What if we are looking at the ocean the wrong way?We talk about rising seas, warming waters, plastic, pollution, changing currents and the many pressures facing the marine environment. But perhaps there is another way to look at it.The ocean is responding to the world around it.The question is: what are we doing?In this episode of Ocean Matters, I reflect on the idea of looking into a mirror. Do we try to change the mirror, or do we recognise that the person standing in front of it is the one who needs to change?The ocean is an extraordinarily complex system, and there is still so much we don't understand about it. But perhaps that is precisely why our energy should focus on what we can control.Because the ocean may not be the problem.Perhaps we are.And perhaps understanding that changes where we should begin.
