In this fall episode of the podcast, we talk about new products from Garmin before the Black Friday sales. We talk about satellite communications with the inReach messenger and ZOLEO. We talk about the 2022 camping season and we talk about preparedness plans during the busy fall hurricane season along the Atlantic coast.

In this episode we catch up on all the new Garmin news & models for the handheld & smartwatch market. GEOS gets bought by Garmin. Garmin updates some of the offerings within the RV and power sport market and Gaia GPS got bought by the publishers of Backpacker magazine. I also answer a few questions that have been posted on the Avoiding chores YouTube channel.

In this episode I’ll answer some Q&A’s left on the hundred of Garmin GPS tutorials I’ve posted on YouTube over the past month. The list of Garmin products mentioned are: Garmin instinct, gpsmap 66st, montana 680t, Vivoactive 3 and a few others. I also explain how to collect GPS field data with a wearable and why I will never use a smartphone as my primary GPS device while on the trail.

1984 was a big year, we were 12 and 17 where music took over our lives. So much pop culture came out in terms of movies, books, tv and the LA olympics. But on the flip side you had one of the worst man made disasters in India with over 20 thousand people dying. AIDS just started filtering down to high school and barely understood what was happening.
