Well, again, we have seen last week that this chapter, and we're in Numbers, chapter 16, it begins with a group of people. Now most Bibles will call them a congregation, but if we pay attention to that word, a DA, it doesn't mean a congregation per se, but rather a group of witnesses. And why is that? Well, our theme for tonight's study is one of rebelliousness, and we're going to see that there's a group of individuals, and they are a very significant group. First of all, there were 250 of them, and they were men of reputation. Some Bibles will say men of renown. And what we see here is that they were not just simple individuals, but they represented the leaders of Israel, and they were being rebellious against the order that God Himself had set up. Well, as I said, we are going to look at just one commandment in our Scripture. And I think it's so significant that in this chapter, chapter 15 of the book of Numbers, we see that the term number in Hebrew, or wilderness, in the case of the actual Hebrew word, midbar is the word for wilderness in the book of Numbers. Well, we have seen that the children of Israel in this wilderness had not acted in faith. Now we can identify with that, because many times in our life, we don't identify and display faithfulness in our decisions, in our thoughts, in our words, and we all need to come before our Lord and Savior with a spirit of repentance, with a heavy heart, with a contrite heart, acknowledging that we have failed. But here's the good news when we approach God in this way, God who is love, who is merciful, who is gracious, who is forgiving, God will receive us unto Himself through that work of his only begotten son when he laid down his life in order that we might experience forgiveness and that eternal redemption.
