This episode is bare bones (no musical accompaniment), but for good reason. It’s been a few weeks since we created a podcast because one old lady misjudged her walking and took a bad fall, breaking her wrist and injuring other assorted parts of her body. But she’s on the mend, so we squeezed out a new episode for you loyal listeners! Sit back and hear about our experience at the Arcadia Folk Festival in Easthampton, Massachusetts in August 2024.
It's Season 2 of 2 Old Ladies Walking! Our podcasting platform has made some revisions, so we have had to also. What do double twists, midair splits, and aerials have in common? They're all things we can't do, and that's why we're not on the US Gymnastics Team in the Paris Olympics. But Simone Biles is! Join us as we cheer for Simone, Suni, Jade, Jordan, and Hezly - the US women's gymnastics team - as they compete in the 2024 Olympic Games. Be sure to listen for Liz's live guitar playing at the beginning and end of the episode!

We’re just weeks away from the Academy Awards and it’s too cold to walk, so this episode was recorded from our couch as we talked about this year’s Oscar nominees. What a great season - let’s go to the movies!

A change of pace in honor of small business shopping weekend: this week’s walk takes us through the aisles of Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in Brookfield, Connecticut on a crisp post-Thanksgiving day. Will we find trolls? Vintage milk bottles? Handkerchiefs? Join us to find out what we see! (Please excuse the occasional microphone echo and static, as we are still learning how to use our sound recording devices!)
The Walkway Over the Hudson, which opened in 2009, is a former railroad bridge that was transformed into a highly used walkway for walkers and cyclists. On this crisp day in November 2023, it was extremely windy, and we apologize in advance for the disruption it causes in the middle of the podcast, despite our new wind – shielding microphones!
Walk with us on the Auburn Trail in Rochester and learn what Spag 40 was all about! (Note: we thought this was the Genesee Valley Trail when we were walking on it, but we were later corrected!) You can access this trail from Elmwood Avenue, between Monroe Avenue and I-590.
A stroll along the Ashokan Rail Trail in West Hurley, New York. Note that this was our maiden podcast. It was a completely spontaneous idea, so there was no formal editing. You will therefore hear the crunch of the trail, the sound of the leaves, and the interference of the wind. We hope to adjust for these kinds of issues in our next episode!
