Jessica is both a RMT and LMT and was eager to come on the podcast to talk about her experiences in the Massage World. From having a random opportunity to start her massage education and career in Spain, to working as a therapist in Hawaii, treating elite athletes, becoming a RMT in BC, and competing in the American Massage Championships, Jessica has had experiences in her career that are most definitely unique. These experiences have made her a unique therapist and she’s very passionate about sharing with the Massage community. Listen to another story that will remind you that with this profession, there is no limit to the places you can go! 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com

Back in the winter, we learned that this year will be the first ever Black Massage Therapist Conference happening in October in North Carolina. Davonna is an educator and the founder of this conference. We had her and one of her colleagues, Ashley on an episode earlier this year. We invited Davonna back to talk about how it’s been going. We dug deeper into why a conference like this is needed, why race conversations still need to happen, and what exciting things will be happening at the first ever Black Massage Therapist Conference. Stephanie is the founder and CEO of the United States Organization of Licensed Massage Therapists and she also has a background in business coaching for Massage Therapists. This knowledge of business helped her to create a survey for her association to use to help business owners and therapists really figure out what they want and need from our industry and how to be innovative. We had Stephanie on when she first founded the association and she has come back to talk to us about what massage therapists really want and how she’s working closely with them to further propel this profession in the right direction. We talked about wages, work environment, differences in opinions, and of course, thinking outside the box. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Sabina has been a client and friend for almost 2 years and she came by to talk about how we met, her experience with rehabilitation and therapy, navigating the healthcare system with an injury, and how the last few years have had an impact on her health and her life. We dove into topics of spirituality, travel and wanderlust, what home means to us, and much more. Listen to some real talk from one of our many wonderful clients that make our work feel like it’s not work at all. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Magnus and Bobbi are both LMTs and Structural Integrators in Mississippi. These two have a passion for body work and teaching and once they met, fell in love, and joined forces, they have been on the path to becoming unstoppable. Bobbi has been interested in body work since she was a small child and Magnus, a former tennis player from Sweden, had his tennis career cut short from a back injury. This led him to structural integration. The couple met professionally and had an instant connection and according to Magnus, when they teach together it’s magic! They have developed a method of teaching to Massage Therapists and combining other techniques with structural integration that allows therapists to get the most out of each treatment and provide the best care to their patients. As you heard in the previous episode, we are on vacation!!! Out of office, out of studio, but we prepared this episode for you. A couple of years ago we were invited to take part in an online business summit. The topic for us was discounting, but instead of giving some straight of tips about discounting, we flipped it around an spilled out 10 ideas that might work a bit better than knocking off some of the $$$ you charge for your massage therapy services/treatments. Here are various clips from our session. Enjoy... 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Melinda is a LMT in Tennessee who has practiced in various states as a Massage Therapist, Health Coach, and ultimately a business coach for Massage Therapists. She went from professional dancer to bodyworker and followed her opportunities to get to where she is today. In 2020, Melinda took a pause from treating and coaching and came to realize the importance of multiple revenue streams and made a comeback recently as a coach focusing on massage therapists getting creative and expanding their income potential. Check out Melinda at https://www.melindaloo.com. She’s back and better than ever! 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Betty had a successful career in Real Estate, 4 grown children, and a wonderful life. As a former athlete, she had dealt with a lot of pain in her life and was a regular Massage Therapy patient. Once she found the right therapist for her, she became very interested in what he was doing and why while he was treating her. She would ask a lot of questions and eventually had the opportunity to work on him. That was the beginning. Betty decided to go to school for Massage Therapy later in life which is something she recommends for everyone. She loved learning, practiced for a bit, and ultimately went back to Real Estate. She regrets nothing. She still has a dream of one day opening a clinic where she can practice laser therapy as well which has been a modality that has really worked for her pain and for her former clients. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Mia is a clinic owner in Nova Scotia that we met at the Canadian Massage Conference in Halifax with her team of therapists. She came on to talk about her experience as a spa owner, moving around to different provinces, and ultimately owning her successful clinic now. We talked about company culture, how to build a team, firing therapists, education, and about what Mia is doing in her practice now. She has gone on to get more training in Matrix Repatterning and RAPID Neurofascial Reset which allows her to focus her practice on specific patients while referring to her team. She’s doing great things on the east coast…have a listen! 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Sheena is a Massage Therapist in Ontario but she didn’t set out to become one. We invited Sheena to come and talk about her journey into Massage Therapy and how she got to where she is now. As a regular listener, we also gave her an opportunity to give her opinion on the association, Massage education, public perception of the profession, and all of the usual 2 RMTs and a Mic topics. Listen to Sheena’s opinions and a little about her life as a massage therapist. