The catfishing world has never had an organization.  People who fish for catfish have never had a national collective voice through a group.  The American Catfishing Association is attempting to do that. The Winter Blues on Wheeler Catfish Tournament almost had a deadly ending.  The catfish tournament anglers were released into windy conditions that produced 4'-5' waves, and many boats were swamped and several sank.  Some valuable lessons can be learned from this event, and I discuss them in this podcast. If you have ever fished for catfish in a tournament you will know that skill is very important.  You need to have a certain level of expertise to win.  You need to have the right tackle, the right bait and the ability to find fish and put them on the boat.   While all this is true, I believe that many anglers have all of these skills, especially in the major tournaments.  I believe that in the major tournaments that easily half the field has the ability to win, but the determining factor is luck.  I believe luck plays an important factor, if not the most important factor, in winning a major catfish tournament. In the catfishing world there are a lot of terms.  Experienced anglers take these terms for granted, and expect others anglers to know these terms and understand their meaning.  Sadly, many of these terms are mixed with others terms, and it can get confusing for people who are new to the sport.  In this episode I hope to clarify some of these terms and go into some details on what they mean.
