What is it really like inside WMSCOG at the highest levels? What does it take to walk away — and why does Mitch now secretly enter high-control religious groups to help others get out? In Part 2 of this deep-dive investigation, Jeremiah Roberts and Andrew “Super Sleuth” Soncrant continue their examination of La Luz del Mundo (“Light of the World”) by moving beyond history into the movement’s theology and Christology. Joined again by researcher and author Luis Carlos Reyes  @Mopar440HP  team unpacks the doctrinal framework that sustains one of the largest and most controversial apostle-centered movements in the world. This episode carefully analyzes La Luz del Mundo’s rejection of historic Trinitarianism, its Oneness-influenced understanding of God, and its redefinition of the person and work of Jesus Christ.  What does LLDM actually teach about the incarnation? How do they interpret the Son of God?  And how does their theology position the “living apostle” as the necessary mediator of salvation in the present age?  The discussion exposes how LLDM’s doctrine of “election” reshapes the Gospel itself—placing apostolic authority functionally above Scripture and reframing salvation as loyalty to a man rather than faith in Christ alone. Jeremiah, Andrew, and Luis contrast these teachings with historic Christian orthodoxy, highlighting the theological fault lines that separate LLDM from biblical Christianity. In this episode, Jeremiah Roberts and Andrew “Super Sleuth” Soncrant kick off a two-part investigation into La Luz del Mundo (“Light of the World”)—one of the largest, most influential high-control religious movements most English audiences have barely heard of. Joined by researcher and author Luis Carlos Reyes, the team traces La Luz del Mundo’s roots through early Oneness Pentecostal streams, prophetic offshoots, and the formation of its apostle-centered system—where loyalty to a “living apostle” becomes the gate to salvation. Luis shares firsthand experiences from inside the movement’s stronghold, explains how authority is enforced through control and intimidation, and unpacks the doctrine of “election” that elevates the apostle above Scripture and beyond accountability. Along the way, they explore the movement’s communal structure, alleged corruption, and the chilling psychological grip that keeps members trapped—often even in the face of abuse. In the final installment of our series on Korean cults, we expose the mind control tactics woven through groups like Shincheonji, the Olive Tree Movement, and the Unification Church. Building on the theological patterns we uncovered in episodes 1 and 2, we break down how these movements use reinterpreted Scripture, deceptive “Bible studies,” and authoritarian teaching structures designed to make you question the Bible—and trust their leaders as the only true source of revelation. We talk with our returning guests to uncover how these groups systematically dismantle a person’s confidence in God’s Word, isolate them from outside voices, and replace biblical authority with hidden doctrines, secret meanings, and messianic claims. This episode exposes how Korean messianic movements manipulate Scripture, control information, and infiltrate churches—and how Christians can recognize, resist, and refute their strategies with sound theology and the true Gospel. We’re joined by Pastor Yang, Adjunct Professor of New Testament at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul, who holds a Doctor of Theology in New Testament and served as a Visiting Scholar at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (2023–2024). Also joining us is Chris, a former member of Shincheonji and returning Cultish guest, who shares his firsthand experience and ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the growing global influence of Korean cults. Partner With Us & Be Part of the Mission to Change Lives: HERESHOP OUR MERCH: HEREPlease consider subscribing to our YouTube Channel: CultishTV.comCultish is a 100% crowdfunded ministry. -- Email Chris & Pastor Yang: biblev@daum.net Chris@examiningthecults.org Chris's Website: HEREChris's YouTube: HEREPastor Yang's YouTube: HERE
In this second episode of our series on Korean Cults, we trace the tangled roots of Korea’s modern messianic movements—shaped by Jeong Deuk-eun (“The Great Holy Mother”) and Kim Baek-moon—gave birth to a new religion that blended Confucianism, Taoism, and Christian language into a syncretic gospel of bloodline purification and “True Bloodline Lineage. We then follow how this ideology influenced later leaders like Jung Myung-seok (JMS) and Park Tae-seon of the Olive Tree Movement, revealing the disturbing legacy of Korean messiahship and political infiltration that continues today through groups like the Moonies, Shincheonji, and WMSCOG. Together, we expose how the False Christs of Korea: The Unification Church and the Olive Tree Legacy which redefined the Gospel, replaced biblical revelation with self-proclaimed messiahs, and continue to shape Korea’s—and the world’s—spiritual landscape today.Partner With Us & Be Part of the Mission to Change Lives: HERESHOP OUR MERCH: HEREPlease consider subscribing to our YouTube Channel: CultishTV.comCultish is a 100% crowdfunded ministry. -- Email Chris & Pastor Yang: biblev@daum.net Chris@examiningthecults.org Chris's Website: HEREChris's YouTube: HEREPastor Yang's YouTube: HERE
In this episode of Cultish, we explore why Korea has become a center for a new wave of cult movements—and why the global church should pay attention. If Dr. Walter Martin were alive today, he’d likely be addressing the rise of groups like Shincheonji, the World Mission Society Church of God, Jesus Morning Star, and many others now infiltrating churches throughout the Western world. We’re joined by Pastor Yang, who serves as an Adjunct Professor of New Testament at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul. There needs to be more discussion about the rhetoric and ideology that leads to this degree of radicalization. A movement that equates words with violence, distorts mere disagreement into pure evil, & dehumanizes anyone outside of their movement has laid the foundation for violence, totalitarianism, & injustice. under no other circumstances would so many justify and encourage evil in the name of virtue.

I adamantly disagree with the major outlet if antisemitism is coming from the right. it comes from the left . The protest and attack are coming from the left. Communism killed more bees than anyone else

this whole episode was very dishonest and not helpful. I know many king James only people, they aren't stupid or cult-like. they never make it an issue of salvation. this condescending response won't win them over to your pov. I recommend inviting the best most rational loving pro king James only expert on to your podcast to make their case. David w. Daniels perhaps? do better please.

I can't take this guy talking about MLMs seriously. It's a bad witness! To b3 successful you have to prey on countless people and convince them to spend money you know they're not going to earn back.

Who is this dude? He didn't even know Vladimir Putins age. I don't even like Orthodoxy but this dude mischaracterized alot and lumped all of them in with the worst radicals in the groups. He made this issue sound completely one sided even though it's most certainly not. Easily the worst guest I've ever seen, even the way he said "they were filled with hate" screamed uncritical thinking leftist.

this is a sadly narrow minded and historically inaccurate representation of the Orthodox Church. incredibly disappointing to hear this guest after having so many reputable guests. i may unsubscribe because im so surprised you'd have a guest with such little credibility.

I would love to hear more on the vibration therapy and the singing bowls and frequency therapy used in these practices. I recently learned about the frequency that linen or organic cotton gives off and the health benefits they have but how they counteract one another if blended. Then, I read God's instructions in Deuteronomy not to mix the two fabrics. I wondered if this was God revealing this benefit to us but then the new age actually did take that over. Would love to hear more thoughts on this. Thank you for such a great podcast, it's one of my faves.
