This means a lot of talk about the United Empire heading
into the Cage match. Whether its Akira’s vulnerability, TJP’s possible duplicity, Okhan’s emerging Empire, Ospreay’s absence, Cobbs Injury or Henares war, all sides of the Empire are discussed.
Also, we talk ZSJ’s goals for the year in New Japan and what this match with Danielson means, the changing dynamic between Okada and Tana as they battle one last time, how Hikuelo is tasking strides towards a future that we feel he could dominate, why Hair vs Hair makes the most sense for Yuya v Yota, and we start off by spending a lot of time gushing over Henare v Gabe Kidd in a war that reflected what New Japan can, and should, be.

If you are looking for an in-depth dissection of some of the great happenings of nights 6 through 10 of NJPW’s G1 tournament, we could recommend some other fine New Japan podcasts. But, if you want to a show dedicated to going as big D-block deep on David Finlay’s tournament to explore what is says about the G1 philosophy this year, what it may say about the future of New Japan Pro Wrestling and how it is tied to the movements of Juice and the future of Bullet Club, then this is the show for you. After an extended opening preamble, where the Stiff Bois answer some listener questions about Mox and Despy, Japanese crowds and the uncertain future of Timesplitters, and recapping the Stiff1 standings it’s a full hour of the lads blowing up the format and getting the D’s out for David Finlay. The lads got excited, carried away, and produced something different, so feel free to let them know your thoughts about the show via Twitter.

In easily the most unhinged episode since the return, the Stiff Bois are back to talk about the second week of the G1. Recording as night 6 was happening, the lads welcome a debuting field reporter, discuss NJPW Strong as a concept, answer some great listener questions, ask for some recognition from Kevin Kelly, only to immediate undercut their credibility with reviews of foreign toilets, and, of course, detail the highs and lows of their #Stiff1 bois. Sure, there were two more nights between recording and release, but, as loyal listeners know, this is not about running down match by match as much as it is about exploring the ideas and the stories that emerge; although Josh’s ELP hypothesis appears to have aged like old muffins.

The Stiff Bois are back to talk the opening two nights of this year’s G1 and begin to wildly speculate and conspiracy book about what it means. Yeah, sure, the episode is dropping just after Night 3 airs, and is thus instantly dated, but really, is anyone going to be talking about the one night that features a Yujiro match into a Chase match into a Fale match? The bois think that they are safe, and so here it is. The first of the G1 reviews, #Stiff1 style.

The most wonderful time of the njpw year is almost upon us, and on the eve of the G1 kicking off this weekend, the Stiff Bois gather to buy and sell some Stiff Stonks before the opening bell. In this preview show, the lads cover what they are each looking forward to following with their respective teams, wrestlers who may surprise us all and some stories that may be worth keeping an eye on; a Stiff Style preview indeed.

The Stiff Bois are back to review the amazing AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV spectacular. Whilst other shows will focus on the great matches, and standout wrestling sequences, and big spots and great pops, of a wild night, this episode finds the lads instead opting to try and explore how it made them feel, where it took their imagination and what they think it suggests for the future. So, how do the story time lads handle a show that didn’t rely upon deep narrative to drive intrigue? Well, they started by attacking an Uber Eats order and let it play out from there.

With under a week to go before we all witness AEW and NJPW Forbidden Door the Stiff bois are back to provide some sort of preview for the show. They sit down in the mystery vortex, that is the half missing Forbidden Door, and with some key matches yet to be announced, and some rumours swirling, the lads put their Nooj fan hats on and look at this show from the perspective of New Japan and the fans who care about it.
That’s right, they turned the structure of the show over to our great listeners and worked to answer their questions, whilst the bois try to figure out the how they feel about the build to the show.
Will this card deliver and what could the impacts be in any case?

The Sitff Bois triumphantly return to talk the big stories in New Japan Pro Wrestling this week. From G1 announcements, to the AEW and NJPW Forbidden Door build, to some happenings coming in and out of Dominion.
If you are looking for a review of Dominion, there are many other fine NJPW podcasts that specialise in such things. We on the other hand, spend the time answering your questions, arguing with random tweets, discussing the concept of a mid-carder, and dedicate over 1 hour to talk Jay White.
We go deep into the Jay v Okada match, focusing on the Switchblade character, the symbolism of the match, the performance, and the character progression, as we speculate where to for all parties.
This is a show for the fans who have watched the card, and just want to sit within three lads discussing their thoughts and encouraging you to engage and think with us as we head towards a busy G1 schedule.
For those who dig Jay White and are looking for in depth coverage, from people who share your investment in this product, we have you sorted from the 68-minute mark; we main event with Jay White.

