The 2025 National Sports Collectors Convention drew even larger crowds during its 5 day run at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois from July 30th to August 3rd. All kinds of cards and collectibles were up for sale or purchase. I was able to make it to the U.K. for London Film and Comic Con, held at the Olympia Exposition Centre in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. A SUPERSIZED episode packed with tons of interviews with artists, authors, creators, cosplayers and collectors from the first day of C2E2 2025. This year the largest comic and pop culture convention in the region took place from April 11-13 at the McCormick Convention Center in downtown Chicago. With panels from such massive fandoms as the Lord of the Rings, and a reunion of the cast of the 80’s movie The Breakfast Club, along with plenty of other celebrities on hand for autos and pictures, C2E2 was set to draw even larger crowds this year, as the numbers have been increasing exponentially since the close of the pandemic years where shows were postponed.I was able to talk with folks I knew and have had on the show before, and talk to a bunch of new creators and people who were ready to show their wares to the fans coming in. In 2019 Kris Penix was signed on to do 2 arts portraits of Star Wars characters that were made into cards featuring the classic 1977 design. Later on the run, Carlos Cabaleiro was added to the roster and he and Kris had an amazing run of work on the set.  I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by writer Bryan Pillai for the piece along with both artists. A bumper crop of news and new release talk that bookends the recent Chicago Sports Spectacular card and memorabilia show. I talk to several guests on the show floor, in studio and wherever else I can find them. Topps STAR WARS Chrome Black debuts 3/19 as another higher end set. Greg Cass - @eyeoncanon returns to talk about the recent release of the new expansion set for STAR WARS Unlimited: Jump to Lightspeed. STAR WARS Card Trader, the mobile app, recently turned 10 and had some new anniversary cards and events. At the show I talk to some vendors, as well as some returning guests and sellers to gauge the hobby and show: Andrew ‘Augie’ Augustine - A teacher who has been on the show before and sells an eclectic range of collectibles as a side gig.
