This 1985 gem was originally conceived as a short film, but the creators just had too much to say so it became the full-length extravaganza of half-finished plots, stop-motion asides, and surprisingly palatable rock music that we’re discussing today. It was a box-office flop that got a second-wind on cable TV because the music is just that good! 1984's "Eddie and the Cruisers" is one of those movies so revered for its fictional music that it's honestly a little crazy that we're just now getting to it. And this is a double-feature, because we're covering "Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives!" as well! You might know this one best as the 2018 film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (who also directed), but "A Star is Born" has been born again and again since its first incarnation in 1937. Janet Gaynor originated the role of Esther Blodgett and, in 1954, Judy Garland made it the singing role we've come to know.
