143 times in the N.T. the word "crowd/s" is used in relation to Jesus, his travelings and teachings. But there is a distinct difference in being there and being His; for we are in fact to be "People of the Christ, not the Crowd". A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people. People who know the Lord, and have a firm, reliant, exclusive and intimate trust in Him. People who know not only his name, but his voice...and another ones voice they will not follow.
Very few things in the life of the believer is more difficult than waiting on God. Waiting on him singularly, patiently, confidently and in a state of rest. I believe this message will be one of not only encouragement, but one of insight into the difficulty and glory of waiting on the Lord.
Many Christ followers mistake knowing the Lord as the same thing as "following the Lord". One deals primarily with revelation, the other is primarily surrender and obedience. This message will show us not only the command to follow God's word and will, but to fully trust in his leading of our individual and family life. I believe this message has the potential to expand our view of God's capability, and willingness to guide us in all things both great and small and his faithfulness all along the way.
Much of this familiar story and the characters in it exercise genuine, personal, vulnerable and unwavering trust in God to be who his word says he is and the power to work sovereignly and perfectly in the lives of those who are surrendered to His will. It is my prayer that this message will encourage those who have been living fearful or having taken back the reigns of their life to once again give God the helm for the direction and pace of their life; and to remind those who are walking faithfully and consistently there to continue in the faith, because God is actively working His Will and good pleasure with divine power for those who trust Him
An often quoted, but not completely understood verse is (Rom 12:2) "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, THAT YOU MAY PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." They emphasize the necessity for a renewed mind, but not the why. And that is so that we might recognize, submit to, prioritize and maintain a life that lives as much as possible, in the perfect will of God. Nowhere in the word of God does it tell you to search for his will in your individual life, it will find you. He will reveal it in a variety of ways, looking to see if you will take the time to stop and prioritize your burning bush, take off your shoes in reverence and submit to his revealed will. I have never met a person who regretted investing their lives in the will of God than spending it upon themselves.
