You can no more have a bodiless resurrection than you could have a sunless sunrise. The one demands the other or else, your religion is in vain.
I'm sure you didn't wake up wondering if you'd be fed to the lions today but in this passage we come across five characteristics of Christian living in the face of opposition. Attitudes that are contrary to the world like Unity, Love, Humility, Forgiveness, and a general Godly attitude.
Chp.2 concluded, Christ left us an example, likewise chp.3... Women, honor and obey. Men, love and cherish.
When considering what you'd like to say or how you may want to respond, consider Christ who is our example of holy living.
What to do when treated unfairly?
You cannot live a holy life apart from the Word of God and apart from fellowship with other believers.
What Christ does for us and in us.
Put off sin and pick up your Bible.
No one ever traveled the distance between knowing and doing without incentive...
Christian suffering and conduct in the light of complete salvation (Scofield)
The measure of faithfulness...
Eight principles for happiness in the new year...
The first prayer of Christmas was offered by Isaiah to prepare the way of the Messiah now answered in the barren womb of an elderly couple Zacharias and Elizabeth.
Remember the widow's mite? Her giving was not noteworthy for how much she gave but for for how little she held back. The true spirit of giving is its unselfish nature. Giving beyond what could otherwise be expected because they first gave their self.
Gratitude is not only the greatest virtue but the parent of all other virtues. Thanksgiving enhances everything else we say and do. Things for which we are unthankful, quickly becomes unholy.
Before we could ever come to give thanks we must first learn the lesson of godliness with contentment. We know the price of everything and the value of nothing. It would seem we have more and enjoy less.
It would seem that many people live their life on a yellow brick road in pursuit of a fantasy, chased by fear. The judgment of God has chased the Jews all the way to Egypt and God is going to pull back the curtain on Nebuchadnezzar who is not all they feared him to be.
Don't be a lazy heifer or grumpy old bull. When you retreat to the ways of the world for safety you'll end up like a bull in a china shop.
The principle part of wisdom is patience. Baruch became part of the problem when he tried to take things into his own hands.
Sometimes we get so far down the road that we end up having to redefine the terms in order to make the best of our bad situation. But then the preacher must still speak the truth, which now seems so irrelevant given our present circumstance.
