Anglo-Saxon England was racially diverse according to a new genetics paper 'West African ancestry in seventh-century England: two individuals from Kent and Dorset published in Antiquity journal. But is Duncan Sayer misrepresenting the evidence? How significant are two skeletons with 1/4 black ancestry and have they failed to notice middle eastern ancestry in Updown Girl?
Bronze Age Pervert (BAP) joins Tom Rowsell to discuss ancient history and how the heroic ideals of the past can shape our future. This is your chance to hear BAP’s unfiltered thoughts on the classical antiquity that inspires his philosophy, from the vitality of the Bronze Age to the inspiration of the Renaissance. We also talk about Plato and religion and in the second half we also discuss the misinterpretation in population geneticists of ancient cultures and elite dominance models of cultural replacement. Neil Burridge is an accomplished sword smith and widely considered the greatest living smith of historical replica cast bronze swords and daggers. He has cast and forged hundreds of replica blades from Ancient Greek Mycenaean, to Nordic Bronze Age and Celtic style weapons. I visited him in his workshop to collect a special replica of one of the oldest metal weapons from Britain, the Huntshaw dagger, which he made for me and we chatted about his work and the history of bronze working. Eric Orwoll aka Aarvoll is an American Christian Platonist known for his YouTube channel. Eric's beliefs are more compatible with those of pagans than those of typical Christians are. I asked him about how a Platonic view of the One and objective good is compatible with a scientific view of evolution or a pagan view of tribal loyalty. We also discussed transhumanism and the anti-Platonist philosophies of Karl Popper and Friedrich Nietzsche.Eric's channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ericorwollStarting Heathenry course: https://startingheathenry.thinkific.com/STJ links: https://linktr.ee/SurvivetheJive
A review of Vilhelm Grønbech's seminal work on the religion and culture of ancient Germanic peoples. Grønbech was a professor of the history of religion at the University of Copenhagen in the early twentieth century. Grønbech looks at Norse, Lombardic, Anglo-Saxon, Gothic and Roman sources to identify a common Teutonic culture focused on luck, honour, shame, kinship, and a unique perspective on the afterlife and the soul. My review includes favourite quotes from volume 1 of the two part book republished by Antelope Hill. Jive Book Review: I am joined by the Finnish author Aki Cederberg as we discuss his latest book Holy Europe, published in English in 2024 by Arcana Europa. The book is a travelogue in which Aki invites the reader to join him on a spiritual exploration of the continent, looking at ancient pagan holy sites, as well as places relevant to artists and esotericists who have sought the holy within Europe in various ways. He addresses the spiritual crisis of Western man by showing how the sacred is still accessible in Europe today.

Jive Book Review of Theurgy and the Soul by Gregory Shaw, Professor of Religious Studies at Stonehill College. In this work he outlines the philosophy and ritual practise of Iamblichus of Syria (ca. 240 325), whose teachings set the final form of pagan spirituality prior to the Christianization of the Roman Empire. Theurgy literally means "divine action" or "godly work"I describe how this work is useful for modern polythesists including Heathens like myself.
How does one interpret the hidden meaning of a pagan myth? Some wise Platonist pagan authors help us to understand this, since they explained it in plain writing. One such author is Sallust aka Sallustius the neoplatonist, others include Emperor Julian and Plotinus. In this video I look at how Sallust's writing on the gods and the cosmos help us to understand not only myth, but also the meaning of rites and sacrifices and why they are so important for pagans. A new paper called The Genetic Origin of the Indo-Europeans (2024) reveals that the Proto-Indo-European languages originated in the Yamnaya and Sredny Stog cultures of Ukraine and South Russia. The split of PIE languages from Anatolian languages is revealed to have taken place on the steppe. Sredny Stog DNA is found in Hittite samples proving the real IE people were Steppe herders from Eastern Europe and not an unknown Armenian population as previously claimed. In this Jive Talk I shall discuss the findings presented in the preprint of the new paper from McColl and colleagues entitled ‘Steppe Ancestry in western Eurasia and the spread of the Germanic Languages’. What does it tell us about where Germanic has its roots, how it spread in the Bronze Age, Iron Age and Migration era? How Germanic were the Lombards and Ostrogoths? Lots of new information is revealed. A huge breakthrough in Germanic studies!End music: Ansuz Society - Fuþorc Please support me: https://linktr.ee/SurvivetheJive
Returning to the topic of the highest god, Odin. First I address why the Romans weren't entirely wrong when they compared him to Mercury/Hermes. Then I present my theory about how Odin learned the nine sacred songs called Galdra and why this is related to his role as the god of the runes. The dankest god, Odin, and esoteric theories go together like runes and galdra. Please support this podcast if you want it to continue: https://survivethejive.blogspot.com/p/donate.html
Brixton's Brilliant Black British History exhibition at Black Cultural Archives, south London, is rewriting our history to suit their agenda. Visitors are informed that “the very first Britons were Black” and that “Britain was black for 7,000 years before” white people arrived. The exhibit was based on a book which claims Stonehemge was built by black people! Also, In 2021 a paper titled Diversity aboard a Tudor warship by Scorrer et al claimed the crew of the 16th century Mary Rose ship included black peoiple. I wil debunk these claims in this podcast and answer questions from the live audience. Opening theme by Wolcensmen. Outro music Sanguine fire by Elegiac. Please support this podcast. Blue eyes have piqued curiosity for centuries, standing out as a mesmerising and rare trait among humans. Discover the underlying science behind blue eyes as we explore various theories and genetic factors that contribute to their existence. They were mainly associated with Mesolithic Western Hunter Gatherers like Cheddar man but the origin and story of this phenotype is complicated. A new study from Liverpool may have the answer as to what benefit this trait has - better ability to see in low light. This channel depends on your support:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/survivethejiveAll Links: https://linktr.ee/SurvivetheJiveSources:https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.01.17.576074v1https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/01/080130170343.htm
