2’s and 22’s are special to me, for synchronous sacred feminine reasons.  This episode will be my last episode for a while, friends. I’m taking a podcast and social media sabbatical in order to finish two book projects! One of the book’s contents is explored in this episode…   We are living in a time of emotional honesty and the healing of lineages. I have felt the unresolved, misplaced feelings in my body that women in my 7 generation Mormon matrilineal line could not fully feel in theirs. In 2018, I finally took POLYGAMY off my psychological shelf, went on a sacred Mary Magdalene Pilgrimage to France, and found myself spinning into an awakening I never expected.    There can be a collision of two paths in your spiritual life, where exploration of feminine equality and problematic history comes face-to-face with the structures and beliefs of your faith. It can be a space of tension and tremendous discomfort, being confronted with the limitations and inconsistencies you’re discovering within your religious tradition. You hit a crashing point, or a crossroads, which can “force” you to question deeply held beliefs and reassess your relationship with your faith.    My guest Celeste M. Davis @celestemdavis had a sacred feminist awakening journey that paralleled my own, in the same year and with the same religion of origin (Latter-day Saint) although we didn’t know each other at the time. Celeste is a mother of 4 and a spiritual director specializing in LDS faith crises and faith transitions. She writes a weekly Substack on how to scratch that existential itch when the existential tools of our past no longer satisfy.    Together in this episode, we discuss the sensitive, courageous and vulnerable process of deconstructing, reevaluating, and reconstructing one's spiritual framework…which for many, may ultimately lead to a more liberated, sacred, inclusive, and authentic expression of their spirituality.    The co opting of Jesus’ teachings by institutional administration Struggles with embracing the divine feminine within the church How can we make churches emotionally safe sanctuaries? (voicing doubts, encouraging questions about existing doctrines/beliefs, encouraging people to trust their intuition) Lifting the veil of unworthiness by breaking the cycle of trying to prove yourself What is liberation theology? .. Are you in the middle of a very disorienting life situation that is literally halting you in your tracks?  Sometimes we’re called to embrace uncertainty to receive deeper lessons in self-discovery. Sometimes trauma leads us to the darkest depths, where we uncover deep truths to illuminate our beautiful wholeness.   It just SUCKS when we’re smack dab in the middle of it…!   My guest expert Danielle Matthews @_daniellematthews_ healed a life-altering injury to her brain, refusing to accept her bleak medical diagnosis. She went on to build an international business, author an ebook, and now shares her experience to inspire others. Danielle teaches a powerfully inspiring concept called POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH SYNDROME.   Impactful ways to be present in the dark What’s a “sacred contract” and how can it give context to traumatic situations? What to do about the fear of not being as “impactful” post-transformation How can we embrace the concept of duality and the lessons that darkness teaches us without succumbing to a victim mentality? What is the significance of Mary Magdalene and how can we connect with her essence for healing & empowerment? How can we as women reclaim our wisdom & power in the face of collective fears? Ya’ll who follow me KNOW how much I love Mary M! My guest today is a true leader in the sacred feminine movement. Her unique research on Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary provides deeper insights on goddesses, miraculous conception, and divine feminine lineages… and how we can draw upon the mysteries of Magdalene to co-create miracles & healing in our lives. Marguerite Rigoglioso, Ph.D. philosophy, religion & humanities @margueriterigoglioso is a leading spokesperson and researcher for the Goddess and Sacred Feminine Spirituality. She is the foremost authority on the history of virgin birth, and the author of 3 books on the topic, including the bold new award-winning book The Mystery Tradition of Miraculous Conception: Mary and the Lineage of Virgin Births. Marguerite taught many graduate and undergraduate courses in the US and UK, and in 2012 founded her own Seven Sisters Mystery School, through which she’s been teaching about the Sacred Feminine and mentoring clients on the evolutionary spiritual path. The “womb path” is one of deep transformation. The “womb mysteries” anchor in growth through embracing what is called “womb wisdom” - or inner knowing. In this embodied state, we access self-trust, discernment and personal power. Here, in essence, we mother ourselves and co-create with The Great Mother.   My guest Lauren Megan @iamlaurenmegan is a body-based trauma specialist, womb alchemist, embodiment mentor, priestess, healer, conscious mother, and teacher. She guides & mentors women on the path of womb-led business, energetics, and pleasure. Her mission is to help women heal, unravel and decondition from the beliefs and generational traumas that keep them from speaking their truth, owning their purpose and receiving the endless amounts of bliss they deserve.   In this episode I also share my sacred womb healing experience at Chalice Well in Glastonbury in 2021 after experiencing multiple traumas to my second chakra throughout my lifetime.   Birth as initiation into the path of the womb & The Great Mother  Embracing womb wisdom & power for biz growth, personal development, and healing relationships What are “womb codes” and how do they impact creation? What does it really mean to be heart-led and how do you live from that place?   