October's disco mix is here. And it's a set of the latest and best disco tracks around at the moment, including GooDisco, Stephane Deschezeaux, Steve Miggedy Maestro, and Morttimer Snerd III, Block & Crown, Hotmood, Per QX, Stephan Duy, Birdee, and Ron Carroll. Oh, and me. Yes, when I was taking a break from putting the finishing touches to my new album (more of that in a moment) I sat down and created what I hope will be a bit of a future dancefloor favourite. "Disco I Love You" isn't available yet, but I hope to finish remixing it and get it out in time for Christmas. So for now, here's your exclusive preview. Let me know what you think. And the album? Yes, it's not a disco album at all. Far from it. It's called "The Gift" and I've described it as a gay man's musical anthology of the queer lived experience. It's rooted in a singer/songwriter vibe, and explores soul, jazz, Latin and electropop influences. All proceeds from “The Gift” are donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK. So please give it a listen happy in the knowledge that every stream and every download is getting us one step closer to identifying the cure for dementia. Thank you. Here's the Spotify link, and it's available everywhere including Amazon, Apple, Deezer, Tidal, and YouTube.Meanwhile, here's the full track list:1 | GooDisco | The Music (Original Mix)2 | Stephane Deschezeaux | Bring me Joy (Original Mix)3 | Steve Miggedy Maestro, Morttimer Snerd III | It'z 2 Hott (MS III Full DizkoSlap)4 | Van McCoy | The Hustle (David Kust Remix)5 | Block & Crown | We need love (Universal Love) (Block & Crown Spolverato Club Mix)6 | Hotmood | 1979 (Original Mix)7 | F Monday | Disco I Love You8 | Sabroso | Runaway Love9 | Per QX, Stephan Duy, Birdee | Move With My Body (Birdee Extended Remix)10 | Ron Carroll | Champagne (RC ReFresher)11 | Adri Block, Block & CrownGo and listen to "The Gift" now. Please! Thank you. And let me know what you think of "DILU" (Disco I Love You). See you soon. XX
I hope you don't mind me sharing my continuing journey in raising awareness and money for dementia research. I'm releasing an album of my music (and it's not disco!) on 10th October 2025. Here I talk about my fears of writing a song about dementia and getting it wrong. I did care for two close relatives with dementia, but I will never know what it was like from their point of view. The first track from the album is out now. It's called Maybe I'm Gay. It's available to stream and download everywhere. Here's the link to Apple Music. All proceeds from the album, called The Gift, are in aid of the charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK. It is estimated that 982,000 people are living with dementia in the UK today, rising to 1.4 million by 2040. In 2022 it was the leading cause of death in the UK. Globally the World Health Organisation estimates that 57 million people have dementia. New cases are occurring at the rate of nearly 10 million each year, which breaks down to about one new case every 3.2 seconds. In the UK, the estimated economic impact of dementia in 2024 was £42.5 billion, a figure that is expected to more than double by 2040.
And we're back to the disco with another hour of the finest tunes, kicking off this month with the good stuff from Marco Valery, J.Small, DJ Spen, and Emmaculate who have taken one of my favourite O'Jays tracks "Message in our music" and added a soulful vocal to create a whole new-nu-disco classic. (I hope they don't mind but I may have added a bit of O'Jays' magic back as my humble homage to legends Gamble and Huff.) There's fresh releases from Dr Packer and Yogi, and Dr Packer again with Abyss Deep Sound Lab, DP Thompson, and Lowkeytheory, who further funk up War's already funktastic 1977 hit Galaxy. Plus Seamus Haji and Kathy Brown, Moodena, HP Vince, and Block & Crown. And original disco classics from George Benson, Chaka Khan and Luther Vandross. All mixed with love in London. You can pick and choose your favourites by checking out the Spotify playlist, but don't forget in this mix there are a number of exclusive edits and versions which you won't find elsewhere.Meanwhile, I'm still working on my debut protest pop album, 'The Gift', with every penny going to Alzheimer's Research UK. The first track - 'Maybe I'm gay' - is out now everywhere, and here's a link to the track on Spotify Every stream, every download gets us closer to finding a cure for dementia. THANK YOU!The album is called 'The Gift' and you can hear some of the tracks along with Making Of content right here in other special episodes of this podcast.See you soon!
