I was really happy to stumble across ex boxer, level 2 coach and PhD resreacher Liam Hardman and the studies he is carrying out around the contraints based approach to learning in boxing. There is little out there specific to boxing so I thought let's call Liam and have a chat.In this episode, we talk about his research both in his undergraduate dissertation and his PhD. We talk about mainly around an internal vs external focus of attention as well how we can use effective cueing to support a focus of attention.Enjoy.Remember to download out new coaches handbook by vititing us at our Instagram Page. Some people have influence on how you coach. Maybe it was your coach, or someone you admired, perhaps some ideas you have acquired over the years. Body bag/protectors have been around a while now, but most coaches use just the focus pads.We think that the addition of a body pad when doing padwork is a very positive step to helping your boxer develop. #124 - Why I Boxed

When ex boxers look back, I think most do so with fond memories. The, 'me against the world feeling' was something special. But not only that graft by yourself, but being part of a team driving the width and breadth of the country to box for a matter of minutes.I wonder how much my boxers share a similar feeling, so today I just take a trip down memory lane and wonder how that can effect my coaching moving forwards.Come and join our membership at www.theboxgathering.com

Today i'm just driving back in the evening from a bout and was thinking about a session I ran today at DiSE.We have lots of new boxers for the year and wanted them working with each other by exposing them all to their own physical and tactical skills.Whilst adding this desirable variability to the session i wanted also to ensure they got to know each other better but with the bi-product of getting their reps in about how to engage differently when facing a new opponent.Join us at www.theboxgathering.com
Two fantastic minds located in the brains of Cal Jones and Thomas la Cour come on the Boxing podcast to talk about functional clinching. This is an area I know very little about as a Boxing Coach and I feel is a huge gap in my knowledge so I approached these guys to talk about a conceptual approach so I could understand this better to help deliver more of a CLA approach to learning for my boxer. Both of the guys talk about a framework to use as opposed to a bag of tricks that helped me understand more around the biomechanics and perception action coupling to employ effective clinching. 🎁 🔥 Remember Monday September 1st is the last day to take us up on our promotion of receiving a pack of sparring cards free of charge when you join as a new member to our premium annual membership at www.theboxgathering.com
