Ralph's love for music began at age 3, inspired by his late grandfather, known as Honey Grandpa. After losing his grandfather at age 7, Ralph began finding comfort and inspiration in signs of his presence. Initially focused on sports, the college choir at Fresno City College redirected his path, giving him opportunities to tour France and compete in local talent competitions. These experiences cemented his passion for singing and performing, leading him to a career as a full-time musician. Ralph now fronts his own band, VibeCheck, blending genres and earning a strong following, with support from his fiancée, Crystina. Driven to honor his roots and carry forward his grandfather's legacy, Ralph has long dreamed of "The Voice," where he's ready to share his voice, heart and story with the world.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
I’m always asking questions. The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… The music we hear in our head, where does it come from and why is it endlessly playing even when we want silence? Plus… Bread. Very few don’t like bread, mainly the end piece called the heel. Why? I’m Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it’s my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It’s still keeping a journal! By doing the research the picture becomes clearer. This is the Daily Mess…Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

-Missed Opportunity- I love sharing conversations. Hosting requires show prep. My podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests. What you don’t have access to are the missed opportunities. The show prep was completed. The conversation didn’t happen. I keep all my notes! Paths will cross again. Let me explain Missed Opportunity. It’s my questions and statements without their answers. I’m leaving open enough space at the end of each question hoping they’ll download the talk and insert their answers.Missed Opportunity is a lost piece of history. Like a message in a bottle tossed out to sea. I hope to locate a destination… This week we’re putting focus on my missed opportunity with writer and director Troy Duffy. Missed Opportunity. A lost piece of history. You know the questions. Let’s locate the reactions. The door is always open. In the 1960s, at the height of the Mad Men era, Jule Campbell shattered glass ceilings by transforming a struggling magazine into a media empire: the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the most anticipated annual publication. Chic and controversial, the mastermind behind this titillating page-turner was a creative trailblazer who navigated a male-dominated workplace while simultaneously rebuffing accusations of objectification. Campbell transformed the magazine with her vision to showcase female beauty in a tasteful, artistic manner. Daughter-in-law Jill's documentary chronicles her 32-year reign, where she championed intelligence and empowered supermodels like Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, Roshumba Williams, and many others who recall the era and working with her. Weaving together her journey with feminism's evolution, the film explores the changing gaze on beauty, from objectification to body positivity. Through stunning visuals and intimate interviews with a wise, nonagenarian Campbell herself, we witness a legacy that continues to inspire.Jule Campbell, the founding editor of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, is the subject of this documentary. It explores how she transformed a struggling magazine into a publishing powerhouse.Campbell's vision was to create beautiful imagery in exotic locations. She fought to protect the models from objectification while celebrating their beauty. She battled with male editors to find a balance between these two approaches. The documentary portrays Campbell as a resilient and creative trailblazer. She changed the way women are seen in media by showcasing their intelligence and personalities alongside their beauty. She even championed naming the models, who were previously seen as nameless faces.Beyond the Gaze goes beyond Campbell's story. It explores the evolution of feminism and fashion alongside the changing societal views on female bodies in swimsuits. The documentary questions the continued relevance of Campbell's creation in today's world that emphasizes empowerment and inclusion.Ultimately, the film is a celebration of women supporting women. Campbell's mentorship and dedication to her collaborators serve as an inspiration for generations. Jesse Jackson, the civil rights leader, activist, raconteur, and political candidate, finally gets a book worthy of his stature courtesy of CNN anchor Abby Phillip. Focusing on his presidential runs in 1984 and, especially, 1988, Phillip highlights how Jackson built an unlikely coalition that showed how Black political power could be consolidated. His experience working under Martin Luther King; his organizing the SLCC's Operation Breadbasket in Chicago and beyond; and his roots in the deep South combined into two astonishingly impactful presidential campaigns. Appealing to the working people of urban enclaves like that of Chicago, young people on college campuses, and Black people across the South, he created the modern Democratic coalition-one that has been used by all major Democrats seeking national success from With her expert reporting, natural storytelling skills, and a story so full of humanity, politics, and hope, Abby Phillip has written a rousing popular history that sheds new light on an American icon."Jesse Jackson's presidential campaigns showed America that leadership could look different, that power could be shared, and that more voices deserved to be heard," said Phillip. "His movement laid the foundation for the coalitions that define our democracy today. This book is my effort to capture the urgency, the messiness, and the possibility of that era, and what it still has to teach us now." At a time when questions of representation, democracy, and belonging are once again at the forefront of American life, A Dream Deferred offers urgent lessons from a leader who pioneered modern coalition politics. The battles Jesse Jackson fought in the 1980s, over voter access, multiracial coalition-building, and the visibility of Black political leadership, mirror the very debates shaping our politics today. By revisiting Jackson's story, Phillip not only restores him to his rightful place in history, but also reminds us that the struggles of the past are inseparable from the challenges of the present.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
