Kobe Bryant is gone.
I’m screaming right now, cursing into the sky, crying into my keyboard, and I don’t care who knows it.
Kobe Bryant is gone, and those are the hardest words I’ve ever had to write for this newspaper, and I still don’t believe them as I’m writing them. I’m still crying, and go ahead, let it out. Don’t be embarrassed, cry with me, weep and wail and shout into the streets, fill a suddenly empty Los Angeles with your pain.
No. No. No, damn it, no!
Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among nine people who died in a helicopter crash Sunday in Calabasas and how does that happen? Kobe is stronger than any helicopter. He didn’t even need a helicopter. For 20 years he flew into greatness while carrying a breathless city with him.
This can’t be true.
Kobe does not die. Not now. Kobe lives into his golden years, lives long enough to see his statues erected outside Staples Center and his jerseys inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He lives long enough to sit courtside at Staples when he’s stooped and gray, keeping alive the memories of two decades of greatness with a wink, maybe even fooling everyone one last time by retiring in a community next to Shaq
Despite authorities’ claims that no foul play was involved, Blair’s relatives believe he was murdered and say their loved one had no reason to take his own life. Blair’s older brother wrote on the GoFundMe page raising funds for the young man’s funeral that Taemon was on the track of “becoming a great man” and doubled down on his belief that his brother’s death wasn’t a suicide.
Naacp Charlotte president Corine Mack and John C Barnett from Thug Ministries are traveling with the family this weekend to seek ask questions and seek justice.

On Thursday a black woman named Kendal Clark was on her way to school driving on N. Tryon St. near 28th in the city of Charlotte North Carolina where she was caught in the crossfire between two groups of men shooting at one another and she was hit in the head by a stray bullet that was not meant for her.In this episode we got a chance to talk to some of her closest friends about what kind of person she was. It is a shame of what happened to an innocent woman who was going about her business and working hard to be successful. The community is hurt and we must do more to produce the type of love in our community that stops violence.

My dear 85 year old Aunt Carol Jean passed away last week in Elizabethtown NC a small town outside of Wilmington NC in the sandhills of bladen county. My mother was raised there, all 11 of her brothers and sisters. They were a farming family and most of them went they got a chance to move up north, they ran to the state of New Jersey and never looked back. My Aunt Carol left, but she cam back home and settled there until her recent passing. We use to have some good times in the summer when we were children. Tobacco fields, good cooking from Grandma and hanging with all my cousin's for a week.
In this episode my first cousins and I discuss us coming together outside of funerals and getting closer again. We had a great brief discussion before we had to get in our cars and proceed to the church, but I did capture a great moment between us.

The Barber God: The Creative Power Behind the Chair is a poetic, powerful, and profoundly spiritual tribute to the art of barbering. Far beyond a how-to or memoir, Damian Johnson's work re-imagines the barbershop as sacred space, the barber as divine artisan, and each haircut as an act of transformation. Told through the evocative voice of "The Barber Whisperer" a mythic narrator and spirit guide this book reads like scripture for those who find meaning and purpose behind the chair. The structure blends reflections ("Passages") and short, moving vignettes ("Experiences"), weaving spiritual metaphor with tangible, real-life moments in the barbershop. From "The Divine Chair" to "The Hairophant's Oath," each chapter offers not only insight but inspiration. Whether describing the tools of the trade as sacred relics or the clippers' buzz as a spiritual hymn, Johnson elevates everyday barbering into ceremony, and confidence-building into a divine mission. The book speaks to barbers, certainly but also to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of self-expression, purpose, and community-building. Its lyrical prose, cultural reverence, and raw emotional power make it both meditative and motivating. The stories are human and heartfelt; the language is rich and reverentWhat makes it special?Deeply poetic and original voiceSpiritual lens on a traditionally overlooked professionCelebration of culture, community, and confidenceElevates the barber from technician to transformational artistThis is not just a book, it's a manifesto, a love letter, and a gospel for those called to serve through craft.Order herehttps://www.amazon.com/Barber-God-Creative-Behind-Chair/dp/B0FJ521K7S

Bestselling author and Senior Pastor of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries shares how to strengthen your relationships—with family, partners, friends, and others—and find deeper satisfaction by learning to love better.
Humans are meant to love and be loved, but so often we fall short at loving well. We take others for granted. We make assumptions. We forget to show our affection. We grow lazy.
We so often fail in our relationships with our families, our partners, our friends, and fellow humans because we are lazy in our love for one another, says Keion Henderson, pastor of the mega-church Lighthouse Church in Houston. Lazy love prevents us from experiencing the deep, soulful fulfillment we long to know. It keeps us from being known and enjoyed by those around us. And it stops us from stepping out to give who we are without expecting anything in return.
In his new book Lazy Love, Henderson unpacks the four kinds of love mentioned in the Bible—eros, or attraction; phileo, or friendship; storge, or familial; and agape, or spiritual love—and shows readers how each shapes our relationships and our lives. He also encourages readers to uncover the unhealthy practices that often lead to damaged or broken relationships and helps reader break free of the patterns that keep us from loving well.
The good news is that each of us can learn to love better and to improve our relationships—with our partners, our children, our friends, our co-workers, and our neighbors. Lazy Love will help readers become better at loving others in all areas of their lives.
