Seaspiracy hit Netflix on March 24th, and I don't think even the vegan community were prepared for the huge impact it was about to have. Trending across the globe and hitting #1 on Netflix in the UK, the power of Seaspiracy cannot be overstated. An outpouring of news articles, statements in response, and a 'debunking' of the facts presented soon followed. Today I'm discussing Seaspiracy, the impact that it's had and some of the criticisms it's received. In today's episode: - Responding to: ...
In today's episode I look back upon the moments in my life that acted as building blocks towards me making the switch from passionate KFC lover to vegan. I used to love eating fried chicken, I was always up for a trip to the zoo, and as a child I laughed at vegetarians. So, what happened? And how can reflecting back on what helped us make the switch to vegan help us become better advocates? ✺ To support the show & get access to exclusive monthly podcast episodes: http://ww...
In today's episode we go through some of the most interesting articles from the Veganuary period, and what the potential backlash means for veganism. In today's episode: - Is veganism causing severe mental health issues in the animal farming industry? - How can farmers diversify? - Is veganism anti-agriculture and an attack on British farming? - What about reducing your carbon footprint through eating local meat? - Debunking the claim that ‘Veganuary is just a gimmick'. - Debunking ‘The Eth...
Christmas can be a very challenging time of year for vegans. During a time of celebration, seeing our loved ones perpetuate so much death and suffering can be extremely overwhelming. Dead bodies on the dining table and confrontations surrounding our choice not to hurt animals, there can be a lot of pressure, a lot of judgement and ultimately a lot of reasons to worry about Christmas as a vegan. I hope today's episode can help you! In today's episode: - How can we actually enjoy this time o...
During the past couple of weeks there has been a media frenzy surrounding an EPIC-Oxford study that concluded that vegans have a higher risk of bone fractures. Headlines such as, "Meat-free diets linked with greater risk of breaking bones" and, "‘It is a worry’: The truth about veganism and bone health" littered news websites and flooded onto social media. Even Joe Rogan shared the study, as even though he has often criticised epidemiology that supports veganism, he clearly considers this to ...
In this episode I am joined by Jonathan Balcombe, an expert in animal behaviour. We discuss his work exploring how intellectually and emotionally complex fish actually are, and dispel many of the hugely prevalent myths surrounding fish, and fish sentience. We also discuss some of their most interesting behaviours, whether or not it is ethical to eat mussels and oysters, and whether or not we should have home aquariums. Listen to find out: - Are fish self aware? - Are fish intelligent? - Wh...
Welcome to Season 3 of The Disclosure Podcast! In today's episode I take a look at how the dairy industry lied to the world, and almost got away with it. From 'government cheese' to government collusion, I break down how the industry worked with the US government to up the populations' intake of dairy products - ultimately leading to more breast and prostate cancer, more environmental destruction, and of course, more animal suffering. How is it possible that one industry managed to get away w...
In today's episode of The Disclosure Podcast, I discuss the recent announcement that Eleven Madison Park is going to be reintroducing meat. So, what are the reasons why, what does this mean for veganism and does an interview with the New York Times reveal that this was destined to happen all along? Switzerland has just introduced new animal welfare labelling laws that will force companies to write on packaging if certain farming practices have been inflicted on animals. However, while this has been met with huge amounts of praise online, including from vegans, is there more to this story that we might be missing? In today's episode, I discuss my thoughts around the new labelling laws, highlighting what is positive about them, while also explaining why I think we should be more cautious ...
Is the fear around plant-based alternatives really based on science, and what does it teach us about the nature of misinformation? In today's episode, I chat with Marlana Malerich about plant-based alternatives, carnivore diets, seed oils, RFK Jr., meat lobby groups and more. Marlana Malerich is a PhD candidate at University of Sussex Business School where she is focussed on the plant-based industry in the U.K. and Europe. Prior to the PhD, she has worked over ten years at the intersection of...
What role should celebrity culture have when it comes to veganism? From influencers becoming ‘ex-vegans’ for engagement, to celebrities backtracking on their vegan claims, the conversation around veganism is often diminished when it becomes absorbed within the fickle nature of fame and online content cycles. In today’s episode, I explore the positives and negatives with using celebrity endorsements to add legitimacy to veganism. For more exclusive content and personal writing from...

