Why Do We Sin?

Why Do We Sin?

2026-03-01--:--

Why do we do things we regret? Why do we sin? It all goes back to the first humans ever to live, and their failure to handle God’s word - just like us. By looking at the fall of humanity, we learn of the hope for humanity. And in so doing, we see how to be honest about ourselves, find forgiveness for our sin, and learn to live differently. Join us in Genesis 3:1-7 this week.
How Long, Oh Lord!

How Long, Oh Lord!

Please join us as Arthur preaches on Psalm 13. Hope in the Midst of Sadness, learning from David in Psalm 13.
The Bible makes some huge claims about marriage - that it should be between one man and one woman, and be a lifelong commitment. These ideas might seem out of date, but they’re both wise and good, as we see in Genesis 2. Join us as we see what’s so good about God’s design for marriage.
Does it ever feel like life is robbing us of our humanity? We eat, work, sleep our days away – surrounded by constant noise telling us to “consume.” We’re less connected than ever. It’s sometimes said that we live in an ‘inhuman world’ – but how can we recover what the world means to take away? What does it mean to be truly human in an inhuman world? Genesis 2 shows us that the key to discovering our humanity is to see how God made us.
Genesis chapter 1 is probably the most famous chapter in the Bible. But what is it really about? Is it an ancient myth? A scientific argument? This week we begin a series on Genesis chapters 1-11. And just like every passage we’ll read along the way, this one is all about who God really is.
Groaning and Grieving

Groaning and Grieving

2026-01-25--:--

Psalm 5 shows us the increasing weight of evil bending David's back. We, too, can feel the weight of injustice, selfishness and destruction in the world around us. But we also feel it in our own souls. What is God's answer to evil in the world, and in ourselves? Find out as we dwell on Psalm 5 together
Life is hard. But sometimes we wonder if our hardships show that God's abandoned us. Am I really saved? How can I have assurance, no matter what's happening? Psalm 3 shows us how David faced this situation with confidence in the God of the covenant. As we learn from him, we see the even greater covenant that God has made us in Christ.
Rebels Without a Cause

Rebels Without a Cause

2026-01-04--:--

Aussies love a rebel. We love the idea of people who throw off their restraints - and often we wish we were like them. But in Psalm 2, we meet rebels against God, and it’s not a pretty picture. We’ll see that rebels will face wrath - but at the same time, rebels can find refuge. Such is God’s justice and kindness!
Last week we heard about God’s promise to send a Saviour. But why does that promise matter? Why do we need a Saviour anyway? Join us as we investigate our need for Jesus in the Christmas account given by Matthew.

What can we put our hope in? As we enter into our season of advent, we look to find the answer to this question. Today, Isaiah 9 will reveal that God gives promises to His people that bring hope, joy and love. We can continue to trust in these promises from God
The church is made to stand firm. But there’s a threat from within: disunity. How can we pursue peace among us, so that our church remains strong for years to come? This week, we’ll see how several commands in Philippians 4:1-9 shape us to be a peace-filled community.

Not everyone who calls themselves a “Christian” makes it to the end. How can we make sure that we make it? So much of it has to do with where we focus the direction of our lives. In Philippians 3:12-21, the Apostle Paul shows us what it looks like to focus on the finish line, and the runners ahead of us. Join us as we learn what it takes to make it to the end.
Many Christians think that serving the church is like serving in the army - sign your life away to being on a roster! Others think it’s like serving in a cafe - everyone using their different skills and gifts to make it happen. While rosters are sometimes necessary, and using our gifts can be helpful, Philippians 2:19-30 gives us a much bigger picture of serving the church. Join us as we see two real life examples of people who served the church simply by serving people, whatever it took.

Australia may be a nation of mumblers, but we’re also a nation of grumblers. Yet in Philippians 2:12-18, God commands the church to be different: we must never grumble against each other nor dispute with each other. How can this be possible? And what difference does it make? Listen along as we see how the truth of the gospel shapes our speech as a church community.
Families fight - and so do churches. But that’s not how it should be. In Philippians 2:1-11, we see how the reality of who Jesus is must determine the way we treat each other. The Son of God gave himself in humble service. How can this shape the way we live together as a local church? And what message will this send to the world when we put it into practice?

Unity Under Fire

Unity Under Fire

2025-10-12--:--

There are costs to seeing the gospel go out into the world. But the unity of the local church helps us face those costs no matter what happens. Join us as we see a vivid picture of unity that’s strong enough to come under fire in Philippians 1:27-30.