The Stiff Bois are back to review the biggest stories coming out of Best of the Super Juniors Finals, discuss where to next for Hiromu and Despy, share some thoughts on New Japan and their booking philosophy in this their 50th year and then offer a preview of the most interesting stories heading into Dominion. Yes, there will be lots of Jay talk as we discuss the challenges of Big Story vs Long Story thinking and why this ultimately should lead to Goto being the logical next AEW champ.

The Solid Bois return to review the BOSJ after the final block night. After garnering an unwarranted amount of pity on twitter, the lads are inundated with listeners questions keen to talk through many new possibilities for the future of New Japan pro wrestling. The bois also reveal who is the Best of the Stiff Juniors draft champion, review each teams performance, highlight some key characters, declare their love for Robbie v ELP, and Redd proposes his own unique theory on SHO and YOH; as they ultimately preview a BOSJ final where flowers shall be given, onions cut, and a thrilling tournament reaches climax.
Make sure to follow the show, rate and review if you please, and share us with any fellow New Japan freaks in your life. The Stiff community only grows with your support, and we appreciate every person who is riding down the Bushiroad with us.

The Solid Bois are back to review the first week of the BOSJ. The lads cover a few key NJPW talking points from twitter, answer some listener questions and dive deep into the best performances, biggest surprises, new insights, and potential opportunities that have emerged from a very fresh tournament. Redd, who is back introing our into; is riding high as his team crushes it in the wins and losses column, but can’t get past trying to figure out YOH. Josh and Dave try to help him whilst always finding away to praise either ELP or Despy. Oh, and for those who are new, and attempting to figure out which boi is attached to which take, they made sure to introduce themselves.

After a more than 2-year hiatus, the Solid Bois return to the world of New Japan podcasting. The pandemic has been hard for us all, but now feels like the time to rebuild ourselves through a shared love for New Japan pro wrestling. So, if your keen to jump on with the Bushiroad Warriors and follow along as we discus in freeform – and we do mean freeform – all things New Japan, this is the episode for you.
In it we briefly attempted to de-Kota the Kota Ibushi tweet saga and then go about drafting our own fantasy Best of the Super Junior teams to help us cover this year’s exciting and fresh tournament.

The Stiff Bois return from a hiatus to debut a new series. Opening with Josh providing some context for the new series, a few apologies to our Stiffies for the delays, and thank yous to PWA for their hospitality on his Bucks weekend, the episode includes a short solo preview of King of Pro Wrestling at the start, but ultimately marks a new way forward for WWS. A new series focusing on breaking down the young characters of NJPW according to a set, Stiff coded criteria, this bonus format will give Josh and Dave the scope to dive deeply into the things they love in NJPW with a focus that should encourage real dialogue with our Stiffies. We will still do preview and review shows – and cover the latest happenings weekly. But this format will give us the room to go good looking. Plus, this is just the pilot. The format will be expanded upon in the coming weeks. We are excited about this one and hope the coming months of content will make up for the previous ones absence. To join the Club or grab some merch to support the show.thestiff.club Or weworkstiff.comYou can find and follow the show:On X / twitter@weworkstiffOn Instagraminstagram.com/weworkstiff/On Redditreddit.com/r/WeWorkStiff/On Youtubeyoutube.com/@weworkstiffEmail us atweworkstiff@gmail.comPlease Listen. With the biggest episode in We Work Stiff’s history on the horizon for next week, Josh and Dave present a special new type of show – The Double Feature. A show aimed at exploring the nuances of New Japan characters and stories through the lens of feature films. Every time we think it is warranted; we will release The Double Feature – a bonus show on any given week. So, we will still talk story and character in our usual weekly podcast. But every now and then Josh and Dave will gather to go off on a tangent like today. However, this is not a final version of what this series will be, because when this episode was recorded it wasn’t designed to be this; it just became this.
This week, it’s the Color of Money and how the 'legacy sequel' frames our understanding of New Japan’s booking and the enigmatic Taichi.
Feedback for this additional show is very much welcomed.