Today's episode is something a little different. I'm hugely honoured to share with you a pre-pandemic conversation between myself and Preacher Lawson. A passionate vegan, Preacher Lawson has the wonderful gift of not only being able to bring laughter to so many people, but the vegan message as well. We look back on our experiences as steak-loving non-vegans, and discuss comedy, street interviews and vegan cheese. ✺ To support the show & get access to exclusive monthly podcast episodes: ...
I was once disappointed that I wasn't able to see an orca performing at an aquarium I was visiting, I once bet on horses with friends, and I once ate animal products every single day. But once I went vegan, everything changed. Your perspective on the world radically shifts, as if a blindfold has been removed. Suddenly everything looks different, and suddenly, there seems to be suffering everywhere you look. Perhaps the most difficult, and most challenging part of this is the sudden realisatio...
"Look, I hunt my own animals. I'm connected to nature, and I'm helping the environment. Haven't you heard about overpopulation and the importance of hunting for conservation?" In this episode I expand fully on my recent YouTube upload, where I debunked Joe Rogan's arguments for hunting. In today's episode I expand on the morality of hunting, the environmental arguments that hunters use, as well as offering advice on what to say if you're faced with a discussion with a hunter who presents you...
On June 19th 2020, Regan Russell was killed. ⁣⁣An activist since the 1970s, she was at Fearman’s Pork slaughterhouse with Toronto Pig Save for a regular vigil. During these vigils the activists have an agreement with the slaughterhouse where the trucks stop outside for 2 minutes, so the activists can approach and give the pigs water and show them some comfort. However, on that day, one of the truck drivers ran Regan over and killed her. ⁣⁣ In today's episode, I discuss how the new Bill 156,...

This week I discuss the $19 billion bail out that the Trump administration has given to US farmers, and the wider issue of subsidising animal agriculture in general. I also discuss the UK government’s new plan for subsiding agriculture in the wake of leaving the EU, and how their new system could actually pave the way for a complete reform that would incentivise the shift to a plant-based food system. ✺ To support the show & get access to exclusive monthly podcast episodes: http://www.pa...
In this episode I delve into the current slaughterhouse situation in the US, talking not only about the outbreaks of COVID-19 in US facilities and the effect that is having on slaughterhouse workers, but also how slaughterhouses foster an environment where workers suffer from mental health problems such as PTSD, drug and alcohol dependency, social isolation and emotional repression. I reflect on some of my personal experiences with slaughterhouses and slaughterhouse workers, and I also discus...
Today I speak with Mic the Vegan, a highly influential vegan educator and YouTuber, about what’s happening right now in slaughterhouses in relation to COVID-19, as well as the possibility of the coronavirus also being able to be spread through animals such as pigs. We also discuss whether or not a whole foods plant-based diet can help us in the fight against the pandemic, and how our diets could be making us more vulnerable to the coronavirus. ✺ To support the show & get access to...

I am so enjoying these Podcasts even though sometimes it is hard. Ed is an "all round" vegan and is able to give all his information and debate with such empathy and sincerity. I totally recommend listening to all of these episodes. I particularly enjoyed the interviews. looking forward to more Ed, thank you.

Hello, greetings from Poland! I very much enjoy your podcasts. I've listened to every one of them since they started coming out. I feel like I always learn something from them. I found your conversations with other guests particularly valuable as you seem to know how to ask the right questions and how to show respect and understanding to people with opposing views. You're compassionate towards people as well as towards animals. I feel like antagonizing people, as many vegans do, is never going to make them change their mind - it's only going to leave a bad taste every next time they think about veganism. Thanks to your podcasts I first heard about Rich Hardy and his work. You inspired me to help fund his book. Luckily it came out not long ago and it turned out to be such a valuable lecture. I hope you continue recording. You provide an excellent insight into the realm of animal exploitation and also how ingrained it is into our history and culture. I also appreciate your approach to sp

Most episodes are interesting to hear. I especially enjoyed the one where Ed debates with the farmer. This one however feels less intelligent in that Ed is less thoughtful and is more or less throwing arguments and building on ideas/premises that might not be true. He assumes quite a lot about people's motives for eating meat without much nuance, which I find problematic considering how polarized the debate already is, and how tempting it is to reject ideas when they are presented in such a way. I guess I'd like something more humble, yet of course still emphasizing the absurdity of meat eating in terms of morals. I would also appreciate if Ed were more open about which statements are his own ideas and which are based on facts/scientific studies. The idea about how our concept of masculinity can be traced back to early humankind development is questionable and I think Ed should have told the listener that those were his own speculative views. Most biologists agree that humankind has no

Just catching up on your podcast and so far I have found it really enlightening. Thanks so much to Rich for all those years of work for the cause, he is amazing! I felt really positive at the end of this episode that we are in the "fight" phase. For the animals 🌱✌️

funny how the dairy farmer wasn't ok with gmo plants, but totally ok with gmo cows. I think you may have let him off the hook a lot of times in this interview. I'm sure he went away thinking 'I think I've enlightened that vegan. maybe he'll come back to eating meat or at least drink milk again. he now knows how much I love my cows"

ed. I'm so impressed by you. It's so hard not to get angry at ignorance. but, you're right, it is counter productive. We need to have people open their minds, not close them. I need the practice
