In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Jason Myles, the writer, musician, and rockstar from the Band called Bitter Lake. Some of you may know Jason from a podcast called "This Is Revolution" ( @THISISREVOLUTIONpodcast ), a great show that I have recently been on to talk about Controlled Opposition. Jason recently released the short mini-book titled “I Was a Teenage Anarchist,” which talks about the politics of Punk Rock in the 1980s and its relation to the culture of the Western left.
In this conversation, we talk about how the 80s Punk Rock Radicalism compared to the 60s counterculture and how the contemporary left post-Bernie Sanders echoes many of the problems of the left of the 80s and 90s.
In the Backroom exclusive segment on Patreon, Jason and I talk about Dating Apps and Canadian politics and spill some tea about our experiences meeting online influencers and various famous people. Become a Patron at Patreon.com/OneDime if you haven’t already!

In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by 3 of my well-educated leftist Mexican friends, Ernesto, Andres, and Connor, who I got to hang out with during my trip to Mexico this year. I learned a lot from talking to them, and by bringing them on 1Dime Radio, I am sure my listeners will learn quite a lot as well. We talk about the state of Mexican politics and provide a historical overview of the context leading up to Mexico’s New Leftist President Claudia Sheinbaum and her predecessor AMLO (Andrés Manuel López Obrador), the former president and leader of the same Center-Left Party (Morena).
In the Backroom exclusive segment on Patreon, we talk about the recent elections in Venezuela and the Latin American Left more broadly, as well as how the Mexican government compares to the other left-of-center “pink tide” governments of Latin America, such as Maduro’s Venezuelan government, Lula’s Brazil, Gustavo Pedro in Columbia, and Gabriel Boric in Chile. In this spicy episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Simone & Malcolm Collins, known as the “pronatalist” power couple who went viral following media attacks on “The Pronatalist Movement” - a response to the global fertility crisis and how birth rates are rapidly declining everywhere, especially in Asia and Latin America.
Malcolm and Simone Collins host the podcast called “Based Camp” and are the founders of “The Pragmatist Institute.” Together, they have published multiple books, such as “The Pragmatist's Guide to Crafting Religion” (Being the only one I read).
Simone & Malcolm Collins consider themselves to be part of “The New Right” - a pro-tech progressive conservative movement that is anti-racist, pluralistic, tolerant of sexuality, yet pro-religion and quite socially conservative for today’s standards. So, full disclosure: even though Malcolm & Simone Collins are quite unconventional conservatives, they still see themselves as part of the Right and are trying to reform the Republican party. In this episode, after getting Simone & Malcolm Collins to clarify their political positions, I try to challenge views on Capitalism, Socialism, and contemporary American politics in general.
In The Backroom on Patreon, I challenge Malcolm Collins’s views on the modern Conservative movement and his belief that the Republican Party is the lesser evil. Become a Patron at Patreon.com/OneDime if you aren’t one already. You don’t want to miss this one!

In this episode, we discuss the notion of “Christian Atheism” popularized by Slavoj Zizek and pioneered by Hegel.
Cadel Last’s upcoming Philosophy Portal course focuses on Christian Atheism and starts October 20th, you can sign up here:https://philosophyportal.online/christian-atheism

In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Keegan Kjeldsen, host of The Nietzsche Podcast/Untimely Reflections, to talk about the powerful complementary insights between Nietzsche and Machiavelli, as well as other thinkers such as Karl Marx and Ibn Khaldun. We also discuss the ways in which Nietzsche's work is often misunderstood, appropriated, or diluted by people on the right and left.
In The Backroom segment on Patreon, Keegan and I critique Jordan Peterson’s understanding of Nietzsche and the ways in which popular “Petersonian” YouTube channels such as “Academy of Ideas” and “Thoughts on Thinking” distort Nietzche. It was an exhilarating episode; you don't want to miss it!

In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by Victor Bruzzone of the Pill Pod (Plastic Pills Podcast) to discuss forms of radical democracy such as Sortition - “the lot system” in which representatives are selected at random by lottery. It was used in Ancient Athens and for a time also in the Republics of Florence, Venice and Genoa.
Sortition is not the same thing as “direct democracy,” such as assembly (which was also used in Athenian Democracy). The Marxist Paul Cockshott also proposes the sortition system in his book, “Towards a New Socialism.”
In The Backroom, Victor proposes his own variant of sortition, which he has been working on, which I found quite fascinating and innovative. You don’t want to miss it.