I’m joined in this episode by my soul sister from India, Jonita D’souza. Together, we delve deep into the transformative power of self-devotion and the journey towards becoming a heart-led leader in this new era of rising feminine leadership. Jonita shares her experiences of embracing fear, exploring duality, and finding inner light through -paradoxically- the “Dark Mother” (another name for the Goddess/Mother who guides, supports and sustains us during our shadow work and Dark Night of the Soul seasons). We hear the word mindfulness a lot, but what is it, exactly, and what does it accomplish? Mindfulness is essential to tap into your soul energy and live in higher vibratory states. Regular mindfulness practices allow us to feel more grounded and centered…and alive.   Many of us know we have gifts, messages, innovations, ideas, and all kinds of goodness buried inside of us… but we don’t completely “dive in” because of other demands on our time, energy and resources. What can we realistically explore, for just a few minutes a day or a few hours a week that brings us closer to our soul purpose?    On this episode of Stand Speak Shine, we hear from JJ DiGeronimo, two-time award-winning author and former leading woman in the tech industry. She passionately strives to help women gain “more seats at more tables” by sharing the key findings that have helped her and countless others illuminate a path forward. Featured in publications such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and Thrive Global, JJ is a regularly-invited speaker for events and conferences. Her work includes three books, two podcasts, two global online communities, and in-person experiences.   A simple trick to lasso your energy from “head to soul” Nestling into the present moment by tapping into your “soul” energy vs. “ego” energy How to break free from Mental Swirls (changing your state in an instant) It all starts with valuing yourself enough to prioritize FEELING GOOD Follow the whisper: “Your purpose starts as a whisper.” Find JJ’s “10 Lessons I Gained from My Mindfulness Practice” at www.jjdigeronimo.com/MindfulnessforWomen
There’s no denying that the Feminine is rising. Her voice is finally coming out of exile after thousands of years, anchoring in a new reality. The vibration of words and sound literally heals & creates.  Despite an implicit message of shame and danger surrounding feminine spirituality from her conservative fundamentalist upbringing, my soul sister in the Middle East, Lisa Moriah Chenthitta @templeofdivineradiance found herself called to study texts and traditions outside her faith of origin that embraced the language of the goddess. Lisa is a writer, artist, drummer, Aramaic mystic, qadosha (Israelite priestess), creative catalyst, soul sounds coach and communication consultant based in Dubai, UAE. Her guiding truth is to live a life of service completely called forth by the power of her own voice, in partnership with divine truth. She is co-founder of The Story Alchemists, a boutique personal brand and communication agency for maverick souls, and founder of Temple of Divine Radiance, an online sacred space devoted to Hakhimtoh or Wisdom, the biblical Jewish manifestation of goddess.   Mary Magdalene’s role in the initial stages of Lisa’s awakening & exploration of feminine spirituality The history surrounding why using the word “goddess” has been implicitly and explicitly forbidden in conservative spaces The sacred power of sound, words & language to create reality & shape embodiment  How chanting, singing & drumming can open new dimensions, creating growth without striving How sound work helps us “walk the path of mystery and uncertainty with a sense of softness and trust”    Find Lisa’s work: www.templeofdivineradiance.com If you haven’t grabbed my FREE Mini-Training, “The New Feminine Leadership Paradigm” - get it now: www.cherieburton.com
Sacred Feminine spirituality is about liberation and individuation -alongside mature collaboration. Many of us are seeking to find our authentic voices after disassociating from belief structures that have disassociated us from our bodies.    In my case, there were times I felt pressured to ignore my intuition and comply with religious leaders for fear of divine retribution. My soul sister from Scotland, Dr. Morgana McCabe Allan, was given an ultimatum by her religious leaders to either walk away from her church or go into a room of men for an exorcism (she chose to walk away).  This never was The Way; imposing fear-based ultimatums in the name of God.    Feminist philosopher & author, Dr. Morgana McCabe Allan, specializes in the interaction between identity and perceived reality. She primarily works with frustrated service-centered female entrepreneurs, guiding them through becoming fully available to experience the success that matters to them and designing a new reality using manifesting, mindset and healing techniques.    The Death Mother archetype as it relates to creation, destruction & societal conditioning The patriarchal devaluation of feminine power & how to constructively reclaim it The importance of drawing personal boundaries with organized spiritual structures “Don’t be afraid to let go of everything that is not authentically YOU.”   Find her: https://www.morganamccabeallan.com/
