Forgiveness isn’t easy. In fact, it may be one of the hardest acts of faith we’re called to live out. Yet, it’s also one of the most freeing. In this episode, I unpack what it means to have a faith that forgives—a faith that trusts God enough to release bitterness and extend grace. We’ll look at Joseph forgiving his brothers (Genesis 45), Jesus forgiving from the cross (Luke 23:34), and the parable of the unforgiving servant (Matthew 18). Along the way, you’ll discover why forgiveness is commanded, how it’s an act of faith, and why it brings freedom not just to others—but to you. This episode also includes practical steps for families and kids to live out forgiveness in everyday life, plus a weekly challenge to help you let go of what you’ve beenholding onto.Because in the end, forgiveness isn’t just about the person who hurt you. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”Check out the free family devotional at Unperfected.net.
It’s one thing to say we have faith—but it’s another to live it out in real, everyday choices. In this episode of The UnPerfected Life Podcast, we explore what James 2:17 means when it says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”Through the stories of Abraham, Noah, Jeremiah, Jonah, and the rich man, we’ll see how true faith shows up in obedience, endurance, trust, and love. Sometimes faith means quickobedience like Noah. Sometimes it means quiet perseverance like Jeremiah. This week, we’re starting a brand-new series all about faith by asking the most important question: What is faith?Faith can feel mysterious, but the Bible gives us a clear picture. In Hebrews 11:1, we see that faith is being sure of what we hope for and confident in what we cannot see. Together, we’ll explore how that truth comes to life in Scripture—through Abraham stepping into the unknown, Peter daring to walk on water, and even in the quiet ways God calls us to trust Him in our everyday lives.I’ll also share a simple (and fun!) family experiment that gives us a picture of faith in action—reminding us that just because we can’t see God doesn’t mean He isn’t real or powerfully at work. So, what is faith? It’s trusting that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He has promised. And that’s where our journey begins.Want to go deeper? This week, I’m opening up about one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves: Why do I trust God?Trust doesn’t usually happen all at once—it’s built piece by piece, through answered prayers, unexpected provision, quiet moments of peace, and even through loss and fear. In this episode, I share some of my own stories—from holidays when my family had nothing but God showed up, to the heartbreak of losing my mom, to long nights in the hospital when my husband was sick. Each of those moments added another brick to the foundation of trust in my life.Along the way, we’ll also look at powerful examples from Scripture: the widow at Zarephath in 1 Kings 17, the disciples in the storm from Mark 4, and the Israelites crossing the Jordan River in Joshua 3. These stories remind us that God provides, God calms, and God leads us—but often only after we take the step of faith. My hope is that as you listen, you’ll take time to reflect on your own testimony. Where has God already proven Himself faithful in your life? And where might He be asking you to trust Him now, even before you see the outcome? This week’s challenge is simple but powerful: share your story. Your testimony could be the very thing that helps someone else learn to trust God.So join me as we get real, get messy, and discover once again that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.Grab your free family devotional at UnPerfected.net.