September's Locked On Disco will be here shortly. You may have seen that for the past few months I've been putting the finishing touches to my debut album The Gift which is coming out in October. And the first track Maybe I'm gay is now available everywhere.Maybe I'm gay is on Apple Music. And you can stream on Spotify. The Gift journeys through protest, grief, joy, and self-acceptance. From the bold defiance of Maybe I’m Gay, to the intimate title track The Gift, the playful EDM-lite Not Just Friends, and the revelatory Hello God :-), the album explores what it means to live openly, vulnerably, and authentically. It's not a disco album. But there's plenty of tunes to move to. And I hope to be moved by.Created in collaboration with AI tools, The Gift is both an act of self-discovery and a creative experiment — a reminder that music can be a mirror, reflecting who we are and what we hope to become. In this latest short podcast interlude I share my journey to creating Maybe I'm gay including all previously unreleased versions and demos. Hopefully it will be an interesting insight into the inner workings of the latest AI music technology.More importantly, all proceeds from the album will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK. Dementia is the UK’s leading cause of death, with 982,000 people currently affected — a number expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040. Globally, the World Health Organisation estimates 57 million people live with dementia, with nearly 10 million new cases every year.Every play, every download, every share of 'Maybe I'm gay' brings us closer to a cure for dementia. Please join in.Thank you. XX F
A deeply personal album of protest, love and self-acceptance — created with AI, powered by vulnerability, and released in support of dementia research.London, UK – August 2025 — After decades behind the decks, DJ-turned-artist F Monday steps into the spotlight with his debut album The Gift, out 10th October 2025. Blending protest pop, soul, and singer-songwriter sensibilities with hints of Latin and bossa nova, the record is both deeply personal and boldly experimental. The lead single, Maybe I’m Gay, is released on 29th August 2025 across all streaming and download platforms.“It captures my experience as a cis gay man — feeling different, othered, and at times excluded, even within the LGBTQIA+ community. Over time, I found self-acceptance by recognising that many of those feelings are universal — and that being queer is universal too,” says F Monday. The Gift journeys through protest, grief, joy, and self-acceptance. From the bold defiance of Maybe I’m Gay, to the intimate title track The Gift, the playful EDM-lite Not Just Friends, and the revelatory Hello God :-), the album explores what it means to live openly, vulnerably, and authentically.Created in collaboration with AI tools, The Gift is both an act of self-discovery and a creative experiment — a reminder that music can be a mirror, reflecting who we are and what we hope to become.Importantly, all proceeds from the album will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK. Dementia is the UK’s leading cause of death, with 982,000 people currently affected — a number expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040. Globally, the World Health Organisation estimates 57 million people live with dementia, with nearly 10 million new cases every year.Maybe I'm gay is now available to download on Apple Music. You can stream now on Spotify. And on every other streaming and download service. THANK YOU.You can also enjoy the Spotify playlist, but please note that some of the tracks or versions may not be available on that platform.I've been a DJ in various forms including radio since I was a teenager, and I always used to say it was the best job in the world, getting to listen to all kinds of music. I think I've also been a frustrated musical artist of some kind: I wanted to engineer and produce and have trained on various DAWs. My musicianship has been limited though - I can't really sing and I'm a rudimentary keyboard player - but I can write and originally trained as a journalist after leaving school. So I've been putting whatever writing skills I may possess to the test by writing lyrics and using them as prompts for AI music with some fascinating results. In fact I've spent the past month or so working on songs. At the time of writing I have an album of material completed, with the first track - a single - scheduled for release on 29th August on all the major platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. It will be automatically added to your Spotify new releases if you click here. Another single is scheduled to come out about a month later with the album pencilled for release on Friday 10th October. One of the surprises for me was the style of music I've ended up creating - not my usual dance music at all. The album does contain tracks that will get you moving or set your toes tapping, but there's an equal number of singer/songwriter tracks that I hope are more contemplative. The whole song writing process was incredibly cathartic, in fact I'd go so far as to say, it was like therapy. It's a scary thing sharing in song all your previously private thoughts and experiences, so please don't be too harsh on me. And as importantly, why not have a go yourself. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you. XX F*