What do our souls deem true “success?” And how do we handle the fears, limiting beliefs, and self-doubts that will inevitably come up when we commit to creating a “next level” soul-based life? My guest Diana Long @dianadrakelongcoaching is a transformational Master Certified Coach & Trainer.  She is known as the "Results Catalyst" and was recognized as one of the top 4% of professional coaches worldwide by the International Coach Federation. We are living in a time when ancient plant medicines are making a strong comeback. The conversation around psychedelic medicine has shifted significantly in the past 10-15 years and has been covered by popular media outlets. This shift is attributed to the mental health crisis, with approximately 50 million Americans diagnosed with mental health conditions and the pandemic exacerbating the issue.    People are desperate to heal and are seeking out unconventional methods.   In this episode, we explore psychedelics’ (particularly psilocybin/mushrooms’) potential for healing and discuss the societal stigma surrounding them, as well as the need for open conversations around their safe use. Join us as we reflect on the potential of psychedelics to support healing in individuals - as well as their positive effects on families and communities.   My guest Cori Sue Morris @corisue spent 15+ years building and scaling brands and has a master’s degree from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. She dove deeply into the health and wellness space primarily to help herself and other women fight stress & anxiety. She then founded Retreat, a microdosing platform providing content, community, and coaching to psychedelic newcomers. Cori is a member of the Microdosing Collective and of Psychedelic Women, and is currently training to be a psychedelic facilitator with Synthesis Institute. Her focus is on the third wave of the psychedelic ecosystem, and she’s a passionate advocate for its potential to improve mental health.   The politicization of mushrooms: a heartbreaking history The importance of safety, setting & intentionality in approaching psychedelic use (including in controlled environments like medical facilities) Why psychedelics are not for everyone Maximizing micro-dosing: protocols, tips & benefits   Cori mentioned a study involving clergy members who have experienced psychedelic medicine - as one example that suggests psychedelics can potentially enhance spiritual connection. Anxiety…who doesn’t deal with it from time to time? Anxiety can actually lead to a more mindful life - even becoming a superpower for sensitive people. How do we unlock the hidden potential of anxiety? How can it actually fuel personal growth? These are things that Dr. Jeanne Retief and I discuss as we explore the “seek for serenity.”    Jeanne has a long family history of mental illness and had a difficult home life growing up. She was always an anxious child, but panic disorder manifested in 2015 when she was traveling for work and had an attack that landed her in the emergency room. Despite her background in human rights consulting, Jeanne decided to take a break to focus on her own healing journey. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can help normalize mental health struggles and offer a platform for others to find catharsis and support.   “Everyone heals differently.” Weighing options to medicate for mental illness  Potential red flags when choosing a healthcare provider  Techniques for coping with chronic anxiety and “making friends” with it Reframing self-care as nourishing, not fixing Why meditating doesn’t work during periods of severe stress & anxiety   Dr. Jeanne’s skincare is my new favorite. If someone would’ve told me years ago that I’d be diving into learning about the Venus Cycle- which would mirror my awakening process and alchemical descent journey…well, let’s just say I would have called ‘em crazy!  When I gave a full “yes” to finding my truth, I discovered some reallllly interesting out-of-mainstream mysteries that were absolutely fascinating. Venus (archetypally & cosmically) is one of them.    The Venus mysteries connect us to the sacred and divine feminine, and this has been celebrated and revered by many ancient societies.  I cannot think of anyone better to explore this with than Tami Brunk. She’s the founder of the Earth Sky Woman Podcast, co-founder of Venus Alchemy, is a fully Certified Shamanic Astrologer and a fully certified Active Dreaming Teacher. What emotional patterns live beneath the surface of our conscious awareness…lurking in the shadows, impacting mood states, thoughts and behavior… and how do we shift them? The idea of shadow work can feel scary, yet it’s the key to our liberation on multiple levels. Our bodies tell a powerful story of what’s going on inside of us mentally & energetically. Inheriting unprocessed trauma as a “root cause” of depression is a growing field of study. Depression lives in the past and anxiety lives in the future; both prevent us from being present & accessing our power in the here and now.    This is an interview from 3 years ago on Michael Sherlock’s “Shock Your Potential” podcast. Michael was chosen as #12 of the Top Female Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2021 by EnterpriseLeague, is part of the Big 50 Top Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2022 by Success Sisters Magazine and is a frequent media expert on local and national news outlets.    She and I discuss how the mind-body’s programming & inherited patterns keep us from accessing the power of ‘now’ -- and what we can do to ground ourselves more fully into the present to HEAL.   "The necessary tools for healing already exist; they just need to be used by those who prioritize healing over money." How might the generational cultural-collective “witch wound” factor into the downplaying of our intuition… and impact the expression of our inherent gifts? We must feel SAFETY in our gift expression, which means first identifying the thought behind the wound. In this episode, we delve into the importance of unlocking & expressing our spiritual gifts and addressing any conscious or unconscious patterns that prevent us from doing so.    This conversation ranges from embodying the Crone archetype to radical self-compassion, to young adults struggling with mental health.     Ultimately, each of us just wants to be deeply SEEN for who we truly are. This engaging and thoughtful discussion with my dear friend Amber Richardson is a good one for all of you who are drawn to mysticism & feminine spirituality…and who acutely feel the missing Mother wound. There has been a great proliferation of teachers and healers--what motivates them? What do you watch out for when looking for teachers, in them and in yourself? Amber is a storyteller & facilitator in many mediums, and has been teaching about spirituality & healing from patriarchy for 12 years.
