Aegon V) trying to do at Summerhall, and why did it go so horribly wrong? Those are the questions I'll answer, covering both the well-established Summerhall theories as well as some new ideas I am bringing to the table. Explosive dragon's eggs, visions of the Prince That Was Promised, kingsblood, wildfire, and potential maester conspiracy, plus a new find for the "Dunk held the sand-door at Summerhall" theory, it's all here.
Finally, a satisfying theory (with heavy foreshadowing) for what George Martin is going with Rickon's story! Since Rickon is a child, George has based parts of Rickon's plot on children's stories - Where the Wild Things are and Three Billygoats Gruff - and these stories also foreshadow this endgame! Walder Frey is a bridge troll, Skagos is an island of monsters who ride goats.. come inside and @GreyWasteTim and I will explain!
Aemon loves his brother Egg, and his brothers of the Night's Watch. He was once a Targaryen prince, and was once offered the crown... and he's been waiting for the Prince That Was Promised for a very, very long time, discussing the prophecies and portents with everyone from Egg to Bloodraven to Rhaegar to Jon and Sam. I'll also give my explanation for "kill the boy, and let the man be born."
Nagga's Bones, thought to be the fossilized ribcage of an ancient sea dragon, are in actuality the petrified weirwood ribbing of the Grey King's ship, which he flipped over and made into a magical longhall. In theory anyway - this is Grey King weirwood ark greenseer theory, at long last.
This theory was just too tasty to leave as a livestream, so we've edited it down and packed it with art! One of my very best theories, I'm quite proud of it, and it explains how the Deep Ones have been steering Ironborn culture since the very beginning!
My ultimate explanation of who the Others are & why and how they were created, as well as who the green men are, what their relationship is to the weirwoods, and how we can know the they became the Others.
The first Hightowers, the black stone fortress on Battle Isle, the origins of the citadel & the first people to learn skinchanging, the Great Empire of the Dawn and the Church of Starry Wisdom - and most of all, THE MEN WHO CAME BEFORE THE FIRST MEN. And maybe a few squishers. It's all here!
I have combined the Stark Iceberg 1 & 2 streams (8 hours +) into one mega-Starkberg, and of course there's a ton of new art. A little winter-themed entertainment for your winter holidays!
Why does the Cannibal eat other dragons? Was the Cannibal really on Dragonstone before the Targaryens? Why did he fly by the funeral of Corlys Velaryon? And is there a theory / series of theories to connect all these ideas? Well of course there is! And the answer may reveal more about the mystery of the dragonbond and dragon lineages...

excuse me Mr.lightbringer whats the difference between ur YouTube and podcast? I like both but I don't see all ur episodes. how do you pick them for upload?
didn't know you had a podcast bro, crazy. didn't know you liked animals as leaders either, I love them!
seems likely to me that that the resulting red comet is actually spreading it's seed across the moon as it passes by. you need a recurring icy event to balance the immortal fire that's been sent to earth?
Ive always associated the oily black stone as petrified shade of the evening trees used as stone, then maybe melted with dragon fire as well. idk
I'm starting back.
I'm writing this as I listen, I got to the mention of the God Empress and how the Old Ones whisper that she must kill the foreigners. I think GRRM use of Lovecraft is much more nuanced in its xenophobic themes, displaying them in a negative light. Lovecraft's xenophobia & racism really plays strongly into his themes of "other" - and GRRM translate those themes into his Old Ones mythos through displaying how xenophobia negatively impacts humanity, and perhaps how often religions/societal power structures prey on the fear of the other.