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Caleb is a practicing massage therapist in Manitoba and we officially met him at the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba’s spring conference. He joined us to talk about his journey into bodywork and why this career was attractive to him, how he decided to shift his mindset about therapy, and how his seminars came to life. Caleb’s approach to treatment lies in his assessment. He built his practice from being so slow that he almost left the profession after 3 years to so busy that he’s booked out for the next 6 months. We talked about public perception, scope of practice, continuing education, and some situations Caleb has found himself in working in sports. Check him out at https://www.powerofassessment.com 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Sam is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner with a Masters Degree in Health Education. He came to hang out in our couch and tell us how he went from working as a kinesiologist to going back to school for osteopathy, to getting his Masters Degree, to becoming an educator, to opening a school! The Osteopathic Lyceum approaches the teaching of osteopathy in a different way and is specifically targeted to already practicing healthcare practitioners…Massage Therapists, that means you! Graduates of the program will be able to join a National Association, the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA) and have the freedom to work across the provinces. Sam has a lot of “useless” knowledge and loves to share. Listen to an interesting conversation covering many many topics in manual therapy and don’t forget to check out https://www.osteopathiclyceum.com 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
We met Miranda and Danielle at the Canadian Massage Conference in Halifax and they are both RMTs from Ontario and are listeners of our podcast. We invited them to come on together and talk about school, massage, education, conferences, and everything in between. As a surprise to all of us, we had them come by on our 5th anniversary of our podcast and so we also had some fun talking about student clinic, memorable clients, what matters when it comes to teaching, what their career plans look like as newer therapists, and of course what they would do if they won the lottery! Listen to a fun shop talk with some new therapists who are just getting started in their practices and are definitely going places! 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Sophie had a successful mobile business in Ottawa, Ontario when she made the decision with her partner to move to Vancouver, British Columbia temporarily. She hung out with us to talk about the move between regulated provinces, some of the differences she has found between working in Ontario and B.C., and most importantly, where she will call home. After making the move, Sophie and her partner realized that the overall lifestyle in Vancouver really aligns with their own lifestyle and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to decide where they want to live permanently. Listen to us discuss some interesting differences that Sophie has observed and some theories about why that might be. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Jessica has had many experiences as a therapist ranging from spa work, rehab work, working with athletes, training etc. She has always been an outside of the box thinker and is always planning for a future that allows for multiple revenue sources and opportunities to do the work she loves. She had a desire to continue to with with athletes, as a former athlete herself, and also recognized a need for more regulated healthcare professionals, specifically RMTs, to offer post-operative massage treatments. This was far outside of her comfort zone as she had her own feelings regarding cosmetic procedures but also felt that this was needed. She took many courses and now has a thriving practice mainly filled with athletes and post-op patients. As a true entrepreneur, she also operates a med-spa, a product line, and soon to be training other therapists in post-op treatment. Check out Body by Mars on all social platforms to see what Jessica is up to! 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Dr. Kerry D’Ambrogio has graduated from programs in Physical Therapy, Osteopathy, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and has taken over 300 continuing Education courses. We had him come in from Sarasota, Florida to assist him in making videos to get his courses online and he stayed to hang out on our couch to tell us about his experiences that have led him to being an International educator. As a young football player, Kerry was always getting injured and he found a mentor that gave him his “a-ha” moment about finding the cause of his dysfunction versus getting local treatment at the site of his injury. This led him to continue learning and eventually develop his own curriculum that explores total body screening, muscles, joints, lymph, and energy. You can check out Kerry’s course offerings at https://www.dambrogioinstitute.com/about/kerry-dambrogio.php 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Leigh is a Registered Massage Therapist, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher trainer, business owner, death doula, and Retreat organizer among many other things. Listen to Leigh’s journey and find out how you can connect with this incredible human. Cheryl is an experienced Massage Therapist now living in a more remote community where she is building a home. She has decided to venture into a new project where she plans to produce a magazine for Massage Therapists by Massage Therapists. She wants to be sure the content is useful, informative, in scope, and will help to further progress the profession. We have been trying to get Miranda to come sit on our couch for some time now. She’s been a listener for a while, engages with us behind the scenes and gives her two cents about our episodes, has attended the Canadian Massage Conference with us, taken ConEd classes, and hangs with us at our free networking events. It took so long because despite Miranda having many opinions, she’s quite introverted and deals with social anxiety. She finally agreed to come by and talk shop with us. Listen to Miranda’s story, a little about her struggles with social anxiety, her journey through school and self- employment, and some real stories of dealing with clients who cross boundaries. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com

I started listening to this as background noise but it's caught my attention enough that I'm adding to my watch list for replay later. You guys touched on so many things that resonated with me about either myself or a couple friends. I'll be sending them a link after I replay. Thanks for touching on this subject. There is a lot we can do for clients that have had these experiences to make them feel accepted and comfortable with touch therapy.
