2 Baptists & That Amish Chick is a podcast bringing you candid conversations about organized religion... The good, the bad, and the ugly. How we each broke free from it while holding onto our faith in God.
The Butterchurn Girls are three friends living in the Texas panhandle, searching after God in the aftermath of deconstructing from their religious upbringings.
Berlin was raised in Michigan as a hardcore independent fundamental Baptist. In her early 20's she ran from that faith and searched out multiple avenues to find closeness to God including non-denominational churches, crystal healing, and Buddhist meditation before finding the deep connection with God, Jesus & Holy Spirit that she was seeking.
Bethany grew up in the New Order Amish culture for 21 years before leaving it entirely. Her hunger for truth and curiosity about the world began to unravel the contradictions, spiritual abuse, and manipulation that are such a big part of that culture. She developed a genuine real relationship with God and realized He is nothing like what she’d been taught He is.
Leslie was born and raised in the Texas panhandle. Growing up she attended a local Baptist church, a Catholic school, and a Methodist after-school program. In college, she ran from God and it led her to travel the world and realize just how different beliefs are across the globe. After returning to the Texas panhandle, she experienced non-denominational mega-churches, and a season of church hopping, before finally finding a real relationship with God, and finally meeting Holy Spirit.
We invite you to hear our stories of deconstruction, and most importantly reconstruction no matter where you're at in your journey. We hope our stories and the topics we cover give you permission to establish, deepen, and strengthen a relationship with God. The good, kind, loving heavenly father that he is, not the angry, punishing, manipulative god that many churches teach about today.
If you have topics you'd like to hear about, current events you want our take on, or would just like to give feedback feel free to leave a comment or you can always email us at thebutterchurngirls@gmail.com

Our guest Lawrence Prasad shares his story in this 3 part series he calls his "Journey of the Heart." In the final part of our conversation with Lawrence, we get into the many different ways a relationship with God looks. We talk about how you can experience God in places that much of the church would think God wouldn't be. And we even talk about how Jesus still has a relationship with people who may not even be able to acknowledge Him, like those with dementia.
Lawrence Prasad is passionate about seeing every heart transformed by the love of the Father.
This one encounter with Love redirected his life to embark on the journey of the Heart.
Lawrence resides in Melbourne Australia where he launched Heart Keys, a Prayer Ministry helping other Christians navigate the Inner healing space in union with the Trinity.

There has been such a divide within the church; between people who love God. We're telling their stories. Stories of our LGBTQ listeners who have been hurt by the church. One thing we want to honor is the one commandment we are given, to love one another, is what they get so right, and the church is getting so wrong.

We're bringing you a bonus episode all about the newest cult documentary Shiny Happy People! We discuss the documentary, bring our hot takes, and even discuss how familiar many of the IBLP teachings felt to our religious backgrounds! While the tagline of the documentary is "Duggar Family Secrets" it's very much "cult" secrets! While the Duggar family was the poster child for the IBLP movement, their hidden family secrets are highlighted throughout, but it is made very clear, those secrets just scratch the surface regarding what else goes on inside the IBLP, ATI, and Joshua Generation movement.

Are you a Christian just because you believe in God? Is that a label you subscribe to, or do you call yourself something different? We talk about where the "title" of Christian came from and what we call ourselves now that we've deconstructed and reconstructed.

If you've spent any time in religion you have probably heard "your heart is deceitful above all else". We have one question though... Is it though?! There's one scripture that says your heart is deceitful, but there are so many others that say beautiful, life-giving things about the heart...
