Funny story at the end. Similarly, I was giving people a ride from the north. They wanted to catch a sherut (sort of a group ride-share van) to Jerusalem. We stopped at a busy gas station near B'nai Brak, where lots of people hitchhike. Lots of people came to our car window. I figured that the plural of the ride-share van should be SHERUTIM, so I asked them all where there were sherutim (but that means restrooms!). Looking disappointed, they all pointed to the gas station. I'm still not sure what the plural of the ride-share vans should be called.