June is definitely busting out all over here in London, with long and warm sunny days taking us and our music to parks, bars, restaurants and festivals. And I've carried that mood with me in what feels like a classic disco warm-up set for a big night out of tasty tunes. Starting with some mid-tempo soulful disco from Gwen Dickey and Michael Gray ("If I'm gonna be with you"), Paul Older's deliciously camp Italiano "Che disco vuoi" (What record do you want?). Don't miss Walterino's brand new funky and addictive "Kiss & fly", and the nudisco buzz of Zerb and Kiki Gyan's "24h in a disco". Finally I pass on the metaphorical DJ baton with the driving peak-time dancefloor disco hottie "Deep in my soul" by Alexa Perl. All of course, mixed with love here in London. See you soon. Happy New Year and thanks for downloading my favourite selections from The Disco Podcast's 2024 sets. And there was something powerful about February's mix, because that was by far your most popular download of the year. Quite a few tracks from that set have made it onto this Best Of, including Anane, Dave Leatherman, Paolo Bardelli, Saturday Love, Hold Tight and Ken@Work. 2024 definitely had more of a soulful disco vibe and that's reflected by edits and remakes of the inimitable Lou Rawls and Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, plus my personal favourite track of the year from Tamiko Jones - "Let it flow". And as my parting 2024 gift to you, I've snuck in a brand new exclusive track: my bootleg of Jessie Ware's "Free yourself". Enjoy! Quincy Delight Jones Junior was born in Chicago in 1933. At High School in Seattle he became an accomplished trumpeter, and then focused on music with a scholarship to Boston's Berklee College of Music. After college he worked with a number of orchestras and bands until in the 1960s becoming Frank Sinatra's arranger and conductor, notably leading the recording of the 1966 live album "Sinatra at the Sands" with the Count Basie Orchestra. A background with big bands, orchestras, and jazz followed him through his career and into our disco era where Quincy's signature production features bold brass, lush strings, hypnotic percussion and complex vocal arrangements. He met Michael Jackson when they both worked on the film "The Wiz". Michael invited Quincy to produce his upcoming solo album, but the record label objected, saying Quincy was "too jazzy". Michael insisted, and the result, "Off The Wall" propelled them both to mega stardom. Here I've gathered my favourite Quincy produced, arranged and written tracks which have themselves already been lovingly reproduced by disco leaders Dr Packer, The Reflex, Loshmi, Pete Le Freq and more, plus, unusually for me, some original recordings, which itself is very telling. No-one can even try to improve Quincy's original "Billie Jean." And I couldn't find anyone who's touched "Ease on down the road" . . . yet.Thank you Quincy. You will be missed. Welcome to another hour of disco, mixed with love in London. And 40 years ago this month Wham! released "Everything she wants" which starts this set with with the authentically updated Dolls Combers Tribute Remix. As far as we know George Michael did everything himself on the original, playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals, so technically it's not a Wham! track at all. Other tracks featured in this mix are Larry Funk's "Together", Nicole's "Rock the house", A-Trak's "Like I said" (which I might have changed a bit ;-), Stephane Deschezeaux, and DJ B1's "Lovin' you" along with some delicious edits of chunky disco treats. Enjoy! XX F*Here's the full track list:1 | Wham! | Everything she wants (Dolls Combers Tribute Remix)2 | Bee Gees | Night fever (S. Nolla & Dr. Parellada Unreleased Mix)3 | Queen and Gino Soccio | Try it out (David Kust Bites The Dust Remix)4 | Change | Change of heart (Fingerman's Extended Edit)5 | The Whispers | And the beat goes on (Marcus Bootleg)6 | Franki Valli | Grease (S R Edits Rework)7 | Larry Funk | Together (Original Mix)8 | Nicole | Rock the house (Michael Gray Vocal Extended Remix)9 | A-Trak | Like I said (F*Monday Bootleg)10 | Ron Carroll | Soul train (R C's Re-Edit)11 | Stephane Deschezeaux, DJ B1 | Lovin' you (Original Mix)12 | Aretha Franklin | Get it right (Ced ReWork)And here's a link to the Spotify playlist. Some of the edits and remixes I've used may not be widely available. For a while I've been thinking about creating a history of disco mix, picking out some of the great tracks that symbolise the disco era. Meanwhile I recommend listening to Steve Greenberg's podcast "Speed of sound". Four of his podcast's episodes take you on a fascinating musical journey from Nazi occupied Paris to disco dominating American Top 40 radio. Meanwhile I recommend listening to Steve Greenberg's podcast "Speed of sound". Four of his podcast's episodes take you on a fascinating musical journey from Nazi occupied Paris to disco dominating American Top 40 radio. Definitely worth downloading. Hey, here's another chunk of disco fun for your ear boxes. And I was enjoying the UK holiday weekend when I mixed this up. One great sing-and-dance-along choon after another, to guarantee a top time for all. I admit: it's an eclectic veering-towards-the-pop mix, possibly influenced by the delicious cosmopolitans I was drinking at the time. So grab your party packs and let's start with an Aloe Blacc and Patrice Rushen mashup, then a bulging fun bag of rare and unheard versions of Electric Light Orchestra, Duran Duran, and Hot Chocolate. An exclusive George Benson edit, some special Supertramp, Tears For Fears, Erasure, Michael Jackson and many more. All mixed with love in London.
